I was greeted by Sara and her charming husband and children quite by chance on the little ferry to the island. From that moment on, they made me feel exceptionally welcome and took care of everything I needed. Their genuine warmth and hospitality was truly magical. The room was very clean, peaceful and had everything I needed. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choice and served in a beautiful and cosy dining room. You can see the sea from most windows and it’s only a one minute walk away. Come and visit!

The kindest people in the most beautiful place!

Hotel run by 2 nice ladies who leverage the strong attractiveness of Mastrand offer at 200 euros a night small rooms in fact very small ones made in an old house near the sea. all of them are obviously noisy and you can hear everything from the other rooms, bathroom so small to stay open. we don't talk about TV obviously a stamp exclusive to Scandinavian tourists. luckily the breakfast room and breakfast are cute even though for the sweet part here in Sweden they don't know that croissants are frozen. the only thing they don't care about are your documents but the credit card. the little rooms at 2 and 3 are reached with a minuscule and very steep scale service. they don't even give a floor to the bathroom.

This hotel is really lovely! An old building with stairs here and there. Great location a few minutes walk from the ferry. Several restaurants nearby. Only a short walk from the castle. We were lucky to get a nice ( but quite small) room with seaview on the 2.nd floor. A nice breakfast is included, outdoor seating in the garden if weather permitted, otherwise it can get a little crowded. We visited several places on the swedish westcoast so we know accomodation is pricy, this place was the only one we found price worthy!

Lovely and charming

A charming old hotel on a stunning island but I would not stay here again. Our room had a giant beam running across half of it so my husband had to hang onto the beam and swing around it to get into bed. The room was so stuffy I didn’t think we’d be able to sleep, and that was with the window open the few inches it went. A tiny bathroom but that’s to be expected and the water pressure was great. 

The staff wasn’t very friendly and rarely seen except at breakfast. Breakfast is fine. We paid more here than we did for fancier hotels in the cities.

Be sure to request a room without a beam dissecting it

Old rooms, a tiny TV, Wi-Fi, nothing to buy at the hotel (drinks, beer, softdrinks etc). The breakfast, included, was average. Cosy hotel, but I expect much more for SEK 1250 a night.
If it is your only possibility, take it, because Marstrand in nice weather is just perfect. Remember to take the walk around the island, south of the castle. Bring your bathing suit.

We arrived late in the evening and found our room key on the reception table with our name on against it - nice touch.  We did however need to be Sherlock holmes to find the rooms - as one wrong turn you are in the restaurant and then another stair case you are on the wrong side. We got there however. Although I hope we didnt disturb the whole hotel as we movd around late at night with luggage! 
There is no car parking on Marstrand - for first time visitors, you have to park on the mainland - theres also 2 types of car park 1 day and 2 day - both cost the same except the 1 day is closer to the ferry and yo can by credit card. this would have been really useful information the hotel could provide upon asking - instead they just replied there is no parking...

Okay so the location is brilliant but the old hotel is exactly that and not just a quaint hotel that you would expect. the walls are paper thin, so you can hear people snoring next to you and people getting out of bed at crack o dawn in the morning. not very relaxing. 
The room has a kettle/coffee making set, except you have to find a plug to put it into, we had to pull the plug out of the TV and rest the kettle on the window sill. go figure - oh and they give you one sachet of nescafe and one sachet of decaff - so we had to make do with only one coffee between us, the next day - they replaced the nescafe sachet with another decaf one - nice attention .....
Hey the water is hot and the antiquated shower works - although I would recommend a dip in the sea as its more fun! 
Its a very sociable hotel - as in you can hear all that is going on in the street. our friends heard a conversation from us as we were walking up the street. The dumpster cart is very efficient, apart fro the fact you dont want to jump out of bed in alarm as it comes round at 07.15 in the morning..

I think that it was overly expensive and didnt deliver for the price.

Marstrand is a stunningly beautiful island to visit, very popular with the Swedes and therefore very expensive to stay on. It cost us the same for the Nautic Hotel as we paid for 5 star luxury in Venice! but... that's the way it goes!!!

The hotel's location is spot on... very short walk from the main hub of the island so quieter than accommodation on that strip would be.  The outside area and conservatory dining room are all lovely and in very good repair.  Lots of flowers and a delight to sit in. Coffee/tea was available all day in the conservatory.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. 

Our twin room got changed to a VERY small double bed room! BUT we were glad it was changed, as in the roof we didn't have people above us...downside of an older property.. creaky floorboards all the time! There was no soundproofing between the rooms so it was luck if we had quiet neighbours or not.

The view was superb from our room... so much to see on the sea.

The room was tiny and tired and a bit dusty.. black tape around the bedside lampshade to fix it! Wardrobe was ok but no where to put undies, cardigans etc and only one small desk which was dominated by the beverage tray.. we had to move that as the lead didn't reach the socket below the desk!  

Shower was powerful, water always piping hot but wall tiles needed a good polish!

We thoroughly enjoyed the continental breakfast on offer.. cold cuts, assorted rolls, yoghurt, warm croissants/pain au chocolate/pain au raisin, small bowl of fresh fruit salad, boiled eggs the only hot item.

We had a fantastic stay on the island in glorious weather... walks all over the island are a delight to do and always something to watch out to sea.

The hotel and location is excellent.  Room was very clean.  Shower brilliant!  Problem was, we were on motorbikes, so ALL or luggage had to be carried over by ferry - my fault really...

But...  The biggest problem was food...  Monday night out of season and the only place we found to eat was the Grand Hotel.  Yes, the exchange rate is poor but £100 for (most excellent) fish, chips and one beer each?!  Tuesday night and we took the ferry over to another hotel.

All that was forgiven for the morning rush hour - one old lady on a squeaky bicycle.  

Would easily get a 4 if in season.  Even a 4 out of season, if we were pre-warned...

Avoid out of season

we had booked one room about 5 months prior to our arrival, as it is in demand during peak summer periods. though we had paid 50% less by booking in advance, the receptionist was kind enough to upgrade us to a larger room. Room was large for two of us. Bathroom was a bit small but we stayed for one night only so no problem.
Free breakfast is included. It was average breakfast, but one could eat well.
Location is on the island and the hotel is walking distance from the ferry terminal.
Public parking is available on the main land

Old building but clean

The hotel has only about 30 rooms, which are very cornered on different floors. It is relatively slender. Our living room was quite small, but with a great view of the sea. Friendly but dry service.
