Rooms with private bathroom at a very cheap price, 30 seconds from the beach, walking distance and 10 minutes from the bus and train station.The location is very good and the area is super quiet and quiet for sleeping well.There is no wifi.If you are a very cozy person or you like things absolutely clean, I do not recommend it, but if you are looking for something simple and economical...this is your place!

Very quiet and well situated.

Raja is a very symapthic man, which made it nice to sleep at his place. The double room had a mosquito net and 2 fans, which was nice. Also the shower was a good one. The prices are very cheap here (one of the cheapest in town), so the rooms are quite basic. The matress is very thin, but that is also the case for other hotels in town. Unfortunately, the bathroom was quite dirty.

Good value for money

It was really amazing stay in Raja's guest house. Mr. Raja is really friendly and good person. The place is close to the beach and value for the money. Not the best room but good value for money. The overall vibe of the house is really amazing. You may Mr. Raja is singing songs whole evening with all the guests.

Great Experience

I booked a room at the booking house. I bought a nice price and good reviews. What a surprise it was when the room I booked turned out to be absolutely not the same as the photo... dirty, not even the bedding, no windows (glass) and a huge hole in the ceiling from which a giant web was hanging😱. The first 30 seconds I consoled myself with the thought that we were only going to sleep here for four nights, but there was no limit to our happiness when in the eyes of my wife she read the same horror and we said in one voice, Let's go look for something else.

A dirty place without windows.

We stayed at Raja's house for 3 nights, we had chosen this place for the price and the reviews regarding his cuisine and hospitality. Unfortunately we were a little disappointed, Raja practically never asked, so much so that to pay we had to go to the guest house 3 times to find him, practically no longer cook for the guests. In the reservation for 3 dollars more we could have breakfast in the day we asked him if the next day we could have breakfast there and he said no. We had reserved a double room with a specific double bed/marriage but when we arrived we found a double room with 2 single beds and no explanation from them.

Disappointing atmosphere

One of the best places I've ever stayed. Raja and his staff are so kind and will look after you extremely well. Great food, staff, clean and one super close to the beach. Can't wait to go back and hang out.

Sri Lankan hospitality at its finest..

That is the best guesthouse in my live! At least at this moment) Raja and Thilina thank you very much for your hospitality! Me and my friend spent a week in this guesthouse and we had everything - nice room, delicious food and great company. We were like a family, coz Raja served one table for all holidaymakers.  

Fantastic trip to Sri Lanka

Very good value for price. Mr. Raja and the staff are very friendly and make a big effort to make your stay as pleasant as possible. The vibe in the place is really nice, every night people sit together at the table, and so it's a good place to meet new people.

Very good value for price and awesome and kind staff

My first visit to Raja was in 1994 when it was the first guest house in the city. Today I went back with my family. It was a pleasure to find Raja always so welcoming and helpful in listening to his guests in simplicity. His cuisine is delicious and everything is super fresh because he himself goes to look for the products asking us what we want to eat in the evening and all in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. His rooms are of an unparalleled price ratio like his menus. His location is very well located in a street away from the noise and very close to the beach. I certainly will not be returning for 23 years to Raja.

It's fabulous.

The owner was very affectionate, always attentive and prepared for what we might need, and also took care of our bags for a few days while we took a motorcycle getaway, a large hangout near a surf spot and the bus station.
