Rangala house is a beautifully restored old teaplantation house not far from Knuckles Range. The view from the porch is absolutely breathtaking. You can visit a nearby teafactory and there are nearby walks through teaplantations.
Rangala house is beautifully decoraties with lots of art. They have a swimming pool and a Playfull house cat named Loulou.
But the absolute best is the host, Anthony, and the fabulous staf, who go out of their way to make you feel at home. We enjoyed our talks with Anthony who gave us his insides of Sri Lanka and when we had to chance our plans unexpectedly we could stay the whole day without extra Cost.  The food is alsof great.
I would recommend Rangala House to everyone who wants to discover a more Hidden Sri Lanka.

Beautiful old teaplantation with fabulous view and a terrific host and staf.

We are 6 months in to a 1 year round the world trip … and Rangala House is now in the number 1 spot on our list of favourite places we have stayed! 

The property itself is beautiful and comfortable with huge rooms and beds and a large veranda with comfy seating overlooking the pool and down to the jungle covered valley below - the views are incredible. It could easily be used as a base for hiking in the Knuckles mountains, for a day trip to Kandy (1hr drive away) or simply for serious relaxation (which is what we did).

The staff and service can not be faulted, the whole team have a rare and special skill of making you feel so well looked after whilst giving you as much privacy as you need. We were so relaxed here it felt like we were living in our own dream home. The team are the nicest we’ve ever experienced - so kind and attentive, and the food and drinks are some of the most delicious we’ve had in Sri Lanka.

Heaven on earth in the Sri Lankan hills

Rangala House is a beautiful oasis of calm that was very difficult to leave! The host Anthony and his team of staff looked after us so well from the moment we arrived. We stayed for 2 nights and ate dinner cooked by the in-house chefs. Most of the ingredients are from their own garden. The food was absolutely incredible, the most delicious curries, vegetables and dhal. There is a lovely pool that you can use and the bay window room which we stayed in was very comfortable and clean with a beautiful view across the mountains. Anthony also has some printed directions for  walks which take you through local tea plantations. If you want a peaceful stay with incredible food and scenery outside of Kandy then this place is for you! 

A hilltop gem

Stayed 2 nights and we absolutely fell in love with Rangala house. The building and location are exceptionally unique and beautiful, it really is breathtakingly pretty. We will always remember staying here. The staff who work here could not be kinder and the food is exceptional. It has everything you could need to enjoy the surrounding area and just relax and soak up the beauty of the place.

Incredible location, food and hospitality

We had four wonderful nights at Rangala House with day trips to Kandy, a working tea factory, plus an expertly guided hike - all kindly and professionally arranged by the friendly and wonderfully attentive staff at Rangala House. Peaceful gardens, a lovely pool, fabulous food, and four remarkably good nights’ sleep - while waking up to spectacular views over the Knuckles Mountains.

Our best experience in Sri Lanka,
Anthony and Sam are great hosts, the staff is very kind and helpful,
We had an amazing  food experience and great relax with an incredible view from the veranda. 
We really enjoyed the friendly and familiar atmosphere and the stylish design with charming local details.
The lovely pool in the spice garden is making this place unique. 
We also enjoyed interesting local experiences, as light trekking and a visit to the local tea factory. We loved it all!

Our favorite guesthouse!

Gem of a place to stay in hill country and was definitely our favourite. Stunning views and sunsets whilst sitting on beautiful large verandah for breakfast, sundowners and supper. Anthony, Sam and Amila are such wonderful hosts and create a warm welcoming atmosphere. Great walks straight from the property and also had an excellent guided walk with their local guide Nero. Fantastic varied food each night and excellent breakfast too. The gardens are beautiful surrounding the lovely pool and produce is supplied from their own vegetable garden, cows and chicken. We stayed for 5 nights and took the opportunity to play golf at VIctoria golf club which was a real bonus. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality we shall return!!!

Wonderful house and hosts

Without doubt our most enjoyable stay in Sri Lanka. Whether it be the food, the view or just chatting with Anthony, the combination was perfect. 
We were the only people staying at the time so it did feel like our private residence;  should however there have been other guests there would have been plenty of space. 
The surrounding countryside is beautiful and we took ourselves off for a couple of walks in the tea plantations but nothing in comparison to the trek with Neru as the guide which was brilliant. 
We could have stayed a good few more days, enjoying the view the food the chat. Well, we must return!

Best place we stayed in throughout Sri Lanka

Rangala House is a haven of peace and tranquility. Right from the moment we arrived, Anthony and his wonderful team treated us with such kindness and made us feel so welcome. The veranda offers exceptional views and is the perfect place to relax and unwind. The food, served while you gaze out at the panoramic view, is outstanding. On our trip, this was the best Sri Lankan food we've had. A beautiful and carefully tended garden with fresh produce for food surrounded the fantastic pool. 

Taking a walk through the tea plantations around the house is an equally impressive experience, with tea workers greeting you and ensuring a truly authentic experience. Our stay also included a swim in natural pools along the river, which the team kindly arranged. 

There is something truly special about what Anthony and Sam have created at Rangala House. Your stay here will be filled with warmth and kindness, and you are sure to have a truly magical experience! We cannot recommend highly enough. 


Wonderful house and hosts!

Gorgeous indoor space with spectacular views over the mountains and the tea fields. The food is excellent and the rooms are very cozy and clean. The staff is attentive and Anthony is a great host, chatting with the guests and giving us helpful advice and sightseeing sugestions.
