I stayed at this home state for five nights and it was amazing. Grace is an outstanding Cook and the meals were totally delicious. Also speaks excellent English and will take you you hiking on request, and their daughter Romani and her husband Dushan speak excellent English and will do everything possible to make your stay memorable. The accommodation is super pretty and spacious and very reasonably priced, and overall I recommend this property unreservedly. They only have two chalets and their telephone number is +9 4 7 9 1 2 6 1 0, so best to book direct rather than go through agencies.

Also enjoyed the trips we did with Lal, be sure not to miss them!
And take something warm for the evening, although they can provide you with a hot-water bottle.

A true gem! Great stay and tours

Sincere Wilderness is a deeply special place. Immediately upon arrival, we were welcomed graciously by Romeni and her parents, Lal and Grace, and their constant warmth made us feel a part of their family. From preparing delicious home-style breakfasts and dinners, to ordering tuk tuks, to coordinating excursions like a nature hike and tea plantation tour, they did everything imaginable to make our time Nuwara Eliya magical. We had the larger unit with 2 floors and our friends had the other cottage, and all of us found it to be comfortable and homey. We stayed for 4 days and my only regret is that we didn't stay far longer. Don't miss this place!

Magical Homestay Experience

The place is great! We felt home straightaway, Lal and his family were welcoming and generous, they looked after us throughout our stay. The food was also so delicious!! 
And we loved the place, it’s beautiful and charming:)

Amazing stay!

We stayed here in December 2018 but have stayed in touch with the family and Romeni and her family recently held a virtual cookery class during COVID19 lockdown which was awesome. 

When we stayed in 2018 our stay was perfect. Great location & accommodation. But most importantly the hosts Romeni, Grace and Lal were so warm, friendly and kind. 

Lal took us on a tour of the area and really knows his stuff about wildlife and plants. Grace and Romeni held a cookery class for us. Lal also massively helped us at short notice with travel to our next stop on our travels when the local train service let us down. 

You must stay here! Cosy little cottage.

Perfect stay

We always book the cottage where we have a dining lounge,  upstairs bedroom, and outside space. Graces' food is very good,varied and plentiful. Romeni  the hostess is exceptionally  pleasant to talk to and  can organise anything you want to do. Lal the man of the house is a very experienced tour guide so you have a complete holiday  package in one family.

A must stay for us

We’ve been to this guesthouse thanks to the amazing reviews and now it’s our turn to make you want to discover this family!!
We were looking for a nice, calm and cosy guesthouse and we found the perfect one!
We booked one night first and then we changed our plan to stay one more night... 
All the family is very welcoming, when we arrived we had a free coffee, biscuits, banana in our cute room! We had a dinner there and the food was amazing. next day we asked Romani to learn how they make food and we had 2 hours of cooking while explaining all the recipe! I took so much notes and now I’m ready to cook some amazing curries!! It’s a bit colder than other part of Sri Lanka but it’s a good thing ! For the night they prepare hot water to get warmer, so kind ! The second night we tried the new chalet, the room is beautiful and very spacious. The bathroom is also big and very clean. We had a balcony so you can watch the sunset. Romani father’s bring us to a trail between the tea tree! Don’t miss it and do not hesitate to choose this home stay you will never regret it !!!

Best home stay in Sri Lanka don’t miss it

We had such a beautiful stay here in the chalet located in a very peaceful environment but still only a short 10 min walk away from town. Romeni and her family were very welcoming and friendly. We had their dinner and so far we have not had anything better! It was a quick stopover for us but I wish we spent more time here! The tuk tuk driver recommended by romeni was also very friendly and took us around town around the back routes. Thank you so much :) Maddie and friends 

Beautiful chalet stay with welcoming family

We spent two nights here as a family and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Lal, Grace and Romeni were so welcoming and couldn't do enough for us.
The accommodation was great and really spacious - having been staying in hotel rooms prior to coming here, it was lovely to have a seating and dining area to relax in.
The house is up a hill looking down over the town and mountains, and was just a short stroll into the town.
The food was the best we've had in Sri Lanka - the evening curries are amazing, and we all loved the cookery class.
Overall we loved our stay here and would highly recommend it.

Wonderful hospitality and home cooking

We had 2 nights here in the guest appartment and loved it. We had a very warm welcome from Romeni and Grace (and Snowy!), and were well looked after throughout our stay. A special mention has to be made about Grace's amazing cooking - the 2 meals we had were the best food we've had during our whole holiday in Sri Lanka. Absolutely delicious. The breakfasts were great too. Very comfortable bed with a bonus hot water bottle supplied to take the edge off the evening chill. Highly recommended.
