We have booked this property after seen a fb post. From the time I had the first call to hotel till the check out from the hotel we are totally satisfied about this little on the beach villa. The rooms are newly renovated and the amenities are luxurious. The rooms are fully and partially sea view. The pool is nice overlooking the Indian ocean. Mawella beach is just about 20 meters from the hotel which is a nice beach in the area. The food is fine and you will get for what you pay. Overall we are satisfied with our stay and if you are a foreigner who are looking for a relax stay at a reasonable price with great service Mawella Beach resort is the best. 

Excellent place to Relax

We stayed 6 nights in this very quiet hotel with few rooms The recently renovated rooms are very spacious and well equipped The staff is very kind and the owner very flexible We wanted to leave earlier than planned to finally discover more about Sri Lanka (and not at all because we weren't very good I'm just saying) and it was very arranged I recommend the beach of Hiriketiya 10 minutes from tuk tuk and Dikwella with the Mahi Mahi restaurant

Very good address

The hotel has been completely renovated recently and we can say that everything is PERFECT! - Very good position feet in the water. Alone in the world, away from tourist beaches and big cities, ideal for recharging. - The staff is very welcoming. - The rooms are clean, well equipped (including climate and wifi) and tastefully decorated. - The little dej is complete + Possibility to eat on site at noon and evening (don't hesitate to warn the staff in advance) - The pool is also a large +. Alone in the world in a great hotel

Quite a new hotel with extremely spacious modern beach cabanas. Surprisingly low priced as compared with the adjoining properties. Right at the centre of the Mawella beach. Professional and friendly staff who are considerate about the guests’ comfort. Decent breakfast and other meals. Highly recommended. 

Meeting more than expectations

We had a wonderful stay here! The cabanas are recently renovated and we were very impressed with the facilities. Huge rooms, clean fluffy sheets, big shower and tv. We were the only guests during our stay and had a wonderful chat with the staff. Pool was clean and direct beach access. Food was just okay but the fish was fresh. WiFi was a bit slow. Would definitely recommend for the value. 

Great stay at Marwella Beach Resort

Booked this place because of the reviews, but it doesn’t have everything it says has ie; tv in the room no aerial sockets and when I asked why I was told can’t have tv because of the monkey! No bar , if you wanted the restaurant you had to book a day in advance!
WiFi exceptionally slow. You had to get a tuk tuk or get the bus anywhere.
Rooms very basic never cleaned whilst I was there for 7 days bedding never changed had to ask for clean towels. $5 for breakfast . To remote so checked out after 7 days instead of staying 14 owner gave me most of my money back . If you go make sure you get enough supplies so you don’t have sod about with transport. Best bit the beach stunning!!!! Requested a lower floor room due to sight impairment but got an upstairs room with the most dangerous staircase did not feel safe.

In the middle of nowhere

Obviously, the facilities here have been completely renovated in the last few years. Otherwise we cannot explain the previous reviews. The bungalows are now painted white. The interior of the rooms is convenient and clean. There is a great pool in the beautiful garden and just behind it is a beautiful beach. We spent the last four days here before the flight home and couldn't imagine a better place for it! The staff is extremely friendly and the cook is just a spectacle! It's best to let him have his hands free. There's always something more delicious coming out of it!

A hotel enjoying a very nice situation but unfortunately THREE SALES!!!! Noisy at night (thanks to the dogs, the air conditioning and the drains that bring up the sewers) Not much to do with the photos and reviews on booking.com We booked for 4 nights, and we left after the first even though we had paid for 4 nights in advance!

Three salts - very dirty

This resort is perfectly located by the Mawella beach. I have never seen such an empty, beautiful beach. Because of the location I would definitely go back. The resort also has a nice pool area just in front of the beach with sun chairs. They do a good effort to keep it clean and nice. 
The staff is super friendly and adorable. The rooms are just OK. It's just a wall separating the bathroom and bedroom,  which means that it is not so much privacy in the bathroom. The bed made lots of sounds at the slightest movement. Would go somewhere else for food. 

Amazing location and staff,  OK rooms 

It's a nice quiet place for perfect rest, yoga and meditation. The volunteer staff and the local resident are the Habbat dog, the kindest Labrador on the beach. Although all the local dogs are nice, friendly, and will always give up their snacks) The beach is deserted, very picturesque. I would definitely recommend hanging out with the local fishermen and experiencing an experience like fishing the old-fashioned way of grandparents! You can find our friend, a fisherman named Janek, who will explain and tell you everything in detail! Everyone on the beach knows his snack!
