We never tire of the peace and tranquillity of this place only 200 metres from the main road.  We always enjoy the friendly hospitality of Dimithu and Rose.The rooms are spacious and well equipped. We spend much of our time here walking to the local village by the lake, and this year got engaged in their local ""Save the world project,"
planting trees when 800 villagers turned out. We will return to see the outcome.

Another year another visit

We have just had a 4 night stay here using it as a base for walking in the paddy fields, visiting Sigiriya, Polonaruwa and a national park safari. The hosts are welcoming & wonderful, happy to help arrange tours, provide onwards travel advice etc. A new restaurant on stilts over the paddy is nearly completed. Food is excellent and reasonably priced. I really enjoyed the cookery class, but perhaps the highlight was slowing down and watching the wildlife from the veranda or hammocks. Or children did not want to leave. Highly recommended.

Wonderfull stay in rice villa

This is a real gem of a hotel - the rooms are spacious, with nice terraces, and set amongst lovely gardens. The family that run the place are very kind, and go out of their way to be helpful. The food is fantastic. It’s very well placed for Minneriya/Kaudulla, and Polonaruwa. Sigiriya is about an hour away and easily reached. We found it a perfect base and would recommend it. 

Lovely hosts, peaceful place 

We always come here just to see what has been added to this tranquil place.Nothing this year but hopefully the new restaurant will be up and running by next February. If you do come take a walk to and around the village lake it can be very rewarding. The food here is as good as you will get anywhere in Sri Lanka.

Another visit

Despite the very rainy (though relatively cool) weather, we enjoyed our three-night stay at this friendly family-run guesthouse. Our room (one of two in a bungalow facing onto large fields of rice) was equipped with hot water, air-conditioner, mosquito net and small terrace. The view from the terrace of extensive rice fields and of the flowers, shrubs and trees of the guesthouse was delightful, especially as various birds were busy throughout the day.

Breakfast and dinner were served on an open, well-covered platform which was comfortable both in rain and shine. Breakfast was satisfactory with the usual choices while dinner was especially good because of the unusually wide range of vegetable curries.

The WiFi was good near the reception area.

To get to Rice Villa turn east at the 60.2 kilometer marker (of the Polonnaruwa-Habarana Road) on the lane that leads to Rice Villa ("21st Cross Street").

Comfort in the Country! Delightful setting and Friendly Hosts

Great location, you can easily go for a beautiful walk around the ricefields. 
The villas are spacious, clean and really comfortable. 
The food is absolutely next level. Very tastfull breakfast, juices and diner. But the best feature is the hospitality of Dimitu and his family. Very kind and very helpful. Dimitu is also an expert on arranging trips for Pollonaruwa and around. I would easily recommend this place to everyone

Best place around Polonnaruwa

Rice Villa offers clean and comfortable villas in a peaceful location surrounded by, as promised, rice fields!

The family who run the small group of villas are welcoming, and keen to share their knowledge about the area.  A highlight for us was the fantastic dinner - dal, potato curry, chicken curry (the best we’ve had in Sri Lanka so far), string hoppers and selection of sambols.  All served with a wonderful explanation about the spices and cooking processes involved.  The food was a highlight and reason enough to visit!

We wish we had made Rice Villa our base for our visit to Sigiriya and Polonnarua!  Clean and comfortable accommodation, with a great outlook, fantastic food and a warm welcome. 

Lovely location, great food!

I was there 3 nights, with my 3 years old daughter. We had a wonderful, peaceful time at the Rice Villa. This family runned guest house is truly amazing. Dinners there are the best you can have in Sri Lanka. If you're looking for peace, quiet, comfortable beds with beautiful views, and a very warm and welcoming family, go there without a doubt!
