Ella

We stayed here on 2 separate occasions. We were really happy both times and felt that the accommodation offered really good value for money. Ella is not the cheapest of places to stay in Sri Lanka. But Summer Villa is very reasonably priced.
On our first visit we stayed upstairs and when you looked out of your door from the balcony it was lovely to see all of the plants and trees. It almost felt like you were up in a tree house. 
On our second visit we stayed downstairs, which we actually preferred with our 2 year old son as there is a nice area outside for him to play. We also had a nice sofa area right outside of our door which was a great place to relax at the end of an evening.
The rooms were clean. The beds were comfortable. Decoration is bright and cheerful. The bathrooms are a good size and the showers are powerful with both hot and cold water.
The owners live on site and are really friendly. They leave you to your own privacy, but are on hand should you need anything. 
A really peaceful place to stay, just a short walk from the main road with all of its bars, restaurants and shops. 
We really liked being close enough to walk to where all the action is, but being just far enough away to get a quiet nights sleep. 
We would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Ella on a low to medium budget.


Lovely peaceful accommodation in Ella.

I made a booking for this hotel via Agoda (2 nights before arrival). I had an experience at a different property that was sold out even though Agoda had rooms available, so I called them to confirm that they had rooms. 24 hours later (the night before we were due to check in), after not answering any of my calls during the day, they send an SMS saying they don't have rooms available. First of all, don't book this place online and expect them to have rooms... and even if you call them, don't expect them to be prompt about replying.

Extremely unprofessional

My wife and I were here for two days with our 6-month-old baby, and the price/performance ratio is right, and the guests are absolutely lovely, and the breakfast was delicious, and the rooms were clean, and even when the power went out, they brought candles, which was really romantic, and we were very happy and would recommend it.

Road Trip to Sri Lanka

Summer villa is really a great place to stay! The staff are very friendly and the room is big and very modern. The climate is colder so no need for ac or even fan. We haven't seen a single mosquito and the beds are big and very comfortable.  This is a really good place if you want to get away from the busy road but still just three minute walk to the shops and restaurants. It is quiet and very clean. We got very good homemade pancakes for breakfast. The room and bathroom are big, clean and comfortable. It is raining, but that doesn't bother us at all, as there are enough things to do. They offer taxi and tuc tuc trips around for reasonable prices and helped us find a place to do our laundry which had a dryer, as they didn't have the possibility to sun dry our clothes because of the rain. The place is very suited for families and couples and is the perfect combination quietness and closeness to cafes with very good food and real coffee. Would really recommend!


Super place to chill with very short distance to the centre

We stayed here in two rooms for one night. Rooms were adequate, reasonably clean. Short walk into town. The steps up to the property are pretty treacherous, bumpy and uneven, difficult in the dark. We were provided with a nice breakfast in the morning. The staff were very pleasant. Very reasonable price for a night’s stay, around £30 for 2 rooms including breakfast, can’t complain at all.

Value for Money

Perfect location, 5min walking from the train station and 5-10min from the city, we are quiet. Breakfast is very good and cozy. The upstairs rooms are perfect, very large, very clean, private bathroom with hot water (and dry hair), wifi, and the bedding is a dream comfort. For the price I recommend +++

It's perfect.

This place is not open for business as of Jan 18 and is a construction site. The entrance is up a poorly built road which cars can’t go up, so if you are carrying bags or in a wheelchair or have a pushcart, you will have problems. Avoid

The rooms were good size and clean with bathrooms attached. 
Service very good with nice breakfasts and they made some refreshing fresh juice for us on arrival.

Good location a bit out of town but close enough to walk in in a few minutes, also very close to the station. 

The guy there recommended that we rent scooters for a day to see Ella which was great. Definitely the best way to get around and see the waterfalls/views/temples.

Good place to stay in Ella

A nice and clean place, close enough to everything to walk, but far enough for quiet and sleep. The breakfast is good, the people are friendly, and they help any which way they can. Since Ella is a great place, we stayed longer than planned and it was worth it. Recommended. Tip: hire a scooter and discover most of Ella in one day.

Decent place in a great town

We stayed one night in this Guest House for all the comments we saw through Tripadvisor and the experience was unfortunate.The house under construction, to get there we had to go through a concrete mountain ridge, although the person who attended us was kind, the light was just about to arrive and we decided to go for a walk, but on our return, there was no water and it continued unnoticed the next day, so we couldn't even brush our teeth or talk about the rest of the needs...I don't recommend it to anyone.
