We have booked this property after seen a fb post. From the time I had the first call to hotel till the check out from the hotel we are totally satisfied about this little on the beach villa. The rooms are newly renovated and the amenities are luxurious. The rooms are fully and partially sea view. The pool is nice overlooking the Indian ocean. Mawella beach is just about 20 meters from the hotel which is a nice beach in the area. The food is fine and you will get for what you pay. Overall we are satisfied with our stay and if you are a foreigner who are looking for a relax stay at a reasonable price with great service Mawella Beach resort is the best. 

Excellent place to Relax

Quite a new hotel with extremely spacious modern beach cabanas. Surprisingly low priced as compared with the adjoining properties. Right at the centre of the Mawella beach. Professional and friendly staff who are considerate about the guests’ comfort. Decent breakfast and other meals. Highly recommended. 

Meeting more than expectations

We had a wonderful stay here! The cabanas are recently renovated and we were very impressed with the facilities. Huge rooms, clean fluffy sheets, big shower and tv. We were the only guests during our stay and had a wonderful chat with the staff. Pool was clean and direct beach access. Food was just okay but the fish was fresh. WiFi was a bit slow. Would definitely recommend for the value. 

Great stay at Marwella Beach Resort

We came for 3 days, extend for another 2 and are planning to return soon. Nice little hotel off the main road and directly at the beach. So much higher standard than some of the other places we have stayed in Sri Lanka, very positive surprise! Owner was helpful and friendly and the staff working hard and committed to assist as much as possible. Meals can be ordered and we ate there several times and were always satisfied. The beach was great! Long stretch of sand, clean water, almost empty except some fisher boats and two little shacks who serve drinks and food. Definitely the most relaxing days of our month in Sri Lanka!

Relaxing days at the beach

The location was great. The owner & staff is very helpful. Lovely beach.The cabanas are very nice & clean..Pool is also lovely and the grounds of the hotel are really peaceful.A place to go if you want to relax.

Great Place to stay vacation

This resort is perfectly located by the Mawella beach. I have never seen such an empty, beautiful beach. Because of the location I would definitely go back. The resort also has a nice pool area just in front of the beach with sun chairs. They do a good effort to keep it clean and nice. 
The staff is super friendly and adorable. The rooms are just OK. It's just a wall separating the bathroom and bedroom,  which means that it is not so much privacy in the bathroom. The bed made lots of sounds at the slightest movement. Would go somewhere else for food. 

Amazing location and staff,  OK rooms 

Booked this place because of the reviews, but it doesn’t have everything it says has ie; tv in the room no aerial sockets and when I asked why I was told can’t have tv because of the monkey! No bar , if you wanted the restaurant you had to book a day in advance!
WiFi exceptionally slow. You had to get a tuk tuk or get the bus anywhere.
Rooms very basic never cleaned whilst I was there for 7 days bedding never changed had to ask for clean towels. $5 for breakfast . To remote so checked out after 7 days instead of staying 14 owner gave me most of my money back . If you go make sure you get enough supplies so you don’t have sod about with transport. Best bit the beach stunning!!!! Requested a lower floor room due to sight impairment but got an upstairs room with the most dangerous staircase did not feel safe.

In the middle of nowhere

On arrival the Friday afternoon the person meeting us told us they don't have staff to cook or clean. We could have breakfast, and omelette and toast, but no lunches or dinner. If we where informed earlier we could have taken snacks or made better arrangements. Being Easter weekend most restaurants where closed as well, which made finding a place to eat interesting. 
The bungalows are very dark there is nothing to place your bags on. Luckily there is a fridge where we stored the drinks and snakes we eventually bought from a corner shop. 
There was no drinks service and our room was not made up or cleaned in three days. 
As it was a pet friendly hotel we took our beagles with. We did not have any problem with our dogs and the hotel never complained. After our visit they changed their policies to no pets, when asked why, did our dogs do something wrong, they ignored our emails. 
There are plenty of other nicer places to support in future. 
This hotel can learn some communication skills.
