The Leopard Lodge is such a great place. Quiet, fantastic rooms, excellent service and such friendly, attentive staff.  They provide plenty of food which is included in the price!  Pool. 

Close to Yala National Park. 

Would recommend it to anyone.

A great find, at a good price.

We were totally disappointed by this lodge and the worst part is we didn‘t even see a face of the staff there. We arrived in Yala at 11:30AM after driving all the way from Ella and ended up standing in front of closed gates. We called the hotel and they said that the room would be availavle at 2PM which was according to our booking. What we thought was weird was that nobody was inside the hotel because it was locked from the outside and we couldn‘t even leave our luggage or freshen up quickly at the public washroom (we had a safari booked at 2:30PM). So we went to eat something and came back at 2PM, gates still closed. We called again and the person said that they will arrive in 5-15 minutes MAYBE. We just felt completely played for a sucker and helpless. So we decided to go on the safari without getting changed.
When we got back the gates were open but nobody was there. There were other people waiting as well and they said that only one person was working at this time. It was then when I first had WIFI connection again and received an Email from the Yala Leopard Lodge where they told us that the room would be available at 4PM due to electrical problems. However there was still nobody around and we decided to go and look for another lodge to stay. Fortunately we were able to cancel the booking for free after this disaster!

Total disaster

This is a very good place to stay on the edge of Yala. Staff are very good and look after you well. The food was good as well. The rooms are good and clean. The pool is a welcome sight after a hot safari trip. This is well worth a stay if you are visiting Yala. 

Good place for Yala

This hotel is located, as the name suggests, on the edge of Yala National Park. It is reasonably secluded and you get a sense of being in the wild. The rooms are reasonably well appointed and the pool is very inviting. The customer service was excellent and our needs were catered for. Worth a visit.

Positive:
1.nice design of the room
2.nice staff
3.very close to Yala national park,500 meters from the main road to Yala entrance.Better go from Kirinda than Tissa.
4.Delicious meals,but very expensive
5.Fast wifi in room
6.They can organize Yala safari for you,but it is a little bit expensive than safari jeeps in Tissa or Kirinda.It costs 5000 rupees for jeep and than admission price 6000 rupees for 2 people
7.I made reservation for 3 nights and we wanted to stay just 2 nights.It was no problem,I got the right receipe just for 2 nights and after that they charged my money from card.

Negative:

1.bathroom could be cleaner,but the rest of the room is clean and nice
2.expensive meals-15$ dinner and 7,5$ breakfast
3.everything is managed from head office in Colombo,so the staff does not know anything and speak very weak English

Good

Positive first. The rooms are clean and the staff is nice.

The lodge itsself is more of a homestay at the price of a 4Star hotel.
After booking we got an email stating we need to select our menu in advance. In a unfriendly mail conversation they told us, that we need to select the same menu as a couple. Price for dinner, 15 $ each.

They charged my creditcard unasked for the two nights, without any information or receip, using my card details from booking.com. This is absolutely inacceptable, as terms of booking.com clearly stated that the room is payed at the Hotel.

Additionally they charged me 170$ for a Safari we never had with them. I will have to advice my bank to undo this chargement as the management in Colombo only cares to take your money.

Conclusion: Don't be fooled by the recommendation in the Travellanka booklet. This is absolutely not worth the price. If you decide to stay there, have an eye on your creditcard chargements
