Had an amazing stay here. The staff was friendly specially the house keeping was really nice and super friendly! Housekeeping officer mr anil and hotel manager have taken care our needful personally. Food were amazing and buffet was awesome. There is a nice pool with fresh water.

Good place to rest after long walk

Worst hotel ever

     We booked this hotel at the last minute in a rush.  I thought it was good after reading great reviews.  But after going there, I realized that it was a wrong decision.  The room was not clean.  Ordered lunch to the room and all the ordered items did not arrive, called twice to inquire about it and finally I gave up on that idea and ordered outside food to satisfy my hunger.  Also asked for a bottle of water but didn't get it either.  Dinner was terrible.  There was some cabbage and carrots in what they called a salad without any salad or flavor.  The soup was a yellow liquid and it was cold!  They had to heat it up to try to consume it.  The glass was smelly and disgusting.  The main course was the only thing edible with grilled chicken, otherwise we would have starved.  Dessert was a poor choice between the ice cream, jelly and fruit platter!  The fruit platter was sad looking and the jelly was really cheap jelly!  Charged extra for water bottle.  Breakfast is normal, only strem hoppers. Lunch has no choices.  But with lunch they served flies. Front office, kitchen and house keeping all the staff gave poor service and they have no knowledge about hospitality.
     Overall, this is totally not worth what they charge, I'd be willing to pay 25% of that.  Couldn't wait until the next morning to leave this place.
     Will never return!

Worst hotel ever

I stayed couple of days and will not select the hotel for its rates are very high for an average business traveler. Menu, Laundry is  very high compared to similar level hotels.  Not enough trained staff to work. rooms are neglected and some of the lights fused and not checked or replaced before giving the room. Noone checked whether there were enough facilities or offered wifi or extension codes to work as the staff may have noticed me walking with the laptop bag. No instinct actions or offers. the manager seems to be incapable and did not have any courtesy to call and find out anything wrong. Once complained a plate of french fries was sent only.
I have been there before many times and now see the neglected hotel. At night the cockroaches start their explorations , which we don't like. table and chairs are highly uncomfortable. No additional plug bases for a current traveler

WILL NEVER EVER COME AGAIN!

Very nice hotel, with great pool, fresh juices en friendly staff!! Shantha helped us out with all our questions. It was nice meeting him! If we come back to sri lanka, we will definately stay here for a few nights.

Enjoying Hotel Mahanuge!!

We have all our training here, not only because they have a quiet hall, but their food is really nice. The spacious garden has a big Banyan Tree (National tree of India) which is the attraction. Very friendly staff, specially the Manager who is on the move walking around the hotel whole time. In-fact last November when my friends came to drop me, the Manager offered tea on his account. Very comfortable rooms, with a nice view in a calm and quiet environment.

One of the Best hotels though it is not a 5 star.

Good staffs specially manager Tilak, it wasn’t busy and had a good time there. Rooms are average size bathroom big enough. Room service is good always kept room and bathroom cleaning and tidy.
Food was alright.

Value for the money

Good lunch and tasty meal. Rs  800/= per person for the lunch buffet. Spacious and open restaurant. The hotel has a reception hall and rooms. Lots of parking spaces inside. Apart from American Express, Visa and Master are accepted.

Best Selection in the ancient town, many features like tour planing, nature, luxury, with golden hospitality. delicious foods, friendly staff members and isolated clam rooms value added. taking care of each and every guest for the entire period and placed in ease access location.

Where to begin...?  I’ve been in Sri Lanka for a week and two weeks in Indonesia before that and while I’ve had some good food, nothing and I say NOTHING has compared to this.  The buffet had so many different options, all of the classics and some unexpected treats (pork belly curry, short beans, long beans, bitter melon sambal, butter fried mushrooms, tempura vegetables etc. etc.). Both of us filled our plates intending to try a bit of everything but not gorge ourselves and both of us ended up practically licking the plate.  The quality of the food was high, the meat was quality, the spice was perfect (some dishes very spicy, some mild) and the service was really just the cherry on top.  All of the staff was incredibly kind and helpful and if I’m being honest, I was a little sad to have to leave.  This is worth waiting for if your on the road, or worth travelling for if you’re looking for some truly great true Sri Lankan cuisine.
