I’ll start with the positives. 

Raj, the chap that looks after the 3 Tree Houses, is lovely and friendly. He happily will assist with trips and excursions from The Tree House. He’s able to offer guidance and advice. He can also order you some beers etc in (order in advance and get them into Raj’s freezer or fridge so they are cold when you want them. Ours came warm.)

The view from the location is great, well there are points to expand on there as the 3 Tree Houses have different views. 

The Tree Houses are small and cosy. Very rustic but then that’s why you’re looking to come to this place. If it’s not then think again. 

Breakfasts were great. We went for Sri Lankan style every time as we can do western when back in the UK of course. 

Negatives

Advance Communication via messaging on Airbnb was generally pretty poor. I’m sure this wasn’t Raj but the person/s that own the place. 

We stayed two nights. The first night we were in the tree house to the right of centre (Room 1 we’re told) as you look out to the view. This one has great views unblocked by trees a few metres in front of your balcony. We had a great sleep in this one. 

For our second night (Room 2 again we were told) we got relocated. That was a bit of a pain. We had booked a month in advance. But apparently a Honeymoon couple had booked this room specifically so we had to move. Not the end of the world but had to repack all our things which we had not be told about in advance. Would’ve been nice to have been told we thought. 

The second night was the middle Tree House which has poor views blocked by trees about 5m from the balcony. The view from the bed in this place is better as there’s a window at the foot of the bed. We didn’t sleep as well here as some kind of animal spent most of the night walking on the roof. It was quite noisy and gave you the impression that someone was walking in the room. Not the best. I guess this could happen on any room but it only happened on night 2. Didn’t have an issue on night 1. Might just be luck. 

The road is so close to the accommodations and as much as you can hear it it’s the beeping that’s a pain. It’s not an issue at night thou. 

Other Info

As far as meal options are concerned breakfast is covered with your room (I guess) but you can get meals at other times not so far away from the Tree House. At the top of the drive next to the road a little place called Jungle River Cafe does bits. The rice and curry at lunch was decent enough at 300rp. It closes early. Says open till 9pm but it’s not. It was closed by 7pm most of the time so be quick and/or check. The other option is the Hotel Breeta's Garden which is 200m up the road. It serves food till 9pm. It’s all very hotel with western food options with prices to match. Not the cheapest and not the best quality/standard. It’s ok thou. You’ll get by. 

River Rafting and a visit to Aberdeen Waterfall planned though Raj is also a great way so spend a morning or afternoon. We did Rafting in the morning and waterfall in the afternoon. 

Walking to the river to have a jump or a swim is doable from the Tree House. It’s a 2km walk downhill following the road. Stick to the road. Don’t take a footpath that leads off next to an electricity pillion.  It’s worth a go. Especially on a hot day. 

In conclusion It’s a great experience but whether it’s worth the £70pn is questionable. I don’t regret coming here but at those prices it’s pretty steep for Sri Lanka.

recommend the tree house to loving pairs or just everyone who is in love with nature..thank you so much for this amazing experience ! the tree house is so beautiful so lovely with the height of more than 30 from the ground. the host were very kind and helpful..

The tree house- Ginigathhena

The location is very pretty however this is the wettest location in Sri Lanka and when we were there it had rained a good two months incessantly. The three tree houses each have an en suite and a balcony although inside there is little space with of course a tree trunk in the centre. The host is very helpful and serves the breakfast on the covered area which is simple and either Sri Lankan or Western cuisine. All in all an experience worth having for one or two nights.

Two days in a tree house

I visited with this place with few of my friends. It was great and memorable. Staff very helpful and looked after us. When you go down like 2km from this place you can fund a nice waterfall where u can enjoy.

I was very excited when I was told that we're going to spend a weekend in a tree house. This was my first experience of this sort and I absolutely loved it. 
If you are a nature lover this is the place for you.

The service was exceptional. Rajani went out of his way to help us make it a memorable stay. We only had breakfast (the choice of local or continental) and our local one was delicious. He helped us with tips on what to do and we ended up having the best time rafting and canyoning on the nearby river. We also went on a small hike down to a different part of that same river which is a beautiful spot for splashing around. We were completely alone which only added to the serenity of the place. 

We stayed in the middle tree house and despite the bad reviews, we really liked it. It is not a fancy hotel, but you are staying in a tree house after all. The views from our room were amazing. We also didn't have any problems with bugs; we had a mosquito net over the bed and nets on the window. Perhaps an occasional gecko, but who doesn't love those (and they eat mosquitoes 😊).

We also decided to go to Adam's Peak from there which means roughly two hours in a tuk tuk. We drove during the night for the early morning ascent, but despite the initial scepticism we even managed to close our eyes a bit. It was a great ride and we got to see boars and porcupines!! 

All in all, a fantastic experience.

great experience

My partner and I decided to stay in the tree house over the weekend.. and what a beautiful experience it was.. the breathtaking view from the balcony we had in the treehouse.. wow.. a truly memorable experience.. the hospitality and care was exceptional.. we even went to Adams peak in a tuk and back to the tree house.. this was perfect for us as it was time effective and we could come back to stay in this amazing setup.. not forgetting the Rafting and canoeing we did :) a must go for all nature lovers

PS. Don't forget to ask them about the short hike to the river in the property.. through the trees to a very private and beautiful river ;)

Amazing stay.. awesome hospitality

The Tree House was absolutely magical and situated at a prime location. If you are a nature lover, then this is the exact place for you to visit. From the very first footstep you take onto the property you feel like your at home. The warm welcome and the top customer service is just superb. With such beautiful scenic view around the tree house, I will definitely go there again. Words cannot describe, Just go and stay. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

Staff - I would give 10 out of 10 for hospitality. The person named "Rajini" is just amazing and he is such a humble person and would help you on any needs. He always wanted the guests to be happy. 

Safety - I visited to this place with my wife (who is usually scare of heights) and my 5 year old son. So safety wise its 10 out of 10 again. 

We only had breakfast and it was awesome. Talk about dining with a view! WOW. Just amazing. 

Bonus - We had excellent network coverage where we used our dialog WI-FI routers and had like 5 plug points where I plugged my tab, 2 phones and router at the same time.   
My overall experience was beyond words. This is a place that everyone should visit at least once in your life time. DON'T MISS IT.

Exceptional

This place is not for everyone and UNSAFE FOR YOUNG KIDS. No hot water, the tree house moves, the beds toilet and shower are simple. thee are insects and other animals in the room at times because you're literally on a jungle tree. Also the room on the north side is right under the road.

Depends what you're looking for

Amazing place... amazing view... and amazing service!! If u want a real tree house experience you got to try this place.. unlike other tree houses where it’s placed on concrete pillars... this is actually built around a tree and the pathway to the place is via a bridge... quite thrilling and fun to get there... good facilities inside, they’ve managed to utilize the space in an optimum manner... there’s a slight swing during heavy winds, but that was the best part for me.. I quite enjoyed it (some might not prefer it)... me and my husband had the most memorable time there!! Can’t wait to go there again... ❤️

A real tree house experience!

THE MOST IMPORTANT! THIS PLACE IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR YOUR HEALTH! You can get a lot of dangerous deceases in this dirty and  “hotel”, covered with rats excrements and leeches.
We booked a tree house for one night and waited very much for the moment of settling. It was supposed that it would be very romantic and interesting. But.. We arrived in the evening, it was very dark around. On the way there were a lot of leeches and slugs, which sticks to the feet. there is no reception desk as usual, there is just a table on the street, that also will be served for the  breakfast in the morning. If you decide to stay until morning...  there is a bridge, that leads to the house, quite slippery I should say.  The house itself is very small and looks more like a booth. There are nothing for protection from insects, except a pile of poison, which lies on the perimeter, next to the rat excrement. Small ants creeped along the bed and bite very painfully. We brought insect repellent that we bought at the local store, but it is impossible to connect even with the adapter. But the last straw was a huge spider, which, it seems to me, even made sounds when moving. We packed our clothes..  two hours was too much for that place... I should mention that the hotel refused to return even half the money we payed. It was the worst hotel in our entire life. Extremely not recommended.
