When we go out of Colombo, we drop in at their awanhala/wayside restaurant to have our breakfast and to have tea or lunch on our way back to Colombo. This time too we did the same and going out of Colombo after the pandemic.

Compared with other fast food outlets, it is expensive but ok with us. This time their short eats were merely bland and the bread roll of the egg bun was somewhat not fresh. Worst part is we dropped around 2.30 on our way to Colombo to have some sandwiches (many thanks to the Sungreen Resort, we had a nice breakfast and were not fully hungry). Since there no sandwiches at the awanhala, we crossed the road and reached their main restaurant to have some tea with club sandwiches (couple of years ago, it was good).

I don't think I can describe it as club sandwiches, but mini vegetable sandwiches stuffed with salad leaves and Bombay onions with a small thinly cut piece of tomato and a very small piece of ham. But it was nicely decorated and bulked with potato chips. The tea pot also contained more tea, but less milk. Completely an eye sore and a rip off. However very price by local standards. Those so called club sandwiches rubbish was Rs 765.63.

Now that these hotels have been taken over by the Galle Face Hotel group, they should provide a quality service in terms of many aspects. They should not rip off any customer whether local or foreign.

Very old rooms with no tiles on the floor. But it consists with all basics but a refrigerator. Clean towels and linens. Very old bathwear. There are cockroaches every where in the room. Cupboard surfaces are covered with dusts.  Avoid overnight stay. But it has a good restaurant .

Ambience was so nice with the one playing flute and we received a warm welcome from the staff, As always we got the best service from your team; felt like home.  Food was great, Lovely presentation and good selection. 
We enjoyed a lot.

BREAKFAST - 22ND NOVEMBER 2019 - 13PAX

On our way back to Colombo after an office trip we ordered nearly 100 packs of Club Sandwich from this place. We placed this take away order one month back and paid an advance payment also. Unfortunately that was the worst and the low quality club sandwich we have ever seen. We paid Rs.690/- each. Heritage Ambepussa people don't know what a club sandwich is. Inside two slices of bread we found only tiny pieces of carrots, cucumber,onion and lettuce. Not even little bit of butter. This is how this shameless Heritage Ambepussa treat the customers. Thereafter we complained to the Manager who is responsible for this dirty business. He directed us to the Chef and he told us that, this is how they prepare for take away packs.Also the chef mentioned that they are been paid poor salary. I don't know what he was trying to say? Chef and the Manager at Heritage Ambepussa are dumb fellows. We understand that they do this dirty trick for take away packs because the customers can't come again with the food packs from Colombo or wherever their destination is. Then we complained CHC head office in Colombo to their top management. They are also silent and hiding like snails. Shame on CHC HERITAGE AMBEPUSSA. We (more than 100 people) will never step into this cunning place and no any CHC Hotels. Don't trust this place. Don't waste your money. See the images of Heritage Ambepussa Club Sandwich.(Rs.690/- each) We paid nearly Rs.69000/- for 100 packs. Shame on you Heritage. Never trust and never visit.

Very bad experience - Never go again.

We went with our family to the rest to have some tea on our way from Kandy.. such a waste of money... we ordered milk coffee and plain tea.. both were terrible! The tea was really really bad! We have so much of good Sri Lankan tea in this country! Why can’t u guys serve good tea to ur customers! It was terrible! And then the coffee! Geez that was horrible! I seriously don’t know why u can’t serve some good quality products to ur customers! It cannot be the cost cause good quality tea and coffee is available even at a small store at an affordable cost.. plus no snacks were available for tea , we asked whether we can get some cake or rolls .. the serving gent said they only have sandwiches.. so sad why this kind of a property’s management doesn’t manage this place more efficiently! It’s mere ignorance! Very sad! Such a lovely place in terms of the location! 

Waste

Lovely food , Wonderful Manager who was very friendly and helpful . The Stewards too were very efficient . A good selection of food . Perfect service !!  We would always remember Lakmal the friendly Manager allways with a smile !!   

PERFECT STOP FOR A BREAK

People serving have no manner, quality of food very very poor. Once the food is over they should close the buffet but they continue offering to rip you off. Staff have no respect for the guests. We will strongly dissuade people visiting this place

Lunch buffet total cheating once one dish is over you never see that dish again

Stayed for a night on the way to Nuwara Eliya. Beautiful property and had a great lunch there. The property and the restaurant menu really takes you back in time. Service could be improved. I just love sitting at the varendah and watch the world go by.

A beautiful Heritage Boutique Hotel

Dropped in for breakfast with family end August on the way to Kandy from Colombo
Parking is available. That is one of the good things about this place compared to other places to eat on the Colombo Kandy road. Most of the other places have only a few roadside parking spaces.
Toilets were OK. Service was acceptable.
Food was generally OK. Not impressive. Rather over priced for the quality available.
The flies about the place were a bother.
Do not expect the quality of a 3,4 or 5 star Hotel.
There is a flute player for your entertainment. But the sometimes monotones playing can be an irritation too.

The only good thing about this restaurant is they had lovely cold LION beer!  The only Lion beer we found during our entire Sri Lankan holiday. 
The service is bad, the food is poor and rather expensive. Looked to be many other lunch options on the other side of the street. 
The toilet facilities were good.
