The Hotel is at a beautiful location, overseeing the valley. The place is extremely neat & tidy, The service by Vijay is excellent while the food is nice.
The atmosphere is very serene and if one wants to just chill it is an ideal spot.
Very well managed by Father Rashmi Fernando , who runs the adjoining Educational & training center.

Absolute value for money!

When you take into consideration that Kandy isn’t a beautiful clean city (from my point of view) we got very lucky finding this place. Local sir was so nice to us and the room was so cheap compared to a quality of it. Very clean, beautiful view, breakfast included and prepaired for us in an early hour. 

Great!

We booked Satyodaya because it was a cheap option, and Kandy was only a stop gap between Sirigya and Ella. We were looking for proximity to the railway station as we had to board the infamous train from Kandy to Ella around 8:30 am. We arrived at Kandy a little after dark and walked from the bus station to Satyodaya which is 20 minute walk up a steep hill, so if you’re carrying luggage you might need to hire a tuk-tuk (shouldn’t cost you more than 200 Sri Lankan rupees). We usually travel with a backpack, so although a little tedious, it was possible to walk up the hill to the guest house. The place itself is pretty big, with a seating area outside overlooking Kandy. There is a restaurant but I don’t believe they serve dinner (unsure). The rooms are small and cramped but if you’re in the city for a night and need a place to clean up and sleep, it’s not a bad option. The hosts are very friendly, and super helpful. There was only one charging point in our room so we asked if they had a multi plug and they came back with a colossal junction box, super helpful. Sit on any of their three balconies and soak in the view of the city. They’re a 10 minute walk from the Buddha statue (a popular tourist attraction). You also see the lake from their property. If you’re in the city and need to be around the railway station, yes there are other options, but Satyodaya is worth it. The earnings go to educating adults and children so your money is going to a good cause.

Great view, small rooms, helpful and friendly

This is a hotel that is linked to a big training center. Rooms are basic and OK if you follow a training in this complex, but not if you are a tourist. Staff is friendly and wifi is strong. The fiew over the city is beautiful.

Don’t go here if you are a tourist

This hotel is situated up the hill and is not advised for old-age people.The building is almost new,the rooms nice and clean, but not a sinle hanger or somewhere to hang your cloths.The room i was staying, was small, but hmmmmm, just put two single beds and voila:the room is double!!!!Magic.
The staff, some helpful and some not interested and my thanks to Gian (the good one) who was very, very helpful and cheerful.Mr Kamal(the bad one)a director??? is the one who asked me to go and have breakfast SOMEWHERE OUTSIDE, because i asked the staff to do poached eggs and they do only omelette.They did not how to do poached eggs!!!! and i was instucting how to do it and Mr Kamal comes in,complaining why they were doing this,please note:THERE WAS NOT A SINGLE CUSTOMER IN THE ROOM !!!No wonder, as i think, Mr Kamal recommendes other restaurants for breakfast outside in the town.
And the Ugly one is the lobby on the 1st floor, the have created it just outside the rooms and mornings and evenings is very, very noisy.
VERY BAD MANAGEMENT INDEED.

The Good,the Bad and the Ugly

We are a group of 5 people and stay here 4 nights. Very nice view of the city from balcony. Very nice staff that help us with Kandy day tour . Location also has a little place with grass where you can stay and get some sun. Nice rooms for the price.

One of the best place in Kandy

Dear Satyodaya, thank you so much for letting us stay five night with you.
For anyone traveling to Kandy, Sri Lanka let me list why Satyodaya is your best choice -
1) on the first floor are many tables...topped with glass cover...and DETAILED maps underneath. For a Geo major I say these maps are enough to let you explore the WHOLE of Sri Lanka without getting lost. Such maps are not for sale....but if you stay in Satyodaya, you can view them 24/7
2) Satyodaya is safe. Some places might be rowdy and 'fun' but if you are single female traveling, Satyodaya is the BEST and safest.
3) Prices are fair 
4) Sturdy beds, CLEAN sheets, TOWELS provided, 
5) Hot water and ice cold water free flow (from downstairs hall) 
6) Plenty of seating areas on first floor....for journaling, planning...anything you like 
7) Hot water in each bathroom. Even when Kandy gets a little chilly, you ARE covered.
8) Balcony is private..that means you dont have to chat with anyone you dont feel like, as you open your OWN exclusive floor to ceiling window. and Just rest off a day's touring
9) Space within bathroom to place toiletries.
10) Table and chair within room....and SOCKETS (for charging phone) lots of ways to NOT live outta suitcase (you can place stuff and use...around the room)
11) Fan has low speed, and high speeds. as according to needs. 
12) Privacy is respected so if you dont feel like chatting, no one is going to force you, unlike at  sleaze  hostels.

Best of all.....the Hero within the premise - Mr Herat, will make sure
a) he listens (awesome command of English language)
b) incredible high level of EQ means he will leave you alone, and yet help when he sense we needed more info
c) Knowledge of his lovely city and land...Sri Lanka and Kandy. It was worth staying at Satyodaya if just for meeting Mr Herat. 

DONT hesitate giving your rent money to Satyodaya. Balcony rooms are limited so hurry and book!  

Of course I know of travellers marking down airBnB 1/5 stars because they see an ant. ONE ant. 
you are coming to Kandy, 
are you sure you did your research well? of course you WILL see things alive. Kandy is not the MOON. so please understand it will smell, and look like earth. dont come to Kandy, or insult these sweet people, thinking there are no ants here.

Safe, Fair Price, Clean

The room was clean and hot water supply was available though water pressure was slow since it is located in the hill and common thing in the hotels in Kandy 

No water bottles were available though it says so in the description 

Nothing to complain for the money paid that’s also during this season time 

All in all it is a Budget place and good for short stay and they also have larger A/C rooms etc...

My review is about double bed rooms with a small balcony from which you can get glimpse of kandy town 

Double Room was cheap, small but clean

We stayed two nights. The staff is very nice and welcomes you right away! Herat is helpful and kind.
The view is wonderful. The bedroom is small but you have everything you need. The wifi works perfectly. The breakfast (not included) is good (egg/ toast/ fruits/ thé/ café).
I recommend this place for your time in Kandy :)
