Me and my girlfriend had the best of times here. 

I highly recommend staying here if you visit Kiruna. 

We stayed for three nights, two in their super comfy Aurora Yurt and one night in their wilderness cabin. 

We had a snowmobile trip to the cabin and had the luxury to be out there all by ourselves and use the sauna in the middle of nowhere. 

We also got try driving our own sleddog team which was super fun. 

As it happened they also had two puppy litters which we got to cuddle with everyday!

All in all a great stay and well entertained by super friendly tour guides Jos and Lou!

Super stay!

We stayed for two nights in the husky lodge and had a fantastic time. The lodge was really comfortable and cosy. The shared kitchen was great and had everything you would need to prepare a meal. The shared bathroom was nice and clean. We really enjoyed the breakfast provided and thought it was better than most of the other hotel breakfasts we've experienced in Sweden. We also booked in to use the sauna (note it is an additional cost but it was reasonable), this was a lovely experience, especially after just being out on one of the dog sled tours! 
The best part of our stay was interacting with the dogs and puppies and talking to the people who work here, we learned so much about dog sledding and huskies. I would really recommend staying here, especially if you love dogs!

Fantastic place to stay

We stayed one night with two dogs. Got a nice big room. Shared bathroom, so keep that in mind if you don’t like that. It was nice and clean though :) 

We also got to say hello to the puppies. So cute. Staff was friendly. Nice breakfast. Nothing to complain about.

Great stay - dog friendly

This experience exceeded our expectations! We had such a memorable time, we were very comfortable in the lodge (so warm!), loved the interaction with the dogs with their cute personalities, and enjoyed the food immensely! I wish we could stay longer, but since we cannot, we will carry these memories with us forever. Every little detail was considered, from tea in the kitchen, to beautifully finished interior of the lodge, to candles at night to give the lodge lighting (without the need for the electricity). Thank you, Husky Lodge, for making our first impression of Kiruna so enjoyable!!!

Our favorite stay in Kiruna!

Extremely hospitable and smiley hosts, big thanks to all of them, particularly Lucas! There were 4 of us friends traveling together.

Lucas came and picked us up from Camp Ripan for our snowmobile tour on one of the days. Once we finished the tour and went to get some snacks at the fireplace, one of us realized she had dropped her mobile phone in the snow in the midst of the snowmobile trip. The chances of finding a mobile phone in the snow out in the huge area is practically close to 0%. Lucas had kindly agreed to head out in the cold to help search for it, at the vicinity where we took a break and switched over.
Surprise surprise! He actually did retrieve the mobile phone out in the cold.. In the dark . Thank you for going the extra mile, we are extremely grateful!

The next day we had our dog sledding activity, and stayed over at the Husky Lodge. It felt homely and well equipped with all the basic necessities. Dog sledding with Lucas being our guide was... REALLY FUN! He was informative, answered to whatever questions we had about the huskies and Kiruna. And some of us even had the chance to "drive" the sled alongside him! We also got the chance to play with one of the huskies, Demi, a cute little puppy! Lucas had whipped up dinner for us too, a common Swedish dish (i think), salmon soup! Very tasty, and I would have gone for seconds if I wasn't too full haha.

All of us slept well over the night. Got up in the morning and checked out but we got the chance to play with the huskies before we left! The people working there are more than happy to let us pat them, and explored the Husky Lodge.

Thank you for making our trip a fruitful one! We truly enjoyed ourselves, and we are still raving about this place to our colleagues and friends back at home. Highly recommend!! :)

Highlight of the entire trip!

The hosts, Brenda and Lucas were very hospitable, friendly and accommodating. The location is nice, right on the outskirts of town, not too far off but far enough that you'd experience peace and quiet (and clear night skies away from light pollution). Furthermore, if you're lucky, you get to see an international-class dog sled team in action. You can have a stroll among the dog kennels with Brenda and play with the puppies who were overly excited and friendly to see new people! All in all, a fantastic b&b option if you're looking for a place to stay.

Excellent place to stay in Kiruna

Wow... just wow. Almost 100 of the most beautiful, strongest and happiest huskies you could ever meet. Miles and miles of breathtaking landscapes around lovely town Kiruna. And of course, Brenda and Lucas being the best hosts you could wish for! 

We had cosy rooms, great food and more fun than I thought a week could hold. Visit this place and have the unique husky experience!!

One of the best holidays of my life!

Really enjoyed the atmosphere in the main lodge. Breakfast was good, and it was nice to chat with the other guests at the shared table.

Downside, the Aurora dome we stayed in wasn't sufficiently heated by the stoves, meaning we couldn't really stay in there unless wrapped up in the sleeping bags. Was thankful for my thermal layer at night.

Toilet block never seemed to be open, so we shared the one in the main lodge with all the guests there.

Steps up the the lodge were lethal. It seemed like clearing the bulk of the snow had just made them worse, a different flooring material is needed.

Spending time with the dogs was great. We had booked a half day learn to drive the dogs ourselves.  The trip was great, although shorter than we expected. At the end, we had an early lunch and visited with the puppies.

Cold dome, but nice dog experience 

Good things first- there was a lot we enjoyed about our stay here. Staying in a place surrounded by huskies (more than 90!) was amazing and the dogs were so cute, even their howling was very cute- it even woke me up but they didn't do it for long. The room was decent, large and comfortable and the breakfast was hearty and tasty. The other guests were generally nice and friendly- we had some really good conversations. I've never stayed like a place quite like it and it felt magical in the snow.

Less good things- my main assessment is that before we booked I thought this was a place to stay with a focus on the guests, which also did some doors. From early on in our stay and throughout, I realised that it is a place that does tours, with a focus on the tours and the guests staying there seem like an afterthought. Some examples:

- We stayed for four nights. During that time I never once saw a member of staff behind the reception desk at the front of our building (we passed the desk frequently). I'm not expecting someone to be there all the time, but perhaps sometimes would be nice. At the very least it would be good if there was a simple way for guests to contact staff- perhaps staff could come by at a couple of regular times a day for example. The suggested way to contact staff was to phone- but neither we nor many of the guests stayed had Swedish mobiles, so it was prohibitively expensive. There was no one to check us in for example- we ended up randomly asking a guy who we thought might be staff- he told us it wasn't really his job but he'd do it. He didn't really have time to explain much to us.

- It isn't easy even to work out which staff you can ask for help as they generally seem very busy, many of them busy with tours. For example there was one member of staff who was in the building we were staying for a bit as she was taking two guests on a trip. We asked her if she could light a fire as the main room was cold. She said she would and promptly forgot.

- Some things aren't optimal from a privacy or security perspective. For example the toilet and kitchen in our building was also used by people not staying in our building, people on tours etc. There was no way of telling who was who.

- With the toilet the additional problem was that there is one toilet between four rooms (so potentially 8 people I suppose). As the shower is also in the toilet, other guests use the toilet and the staff and guests use the room for laundry as well, there were times when this situation wasn't optimal!

- Another slight issue is the distance of the place from town- it is about 20 minutes walk to the train station and a further 20 or so to the start of the centre. This wouldn't be a problem with a car and some guests had one. However, as the nearest supermarket is also about 40 minutes away and there is nowhere to buy food onsite, it is certainly something to consider. We just ended up walking into town a few times and it was a nice adventure- other people got a taxi/drove themselves etc- but again, without staff regularly around it wasn't the easiest to work out the best options.

- The thing that annoyed me by far the most about our stay was that before we came we asked if we needed to book the tours before arrival or if we could book when we arrived. We were told we could book when we arrived. This seemed best as I had imagined that the staff would be on hand to take us through all the options. Trips include things like going out on a sled with dogs and trying to see the Northern Lights- things that for many people would be the whole point of their trip. Anyway when we arrived and had a brief chat with the person who 'checked us in' in a rush, he told us to book online. When we went to book online, the things we wanted to do were already booked up! We ended up doing activities with other companies instead, which was a bit weird as literally from our window we could regularly see the dogs being prepared for trips etc. If it hasn't been for the fact that we acted swiftly to secure other trips, this aspect could have been totally ruined for us. I think it bizarre that there are no reserved places for guests or suggestion to guests that they pre-book.

- Finally, a good example of how the system doesn't work very well is this. Some guests we bumped into asked to see the puppies and got to see them. We had seen a sign by the front desk basically saying that if you want to see the puppies then ask the staff. We sent a message to the main guy to try to arrange it. He initially responded positivity, then we never heard from him again. We asked another staff member about it. She basically told us that everyone was busy and we shouldn't have been told that we could see them. When we explained that the owner (the main guy we had emailed) had said we could, she changed her tune and finally we managed to get it arranged.

There are enough special things about this place that I don't think our mixed experience should put you off booking, but go with open eyes and make sure you book anything you want to do before you arrive!

Had a lovely time, but this place definitely has some faults

Ok place, Nice with fridge and kitchen, got to meet the puppys. Heard that they pick you up if needed. Good place to get contact with other travelers with though of the common breakfast On the downside, the toilet, when you sit and do your business there is another door that staff go to get their washing, with just a smäll curtain in between. Only one toilet, lucky for us we came when it wasnt fully booked. The room is basic with two beds and a draw that was locked. They could have more info about things to do nearby aswell as little schedule of their Daily routines that guests are Wellcome to Join, it was Only because my dad spoke to the owner we got to meet the puppies in the pen. No tv, but that was kinda Nice to connect to the enviroment. Wifi worked so so, not the best. Nice place and location though, close to the city but still out in nowhere. A bit bumpy gravelroad to the lodge so drive slowly. Overall, if you love huskeys and meeting New people this is the place to stay, but wasnt a wowfactor for us
