We had a day to spare  and decided to just adventure drive along the west coast,  followed a Morgan classic car rally.and ended up at Bjornholmen for lunch - and what a treat it was: beautiful location, classy hotel + restaurant.  The staff were fantastic, the menu was relatively short but with a good selection,  food was excellent.

Highly recommended

Booked an overnigth package with Sauna theme. However, one day prior to arrival we received a message that they got the clever idea to book the main attraction (the spectacular sauna) exclusively for a larger group. It probably generated more money in that very instant and we were left with a "sorry". Following the poor options presented to us, we cancelled our booking (along with all other arrangements). They do not seem to bother much. So without even visting the place they receive the lowest possible grade along with a BIG WARNING for private arrangements.    

Do not honour private bookings!

Wonderful hotel and lovely, amazing staff.  Shout out to Beatrice who greeted us with a warm smile at every moment and superb recommendations..  this is a little piece of heaven.  NOTE: for those Americans traveling "spa" means Diana and hot tub.  They do not offer treatments on site but they are happy to arrange..  also,  the food is wonderful!!!

A little piece of heaven at the end of the earth

A gem on the West Coast. Excellent for a weekend get away from the city. Atmosphere, the wingspan of history, food, room, bed, woodheated sauna right by the sea - everything was superb. 
The big outdoor seating area  by the restaurant right by the sea is marvellous for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Since the area has a limited amount of houses, it feels intimate an exclusive.
Do not miss Pilane, if you are here in summer.

A somewhat secret gem on the West Coast

Amazing food and a fantastic atmosphere with stunning nature around! Clean, cosy room with a Nordic feel. We also used the sauna and took a swim the cold sea. One of the best hotel breakfasts we have had.

Fantastic stay!

An absolute delight located in an idyllic place on the westcoast were the rough cliffs meets the sea. The small boat harbour is beatiful to watch while dining on the outside terrace. The food in the restaurant was delicious. Swedish and tradtional but with a modern touch and some cool food trends incorporated. 
The rooms are modern, spacious and warm and well above standard compared to similair places by the coast. 
Enjoy your stay here as we did!

Great experience on the idyllic westcoast

We had a wonderful lunch sitting with beatiful sea view. The fish was very nicely presented and tasted very well. We couldn't resist to have the truffle as dessert. It was delicious and plentyfull served and completed a wonderful lunch.

Lunch by the sea ...

Clean and basic, but heavily overpriced. Feels between a hostel and a hospital, definitely not worth the amount we paid. Even smells a bit like a hospital. Nothing extra, not even a glass in a bathroom. No extra towels , very small sink, feeling a lot like a student accommodation, except it is priced like a 5 star hotel. 

Feels like a hostel, except outrageously expensive

My sister and me stayed for one night at this nice hotel - the location is good, right out to the sea and we had a very nice view. We also ate dinner at the restaurant which was really good. 
BUT: while we were there, there was a larger group holding some kind of bachelor (?) party - they permanently occupied the hot pool as well as the sauna and were drinking beer from the early afternoon - not very relaxing to be around! They were partying the whole afternoon and evening, resulting in that the sauna and hot pool were dirty, full of bottles and smelling of beer the next morning when we wanted to use the facilities before breakfast. The door to the sauna was also open and the sauna hence cold. Okay, this can happen - but I do expect the staff to take action. When we notified them about this, the only comment we got was that the areas would be cleaned later that morning. No excuse, no compensation. I really expected more service from a hotel that is not exactly cheap.

Nice hotel but no service

When you drive north of Gothenburg drives towards the outer island - end up at Björholmen.
This is the place of a smal but wonderful hotel.
It's not lavish room or luxery that drives this place, but the fact that you are in a fantastic place where nature and people connect.
Michael and Ben runs the hotel and they are the reason for this being a real gem.
