We booked this hotel for our parents 3 weeks before their arrival. This is their first ever holiday in Sri Lanka. Before making the booking through Booking, we came to this place in person to see the area and speak with the manager. We liked everything, we asked about the price and the manager told us the price was higher than on Booking, which seemed strange, but I did not pay attention to it and said that in this case, I will book a room through the Booking, the manager agreed, and we did it the same day.

Less than a day later, when my parents were already flying to Sri Lanka, the owner of the hotel writes us in messages on Booking to cancel the reservation, because there was some problem with our room, namely "a problem with the plumbing". My outrage was unparalleled and I didn't want to believe it. All the owner could offer was to look for a room in another hotel in the same area 🤡 We were not offered an alternative room, it was of course impossible to fix the breakdown by the time we arrived.  It was immediately clear that we were going to be screwed. When I offered to meet to discuss all the details in person and to show me the breakdown, the owner only looked for any excuse not to meet, allegedly he is out of town, and the staff without him will not help, you can draw your own conclusion.

I personally arrived at the hotel the morning before and saw that our room was occupied by another woman who had gone out on the balcony to hang damp laundry. An obvious "plumbing problem" and our room. For a long time, the staff humoured me and tried to ignore me, but eventually one of them told me that this woman would continue to live here. I had no doubt about it, probably the other guest was willing to stay at an inflated price, so they decided to cheat us by choosing another guest. It turns out that these people cheat all tourists: some are thrown with accommodation, others overestimate the price tag. 

The owner of this hotel is the worst representative of local people, this situation only spoils the impression of Sri Lanka and the hospitality of the Lankans. 

I contacted the police about the incident, the officer with me called the owner and summoned him for an interview the next day. If you have a similar situation, don't hesitate to contact the police, I was at the station for no more than 25 mins, I was quickly received, listened to and tried to help. The more complaints, the more seriously the police will punish such hotels.

The owner of this hotel will definitely screw you over, do not stay here ever!

The Dew Drop Villa is a few minutes walking to the beach, restaurants, and bus stop.  Our room had a large, comfy bed with a mosquito net, ceiling fan, hot water shower, and was clean. The morning breakfast was Ceylon tea or coffee (made from a french press), toast, butter, and jam with eggs and fresh fruit. Tasty and presented by the staff with a smile. The owner Mr. Hassy and his mother made us feel at home and made sure we had everything we needed. Hassy sama arranged for us our airport transfer and was available for any questions about the area. We did a nice tour of the tea plantation and the cinnamon island with him. Just a good dude and for us... Hassy is the man! Arigato!

Nice place and kind people!

We spent here 5 wonderful days and liked it very much. Cozy Comfortable villa with all you need. Good breakfasts, free water, clean rooms and the best host - Hassy - we ever saw. Much greenery around and modern renovation. It’s far from crowdy town, for quite rest near the sea. There are two paradise beaches not far from and good restaurants - Try tuna steak in Dorian!

Somehow we managed to forget the wallet in the room and remember about it only after 3 days in the other place))))) Already wanted to say goodbye to it, but decided to try to write Hassy - he quickly answered and was very attentive. Found the wallet and helped to transfer it to us. Believe not believe, but it’s real story! Hassy, thank you!!! Our hugs!)))

It was really nice!

It is very nice place. Clean, comfortable and not too expensive. Stuffs are friendly and good english speaking profesionals. It's near the many surfing spots a many good restaurants. This place offers many interesting trips and tips. 

Surf holiday in Sri Lanka

Stayed here for 4 nights and loved it. Family are so kind and helpful and the rooms were spacious and clean. Very close to beach but also a quiet area so very peaceful. Owner offers scooter and surfboard rental which makes life very easy! They also have a very cute dog! Great place would 100% recommend! 

Amazing! 

We backpacked in Sri Lanka and were looking for a nice surfing place around weligama. 
We stayed longer than planned in the dew drop and I could have stayed many days more. Hassy is the owner and lives there with his wife, son and mom. Very friendly, english speaking family. Absolutely relaxed.
We used the kitchen sometimes to prepare fruits or juices. 
The beach, which is 1min away from the Villa is nice for advanced surfers.
You can also do a lot of stuff around weligama, therefore you can lend one of Hassys scooters or he can also do some excursion with you if you like. Mirissa and Koggala is not far with the scooter, a lot of beautiful beaches around. 
I really would like to come back again.
