The extended family and I stayed here for 3 nights for a friends wedding near by. The villa is clean and is of ample size for 3 families. The pool was amazing for the kids ( we had four under five between us) to cool off and if you get the timing right ( like my father in law) you can escape the sun too! 
The team / chef, who also reside on site, were always around to be of assistance but not in an intrusive manner , in addition to cooking delicious srilankan food. Best feature for me was the fact that it sat right on the beach so you have local fisherman offering up the indian oceans freshest treasures daily for our chef to cook in any manner we please. 
A wedding brought us to the region but the scenic location and friendly staff will certainly bring us back ! A big thanks to the Ranna beach team for making our stay comfortable and safe.

Beautiful location and friendly staff ! 

I stayed here with family for 3 days to relax before wedding . Great place... amazing pool and beside the sea. It's  quite rough waters but has a lagoon beside it which is calmer.  Food is ridiculous!!! The chef was very talented and the cost of each meal was excellent value. 
Fresh fish bought off the fisherman who are out on the beach every morning! 
The villa is pretty remote which adds to the charm. 
I must say the staff were absolutely superb... couldn't of been more helpful ... even helped to stitch my aunties wedding sari blouse before the big day !!!! Thank you

Family stay before wedding

We spend 10 days at the end of January and bigining of February 2020 at the villa which have 3 bedrooms, a private garden and a pool.
A sandy beach is just at the end of the garden, with fishermen's boats. 
The place and the beach are very beautiful, calm and quiet, And we saw lots of animals, it was great !
The team is very nice and helpfull, always smiling, they made everything to make us feel good and comfortable.
They organized everything for us, it was perfect.
Special thanks to Kumara and chef Prasad for the delicious food (srilankan breakfast and fresh fish and lobster !)

Great stay at the Ranna Beach Villa

We came to Sri Lanka to celebrate my cousins wedding in Hambamtota and chose this gem of a place to stay before and after the wedding. We stayed one week and we cannot say thank you enough for the wonderful stay at Fox Resort Rana Beach and making the family wedding an experience amazing. A big thank you goes to Kumara, Prasad, Chanuka and the rest of the team. They did everything to make us feel welcome and at home and assisted us with so many things. Drove us to Udawalawe national park, to the Mehendi party and even helped us with fixing a saree! The food was wonderful, better than a 5 star resort! The beach and location breathtaking and pool was wonderful. We want to come back! Thank you so much! :)

Amazing stay! 

I came here after checking out early from another hotel in Tangalle where I had a terrible experience and the Ranna made up for it!  I was originally looking at another place which is a couple of doors down from here which was full up hence why I booked here.  You could see that other villa from the garden of the Ranna and it appeared to have more of a hotel vibe to it than this villa.  Everyone was sat on the sun loungers there next to the pool close to each other whereas in the Ranna there were only 4 rooms and if there were 8 people here you could still comfortably spread out the sun loungers in the garden and have your own space.  I am pleased I booked here instead of there.

Location – Great! – Obviously if you are looking for a hotel here you are aware it is a remote location with a beautiful beach.  In the 2 days we were here we walked a couple of kilometres up the beach West in the afternoon and East in the evening and saw just a handful of people.  There are only 3 or 4 other smallish hotels down the beach either way so you are never going to run into that many people.  The beach itself was clean and with some natural swimming pools close to the hotel just after the fishing boats.  The sea itself though is rough though so not sure you could really swim in it comfortably.

Room – Good! - The room was clean, the bed was comfortable with a mosquito net and the air conditioning worked well and there was an overhead fan.  The shower was hot and there were two sinks and a bath as well.  The room also came with added extra protection against the mosquitos as occasionally one of the cute little frogs from the garden would come in the room and sit on the shelf going around the room waiting for something to eat!  

Food – Great! – The food was really great here.  For breakfast there was toast, jam, omelettes, bacon, sausages and a kind of egg on top of a pancake thing which was nice!  The dinners though were really great!  I recommend the mixed rice and the fish.  We asked them to get us some tuna and they cooked a really nice tuna dinner along with the rice which was one of the best meals I have had in Sri Lanka.  The chocolate mousse was good as well.

Rest of the hotel – Good! - The hotel had a pool but did not use it and as per the original comment in the intro the hotel had a decent sized garden you could sit in on the sun loungers.  There were enough trees around as well that you could find shade to put them under.

Staff – Great – The two guys running the place, Prasad and Chanuka, were nice guys who were always smiling and happy to take your orders for variations from the menu for dinner and breakfast.  I didn’t ask them to help with anything else but they seemed very accommodating and I’m sure they would have been happy to help out with any queries or requests I might have had.

This place was Great!!  Read this before you book any other hotel in the region!!

Ranna Beach Villa is 3 bedroom villa with a private garden and a pool, next to a long sandy beach. All the time there is staff at your service. They have their own part of the villa, they cook, clean, drive, shop, whatever you need. And they are really nice and helpful. 
What to say? The place is beautiful, well maintained and has a charm. We were unlucky and had floods during our 4 days stay so we changed our flight and stayed 2 more days to profit from the sun when it finally appeared. We were 2 families with 3 kids, 7-10y. The hall, terrace, garden with pool and a sort of tree house for kids are just great, neat and have good vibes. The beach is long, sandy, sea is warm and fun. The local fishermen come back form the sea every morning with their catch, “park” the slim boats on the sand and leave to the market. You do not see any row of folding beds with sunshades. We had breakfast included, perfect. Then we organised other food with the cook, mainly fresh fish. You organise everything with the boys and it works. If you are with kids, beware that everything is spicy – even the French fries (peper). Just to say all, the rooms are ordinary, with big bathrooms, there is nothing special about them. Beds, sofa, mosquitos net, coffee, tea. But clean and well maintained. 
In the past we visited Sri Lanka many times and stayed in many different hotels but this one was a good surprise for us. Clean with perfect service.

We recommend!

I stayed two nights with a friend in the villa. Our stay was amazing. The villa and garden are incredibly beautiful, as well as the beach at the end of the garden. The staff was very friendly and competent. The food prepared by the cook was delicious (for dinner, we had some lobster :)). Many thanks to Kumara (in charge), Chanuka and Chef Prasad. Thanks to you, we had an amazing stay and time in the villa, the best memory of my stay in this wonderful country. We will come back!

Amazing time in Ranna Beach Villa

Loved our stay here.
Beautiful beachfront property with amazing staff and food.
Prasad and Kumara were so hospitable and always went out of their way to get our items. 
They arranged us a beautiful bonfire by the beach for dinner and everyone loved it.

Gem of a place

We accidentally came across Fox Resort and decided to give it a go. With the help of Fox Resorts Sales team (Mr. Devon & Julian), we manage to get a last minute booking. 

Once we arrived at the place only we realized that this place is truly a gem. 
We were bit lucky that entire villa was to our selves that day. But it was only one good thing among many. 

Here are few:
The only sound you will hear entire day is Sea Waves.
The view from our room was Green patch with Coconut trees and the Blue color Ocean at far. (Best View Ever).
The pool was well maintained and you can have a dip in the pool whenever you want as it will not be crowded at any time.

Mr. Kumara was providing us with great service through out the stay and he is truly keeping the place alive with his smile and focused efforts.

Mr. Prasad was checking our preference before every meal and he never failed to amuse us with he great cooking skills and great cuisines.

We finally realized that, this is the best place for a get away and not those main stream big hotels where you are always in a queue no matter how much you pay for the stay.

We will definitely visit this place again in the future.

Mistakenly Found and Turned out to be the best getaway experience

The house, the location and the staff is absolutely amazing! The house is at the beach with a great garden and a big pool (our daughter couldn't get enough). The ocean is just a couple of steps away; you can hear the waves on the patio, the pool or as soothing sound when going to bed. The staff is absolutely amazing! Kumare took great care of all our questions and activities. Kumare organized great trips to the temples in the surroundings but also found us great guides for our safari trips (Yala and Udawalawe). He was always super friendly, availabe for help, great suggestions for activities and great conversations. Ever morning Prasad made us fantastic breakfasts (true Sri Lanka breakfast for us and a continental breakfast for our daughter). The dinners Prasad made are truly outstanding; very tasty and spicy curries, fresh lobsters and great desserts. Prasad is a 5-star chef.
The staff is super friendly and caring; it really felt like home! Definitely advice anyone to stay at the Tanna Beach Villa and its fantastic staff. Friends for life!
