DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL! THE STAFF CHEATED US!

We wanted to rent a tuktuk to go to Pidurangala Rock and Kandalama Lake and we both agreed on the price of LKR2500. But after we got back from the tuktuk ride, the hotel staff demanded for LKR4000. He said that Kandalama Lake is diverted far from the route (we checked Google Maps before the ride, it was only 6km from the hotel and the route is the same road back to the hotel from Pidurangala Rock). He made a lot of excuses that does not even make sense. The hotel staff & the driver are working together to scam us money.
For the room, we didn't get any blankets and room was not so clean. Ants and mites are everywhere in the room.
Please avoid this hotel at any cost as it is misleading. Beware of the cheating staff too.

WORST EXPERIENCE IN SRI LANKA!

Visited early on this month... room only, no any food... I'm only rating about lodging, not about food...

The place is kind of a isolated... some overgrown lawn.. however within close proximity ( walking distance ) of Dambulla cave temple...

AC room per day is around 3500-4000 rupees... spacious room... together with hot water facilities... free WIFI ( not available almost all the time)  .... 

Room is seems to be cleaned but not that much.. bathroom is also somewhat untidy...  spider nets can be found... 
Twin bed is horrible.... very very uncomfortable...

Overall experience is not appealing.... not recommended for anyone , if you asked....

Value for the money.. I don't know 

Family-run hotel with friendly vibe and relaxed atmosphere. Our kids loved playing soccer with the proprietor's son in the garden, and sitting on the swing-seat. Walking distance to Dambulla caves and only 8 minutes walk Golden Buddha, a short tuk-tuk ride to Sigiriya. Best laundry service in Sri Lanka—convenient and cheap. We loved the vegetable fried rice too. Of our 5 weeks in Sri Lanka, this was a memorable stay because of the friendly family running Sunflower Inn.

Great place for families with young kids

I stayed this hostel to see sigiriya sunset. The room was big and clean. White type interior was good to stay. Lobby was good to drink beer with other traveller. Specially You can choose one of three kind of breakfast(srilankan food, western, eastern) i ate western, it was great and other things also looks good. And Owners are very kind. If i come dambula again, i wanna stay here again~

We stayed at the sunflower on the second leg of our trip. After coming from a guest house at half the price we paid to stay here. I have to say I was a little shocked!!! The rooms were not what they had portrayed in the pictures online. We had also booked AC, but when asked they said it was not given with a standard room ( not what it stated on my booking confirmation) and we would have to pay 1000 RS extra per night. The room was a sweat box, with a poor excuse for a fan. Broken furniture (if that's what you can call it) and a bathroom out of the dark ages. I have stayed in hostels before and have been more than happy with basic, but for the price we paid it was just not acceptable. This also did not include breakfast!

We also had a driver who was not looked after. (She Paul H review).

This is my first review on Trip advisor as I usually leave these things up to my husband, but I felt compelled to add mine on as we were so disappointed, and to be fair I felt slightly cheated into what was being offered from the site that I booked it. 

The only good thing was the quality of food in the evening and the proximity to the cave temples. However there are many other places to stay, I would strongly advise looking at somewhere else before considering this hotel.
