Having been to SL about 7 or 8 times, we have traveled all over the country staying in bungalows in the NP’s & various levels of accommodation up to 5 star hotels. But the Lagoon House has upped that experience and is by far the best accommodation we have stayed in. A boutique residence, it is the perfect place for anyone looking for an idyllic place where you can sit back, relax and enjoy the fabulous views over the lagoon.
Be sure to take your camera as the lovely garden has an abundance of wildlife with mongoose, monitor lizards, giant squirrels & hundreds of birds visiting on a daily basis.
My favourite place was in and around the infinity pool which overlooks the lagoon and the stunning sunsets.
We had fabulous meals both western & authenic Sri Lankan cuisine with fish delivered fresh every day from the days catch!
We can't rave enough about this place but read the other reviews, they don’t lie & tell the story better than us 😊. 
Just make sure you stay for as long as you can because this place is special and you won't want to leave - and there is so much else to enjoy in the area as well....if you can tear yourself away.

Simply the best!

Excellent location and beautifully renovated. Awasome food ! Peaceful place to relax with warm hospitality extended to by the staff.
We will return soon to spend a couple of nights perhaps over a long weekend.

One day visit

We only stayed here for one night which wasn't long enough! The place is so tranquil with lovely gardens and views out to the lagoon. There are some wonderful outside seating areas. The room is homely and comfortable, the best bed we've slept in here. There is an outside bathroom which was cool. The owner was absolutely wonderful. The property is her holiday home and it felt really homely and cosy. She welcomed us in and made it a lovely stay. They made the best prawns we've ever had. The dinner was amazing! We also had an amazing breakfast: fruit platter, bacon + eggs, mini rottis, lots of jams/spreads, lovely passion fruit juice and v v good coffee. We ate by the pool which was so perfect. The owner organised the trip to the beach to see the turtles come ashore to lay their eggs- that was really good too. I would definitely stay here again. I'd ignore the negative comment below about the pictures not matching the house, it's actually way better than the pictures! 

Lovely setting, great food, wonderful room

Having lived in Sri Lanka over 10 years ago, I recently came back for a visit with friends for a trip down memory lane. While some of the hot spots along the south coast have become a lot busier since I was last here, Rekawa is a peaceful paradise - quiet beaches, lots of bird life, and stunning scenery. Some of the best sunsets I've ever seen, right from the garden of Lagoon House (-:

Lagoon House is the perfect base to soak up the peace and quiet - a real home away from home with wonderful hosts, some of the most delicious food I've ever eaten (try the tuna with sesame and wasabi coating...), and a lovely shaded swimming pool to escape the hot sun of the day. I couldn't have hoped for more!

Peace and tranquility with incredible food - who could ask for more?!

Rekawa Lagoon House is possibly the best place I have ever stayed at. It is a haven of peace and tranquility, situated on the edge of a lagoon which is a nature reserve.

Meals are simply superb. Ravi the chef produces top restaurant quality meals day after day. And the ever helpful Prakash serves them at tables set outside beside the pool looking out towards the lake.

The 15 metre infinity pool is a delight. It’s shaded by a number of trees which allow dappled sunlight and provide a home for plenty of birds (we really enjoyed watching the asian paradise flycatcher continually drop from a low branch into the pool for a dip/drink). And it reflects some amazing sunsets from across the lagoon.

Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The house - and indeed the whole property - is beautifully designed and the details of the design touches provide constant delights.

Garden is great for bird watching (over 50 species, including golden orioles, paradise flycatchers, brahminy kites …)

Convenient for boat trips on the lagoon; visiting the nearby Turtle conservation project; and trips to Bundala and Udawalawe National Parks for great safari trips.  

Ranmali was an excellent hostess. Very chatty and friendly. Always keen to ensure that her guests had the best time possible for them.

My wife and I stayed for a week and agreed that overall we had a truly wonderful and memorable holiday experience.

what a superb place for a relaxing holiday with great food and service !

This was simply the best place we stayed in the whole of Sri Lanka. Beautiful, quiet and comfortable location. And we were looked after soo well by all of the staff. The food was also amongst the best we had in Sri Lanka. This time was only for 2 nights but wish it could have been a lot longer. So many beautiful beaches to explore, some of which easily reached on the bicycles provided. Surrounded by local wildlife and Rekawa turtle conservation is within walking distance. The sunsets over the lagoon were breathtaking also.
