We stayed here from January 28 to 31, 2019. It is a small and a clean property. Ever-smiling guy at the counter is very friendly & helpful. The day we checked out, he fixed us super delicious "Sri Lankan breakfast" upon our request. 

The property is very close to the city centre. Guests staying here can easily access Little Adam's peak, 9 Arch Bridge & Ravana falls. 

The people who are complaining about services/amenities should look at the amount they are paying for their stay :-) 

"Recommended / Worth The Price"

This is run by a medical doctor who works in Diyathalawa hospital.
We paid Rs. 10 000/= and reserve for 3 rooms(6 pax) before one month of our journey. The owner Ganga just called  before one week of 28th of December (before our journey)and said cannot provide the property for the said date and return our money.  Very pathetic people. Sad to say we have book many other hotels in abroad and Sri Lanka but this the first time we face such situation. So don't ever think to visit this place. This is not matter with our money but this could  tarnish our whole journey. . Since our trip was planned for many days and we booked some other places. If we couldn't find a place in Ella we have to change all the other hotels also. Luckily we managed to find a much better place which is more  closer to Ella town. Do not do this again for any customers. Very disappointed.

Do not visit

Within our staying they had no hot water, TV, Wi-Fi, air conditioner, but provided molded sheets, dirty balcony and some construction works nearby. Even for breakfast we had disgusting fruits.
Never again.

Horrible place

During our trip to Ella, my wife, little son and I stayed for three nights in the Chamelia Inn Ella. In general the hotel and the money for value ratio is ok (rooms are large but simply equipped). The B&B is situated close to Ella junction, i.e. the center and the bus stop are nearby and also the train station is in walking distance (approx. 1.5 km). The staff was kind and gave us some hints on Ella and the surrounding area. Furthermore the included breakfast was good and they also provided us extra stuff for our little son (e.g. cooked water).
However, I want to mention that there is quite some space for improvement. The free WiFi didn't work that well (either very slow or no connection at all) and from our point of view more toilet articles should be included (e.g. shower gel for each day or more than one role of toilet paper). Additionally during our stay our room was not cleaned at all. At least emptying of the garbage can would have been necessary (in our case it was full after one day to our son's diapers). Moreover the staff was quite uncoordinated. For our second day we've planned a full day trip and discussed everything with the employees (planned departure time 5.30 am, lunch packets instead of breakfast and the driver should be organized by the hotel). We got up at 5.00 am and prepared ourselves. At 5.30 am no driver was there to pick us up and no lunch packets were prepared. The staff appeared at 5.45 am and started to prepare our lunch packets. After asking about the driver we realized that the driver was not booked the previous day. The staff tried to call a driver, but obviously that time a day it is not that easy to reach someone. In the end we didn't get a driver before 7.00 am and at that point we had to cancel our full day trip as we should have reached our destination at 7.30 am (2 hours ride) in order to make our planned hike. 
Last but not least, the guesthouse was still under construction, i.e. the upper floors were not finished yet. Consequently the whole day construction works were performed.
Due to the points mentioned above we can only partially recommend the Chamelia Inn Ella. For a short stay it is ok, but one should not expect too much.

At the most mediocre 

Clean, modern and cozy rooms. Staff was really friendly and helpfull! Near to city center and Little Adam's Peak. Behind the hotel was great western/Sri Lankan restaurant. Great place to stay in Ella!!!
