This place was a highlight of ours. We were peacefully happy with nothing to do but observe and read. I loved it. Lakshma was a kind, thoughtful host and Sachin was an excellent chef - the flavours of each dish were different but equally as tasty as each other. I’d love to stay here again.

A tranquil and happy stay

We stayed in a tree house and had the most amazing experience of waking of up with nature. A super cool experience if you like nature and or are travelling with children. The tree houses are spacious and have nets to keep the monkeys out, mosquito nets over the beds and a safe to keep valuables locked away, but the whole are feels safe and well looked after. When you enter the gates you feel a little like you re entering Jurassic Park, it's brilliant. Lovely reception and restaurant area too! Definitely visit the Kataragama Temple complex whilst there, especially if you are lucky enough to be there for a full moon puja, one of our most favourite Sri Lankan experiences. LOVELY staff and owner, wish them all the best with this business!

As of the political situation of Sri Lanka at the moment, we highly recommend that you ignore this and travel anyway! We travelled around for two weeks mid protests and petrol crisis and our trip was not in any way disrupted nor did we feel unsafe at any point in time. The protests are mainly near government buildings and are visited by families with kids, monks and students alike and does not target tourists who contribute so greatly to the Sri Lankan economy. Now more than ever, the Sri Lankan people needs us to visit so they can recover after the pandemic. Go and enjoy one of the most beautiful islands in the world which has so much to offer in terms of nature, culture, history, religious sites, smiley people and great food!

A super cool experience, waking up with the sounds of nature!

I spend one night there and they really ran out of luck, with a couple of power cuts (happened throughout my stay on the island..) and the cook hit by a car on his way to work! Still, it was a magical experience, it makes you realize and feel the scope of human impact on the environment... I was awaken by monks singing.... Despite the problems, the staff was very dependable, very helpful and the owner himself got involved to offset the impact of the issues. A night there between two great safaris in UdaWalawe and Yala.... Just perfect! Thank you.

A wonderful and spiritual experience despite difficult conditions!

We had magical night in the treehouse, so peacefull and close to the nature. Almost 500years tree growing on the property is like from another planet, so amazing! The Staff was so kind and they warmly welcomed us, doing everything to make us feel comfortable and happy. Dear Beddegama Staff, your mission is fully completed. Thank you for everything.

Amazing place!

This was a one of a kind experience! Staying in the treehouse listening to the sounds of the jungle was incredible. Mr D (the owner) was extremely welcoming, as well as the other staff. Did everything to satisfy our needs. There’s no wifi in the rooms, only on reception but that’s added to the experience. Definitely would recommend to others!

Amazing !!!

Reaching the hotel is now very easy with the highway. We had a warm welcome and the staff was very nice and polite they did all the covid-19 prevention measures. Tree Rooms were specious. 
The place is very clean. We had an amazing experience sleeping on the tree houses.
The food was fabulous. Both breakfast and lunch had a great variety and dinner they organize a  wonderful barbeque. It's awesome to stay with kids. One of the best Eco hotels in Tissamaharama., highly recommended. Special thanks go to Director Mr. Gunawardena, who helped us a lot throughout our stay.

Best Eco Experience

We showed up at the hotel at about 7:30 pm and all the gates were locked and the hotel looked closed. After calling we were told we did not have a booking, after 30 mins at the gate they found our reservation. We were then told we would have to wait in the reception for 30 mins while they get the room ready. We would be the only guests, the hotel was in the middle of nowhere and they had no food to serve and we would have to wait till 9:30 for any food to be served. 

The staff there did try to rectify the situation but late at night in the pitch black after waiting for a long time we made another reservation and left. Since this was booked through Expedia we did get a full refund from them. 



Closed and no booking found 

This place is a dream!  The best accommodation we got in Sri Lanka! You get to sleep in a proper, real tree house in the jungle! Our tree house had two levels, with a seating area and bathroom with a toilet and great shower, and a second level with a good comfy bed protected with a net. It's an amazing experience and we slept very well at night not being disturbed by any noises or insects, just keep your net well attached to your bed! 
Also the staff is great, the man who is the manager is a very friendly and interesting person to chat to, he cooked us the best dinner we had in Sri Lanka and a great breakfast the morning after, he also was nice enough to pack the leftovers of our breakfast for us to have it later, because we didn't want to leave it behind as it was so good! 
If you go to Yala you have to definitely stay here!

Superb! Once in a lifetime experience!

Staying in a treehouse here was one of the highlights of our 3 week adventure around the country. The treehouse (ours was double story) was a magnificent place to just stop and hang out in with a beer or two. Watch the peacocks, exotic birds and squirrels during the day, and enjoy your own resident bats and fireflies at night. It was very comfortable to sleep in with no wind coming through and no swaying, as the tree was very strong. This was only bathroom that I have ever used that has decent lighting to look in the mirror (the mirror was almost outside in a tree fork)!!!

Natural, basic, rustic and fantastic!

Wow! What an amazing place. You can read about the treehouse from other reviews; it’s an amazing experience and once-in-a-lifetime. We also thought the manager was really lovely. He was really dedicated to us and was very kind. The breakfast is good. We didn’t eat dinner because it’s US$10, which is a lot by local standards (and we’ve been travelling for a few weeks now and have become used to local prices!). But if breakfast is anything to go by, I’m sure the dinner would be good.
