Me and my partner stayed in Queens rest for 2 nights. Manoj and his family could have not been more accommodating if they tried! They were fantastic hosts, both breakfast and dinner was delicious every day, Sri Lanka Pineapple Cocktails were also wonderful. The treehouses were very well sized and surrounded by beautiful Sri Lankan flora and fauna with fresh fruit grown on site and lots of friendly critters - a wonderful jungle experience! Lions Rock and Pidurangala are both in walking distance - Manoj even drove us to Pidurangala at 5am so we could do the sunrise hike (highly recommend) free of charge. They also provided us with transport so we could go and see the Dambulla Cave Temples (also recommend) and visit local shops and spice garden. We truly loved our stay here and would visit again

Fantastic Tree House Stay!

Food 10/10 Family 10/10  Elephant safari 8/10     The owner will drive you to the rock climb at 5 am so you dont walk the 2 klms in the dark [wild elephants ]

Great chillout place and close to the 2 big rocks

I loved my stay here- it was ideally located to hike Pidurangala rock (with a great view of Lions Rock) and the family were very friendly and extremely accommodating. We had home cooked food for dinner and breakfast with huge portions, and it was some of the most delicious food I had in Sri Lanka! It was an amazing experience staying in a treehouse and felt really immersed in nature. The family also have a tuc tuc with great rates and they drove us to Dambulla temples the next day, and waited for us to finish with our belongings so he could drop us in the main town to get a bus to Kandy! Such wonderful and helpful people and a bargain price. Can’t recommend enough.

Fantastic stay!

Family business with people working hard to please you. It is in a jungle so you will have to share the tree with squirrel, peacock and birds. There is a lot to do in Sigiriya. Don't stay only one night. Plus, if you want to try real nice Sri Lankan food and learn how to make it, go in the Kitchen and help prepare it while drinking a tea. The salty breakfast with caramelized onions, peas, rotti and coconut was too good.

Best mama food...

My girlfriend and I came to Queens Rest for 2 nights earlier this week and we really enjoyed our time. Our hosts were welcoming, caring, polite and attentive. Couldn’t ask for more. After Sri Lanka’s troubles last year, their tourism really took a hit and these good folk have had to endure a really quiet period as a result - but they really deserve your visit. Here’s why... 

I’d imagine that if you’re looking at these reviews, you’re open to the idea of a treehouse stay. These treehouses are stupidly good value, quirky, clean and comfortable. Hot shower, mosquito nets, pillows, towells, plenty of multi region plug sockets. Sure, it’s not the Ritz, but what it lacks in ritziness it makes up for in fun and adventure. 

Our main host, a young man from the family who run it, gave us freshly made juice on arrival, a choice of available rooms, carried our bags up to our treehouse and was chatty and friendly. 

His mother made fantastic food for us, delicious breakfasts and vegetarian meals (though they do serve meat if you eat meat). She too was warm and friendly. She even made us a packed breakfast for us to take with us when we left very early on our last morning. 

Other members of their team swept the whole resort each morning, helped us quickly when we locked our door key in our room and shuttled people to and from the local town (which we didn’t need). 

There’s a relaxing central area with hammocks, WiFi and fun wildlife, such as small iguana type lizards, butterflies and monkeys, as well a friendly dog. The whole place was super quiet and peaceful, whilst still feeling wild and adventurous. 

It’s well placed for visiting Sigiriya which was the reason we chose to stay there in the first place. I proposed to my girlfriend up on Sigiriya and our hosts were very pleased and excited when we came back and told them that she’d said yes. 

I really can’t recommend Queens Rest enough, either for those on a tight budget or those who want to feel like they’re sleeping in the jungle. A thoroughly enjoyable trip.

Perfect treehouse experience. Full marks.

Parents Nihal and Ranjani, and son Manoj endeavour to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, and they succeed with flying colours. The quiet environment with only the calls of the wild peacocks to break the stillness gives you a chance to recharge your inner self as well as being in close proximity to Auyvedic massages, Sigiria and Elephant rocks. Nihal uses his tuk tuk to ferry you around where you need to go within a 20km radius. Ranjani cooks the mist delicious food for breakfast and Dinner. It was a sheer delight to chat with other guests of an evening at our tables during dinner. Accommodation for sleeping is basic with a bedroom and bathroom in each treehouse. It gets very hot in your little home during the day but most people are out and about at this time. Night time is idyllic for sleeping with cool breezes fanning you if you leave your windows open. Amazingly we were not troubled by any insects while doing this. I am a fan and will be back.

In touch with Nature

Staying in one of the treehouses is an amazing experience. Waking up to nature's sounds and doing so well rested: even though these huts are without aircon they're extremely comfortable. Good place to chill (on the balcony, hammock or garden) and, just as important, to eat! The family cooks a mean curry. Dinner and breakfast are very varied and made with love. Last but not least, the family is very helpful and will do their best to make your stay a good one. Highly recommended!

Chilled out experience a must visit!

Great experience if you not afraid of frogs or Insects in your room. ;)
The host has his own tuktuk and offers you to drive you everywhere. The prices from the owner for a tuktuk ride are ok. 
The WiFi was not really working!


Great experience 

We were satisfied with our one night stay there. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Loved the organic products for breakfast and dinner. 
Very nice views and lovely garden. 
We got a good worth of our money. 

Very nice hotel and lovely family running it

We do not like to give poor reviews but must do so based on our experience. 

Positives:
- nice treehouse and bathroom
- good Sri Lankan Breakfast and welcome drink which were included
- the treehouse we had, had a nice view of sigiriya rock
- the owners wife was very nice 

Negatives
- the curry dinner we had was relatively costly (800 LKR per person)
- we were offered an elephant safari by the owner for $100 USD. We were also offered an elephant safari by an agent in the town for half the price at $50 USD. We had discussed with the owner that we wanted to do a bit more research on the internet before deciding which elephant safari to go on. At this point he walked away and shortly after the wifi was no longer available. (We were the only guests at the time). We were very shocked at this and it left a sour taste for the remainder of our time at the guesthouse. 

We can't recommend this place based on our experience.
