Went for an amazing dinner here. Some of the best food we had in Sri Lanka. A wonderful buffet style service with healthy delicious curries, veg and chicken.
The host was gracious and ended the evening with some lovely guitar. Would 100% recommend.

Excellent home cooked food from a buffet.
Friendly staff. Welcoming and with guitar played after the meal.
Roof top restaurant not open that evening due to building works but still ate outside.

A tasty meal on the hill.

We went to Sharon inn for dinner. Fantastic freshly cooked food, amazing selection- great for veggie/vegans. 
Lovely, laid back atmosphere and the owner got his guitar out at the end of the evening which added to the fun. 
Friendly waiter dropped us back to our hotel in his tuk tuk.

We were recommended the Sharon Inn restaurant as a great place for a traditional Sri Lankan dinner and what we found there exceeded all our expectations. A small hotel hidden on the slopes of the mountains that line the southern shore of Lake Kandy and are covered by the Dunumadallawa Forest, at the end of a small and steep Saranankara Road, lies a treasure of Sri Lankan hospitality. We arrived on a rainy day as a group of four, quite late at night, so we were the only guests at that time. Not even half an hour had passed since our unannounced arrival, and in the middle of the dining room, a fabulous buffet appeared, the number of courses of which exceeded receptions organized by famous restaurants. The owner himself described each specialty to us, pointed out everything that could be a pitfall for a European, and we couldn't help but be amazed at the variety of tastes and the quality of the food prepared at this time. We also had the opportunity to talk with the owner after our dinner about everything we were interested in, whether it was culture, economy, politics, the stories of his own family or our work here in Sri Lanka, he also played and sang for us. The experience was simply fabulous and we got impressed. Anyone looking for a more interesting place in Kandy than the luxury hotels or the expected tourist standard should absolutely stop at Sharon Inn. .

A concert of taste

We didn’t stay here, but came for a fabulous meal.  A true feast!  A traditional buffet of home style cooking.  The evening was relaxed & the host entertained us with music with my daughter reluctantly convinced to sing.  Would most definitely recommend staying or at least eating here while in Kandy.

The hosts are insightful and knowledgeable & were also very kind in preparing me breakdast before my (unreasonably early) outbound train journey.

The inn is also located just a short walk from the heart of the city, making this a great jumping off point for your explorations.

Good food and great company

We stayed at the Sharon Inn during our time in Kandy in March 2023. It was a great stay and we had an amazing time. The food, hospitality and comfort of our room was fantastic. We would definitely go there again and will be recommending the Sharon Inn to our family and friends! Thanks for the great service.

Great Experience!

If you look for an traditional and authentic food expérience, Sharon Inn is the best place you have to go  : discover the amazing  home made curry buffet , with wonderful tastes on a large variety of preparation: red rice, dahl, roti, spinash, radish, coco, mango, aubergine, Chicken…. And so on. You can see the cookers in thé open Kitchen and enjoy the smell before to eat. The boss is a man doing things from heart, you will feel that quickly. He took  care of us, finishing by a music song session where we sing together. Don’t miss this place!

We saw the evening buffet in the Lonely Planet guide and are really glad we decided to check it out. The hotel serves some of the best food we've had on our trip to Sri Lanka. Multiple options provided, mostly vegetarian with one meat option. Well worth the short walk up the hill.

Only had one night in Kandy but wished I could have stayed longer at Sharon Inn. The owner Fais was a great host, helping me with last minute taxis to the airport and singing us endless songs on the guitar! The room was spotless with great views out into the hills. AC and a ceiling fan. Bed was incredibly comfy. We also had the dinner buffet which was some of the best food I’ve eaten in Sri Lanka. Thanks for having us, I hope to be back one day.
