We had a brilliant 1 night stay at Beam Resort. 
We arrived late but this was no problem for the very welcoming owners. We were offered continental or Sri Lankan breakfast and opted for Sri Lankan - delicious home cooked and loads of it! Which they later packed up for us to take for lunch! 
Comfy bed, WiFi & power even during the current government enforced cuts, due to them being located close by a hospital. And a beautiful garden balcony terrace to sit out on from our room! 
Would certainly stay again if we had more time in kandy!

Wonderful homestay

Such a friendly family, they made us feel so welcome. Great breakfast, so much choice, much more than we could eat. Very comfortable quiet room, comfortable bed, hot water, WiFi. They have a beautiful garden and the house is located up in the hills, 20 min walk down and 300 rupees for a tuck tuck.The family helped us to arrange a scooter and helped us with information about things to visit. We would for sure stay there if we come back to Kandy.

Amazing homestay

We stayed at Resort Beam twice during our trip to Sri Lanka.  We had a great stay both times.  The room we had was a good size, the bed was comfortable, there was plenty of hot water for the shower and the WiFi was good.  The breakfasts were fantastic, something different every day.  The family that run the homestay were friendly and extremely helpful.  They were able to give advice on things to see and do in Kandy and arrange transport for us.

Great Kandy homestay

Stayed here for 1 night but easily could have stayed longer. Nice quite place in busy Kandy. The hosts were really friendly and helpful! Pointed out everything we needed to know for our trip. Would surely recommend!

Nice quite place in Kandy

A gem of a place in the hills above Kandy and a truly delightful, warm and welcoming family. What more could you ask for in a homestay when you're on a holiday. It feels like a home and you're made to feel at home.

My family and I were in Kandy for four nights. We were fed like Kings every morning for breakfast and I bet you will be treated the same if you want to have dinner.

Every morning's breakfast was a different affair. When you're in Sri Lanka, go Sri Lankan. During our time we had hoppers, string hoppers, coconut rice, different types of sambal, chicken curry, dhal, fish cutlets (cutlets bring rissoles/patties to those in the west) coconut pancakes and rice balls with a sweet filling, fruit, yoghurt and bread. I'm sure I've forgotten something. Needless to say we didn't go hungry. If anything, we felt bad for not finishing everything on the table.

Our room was big, very comfy and cosy. The beds come with mosquito nets if you need them. Our room had a big powerful fan that the mosquitoes would struggle to fly against. There's also a seating area in front of the room and it is lovely to take in the greenery and sounds of the city in the distance or the rain.

Nirmala and Anura (mum and dad), Nuwangi and Umesh (sister and brother) are always helpful be it for recipes, getting you a hopper pan, advising you on tuktuk prices, places to go and ordering (or talking about) pizza :) if you want something delivered to your door. If you're lucky enough, you might get to sample Umesh's amazing chocolate chip cookies.

We loved having a chat with them and they with us, sharing stories about our lives in Australia and theirs in Sri Lanka. I have learnt so much from sharing stories as it connects you to people. To me that's on par with going to see the sights of this amazing land.  The Dayanandas are a genuine and heart warming family.

It was sad leaving as it truly felt like going home. All I can say is Thank God for Facebook :)

Arrive as strangers. Leave as friends.

This delightful guest house is situated on a hill overlooking the main town (and railway station). The en suite rooms in this family-run hotel are spotless and the service is very friendly and attentive. The (lady) owner and her daughter were extremely helpful in assisting me in making my travel arrangements and I felt I was treated more as a friend, then as a guest.For budget travellers, I would highly recommend the Resort Beem, which truly felt like 'a . home away from home.'

2 Night stay at the Resort Beem

Stayed there two nights with my husband. Room very comfortable and clean and modern in comparison to other places we've stayed in Sri Lanka. 10-15 minutes walk to train and bus station going downhill. About 20-25 minute walk to lake and main Street and tooth temple. Situated on very steep hill we walked to destination everyday but had to get tuk tuk home due to hill around 250&350 ruppees. Only reason I'm marking down is because of location although saying that it wasn't a problem for us as we enjoyed the walk into town and was cheap and easy to get a tuk tuk home. Host wife husband and daughter all exceptional. Very friendly and nice Sri Lankans breakfast. Gave us tips on buses etc. I would stay here again
