Simply exceptional. Perfect location and views but hotel is professional, stylish, educational, superb food and great staff.

Design fits in sympathetically with location and my room had great view over the lake. Room has all the basic facilities required and is fitted out well.

And excellent value for money

If you are in the area then you must stay here 

A wonderful place with perfect Swedish «sparsmakad», tasteful, presentation. Naturum is next to Läckö Castle, which is in itself worth a visit. We spent a night, and were delighted by our room with a view of the lake. Very comfortable beds. 
Back for the restaurant soon, all organic. Our breakfast was a feast. Highly recommended.

"Naturum" is a series of "rural cottages" around Sweden with the purpose of being educative and inspiring for further awareness and knowledge of the local biotope, fauna and cultural environment. They are more or less initiated and financially supported by the Swedish nature authority "Naturvårdsverket".
Exhibitions and information distinguish the Naturums.

The Naturum in Vänerskärgården - named after Crown Princess Victoria - is the first one to also integrate guest accomodation. And a very high ambitioned restaurant.
And, being located at the doorstep of one of Sweden's most well preserved baroque castles - if not THE most preserved baroque castle, you can't get any closer for an overnight stay. Läckö slott (castle) is on the northest and farthest out point of the peninsula of Kållandsö. So if you want a thorough visit to the castle and its gardens and don't want to travel back to Lidköping - this is the place to stay.

All "Naturums" are designed to melt into the landscape and Vänerskärgården/Victoria is no exception. Designed by White Architects, Victoria integrates with the water and the surroundings with the help of undulating lines, wooden linings and low profile.
Inaugurated 2013 it is on the inside very modern and comfortable. The rooms are spread over the first floor and has every amenities you'd ask for (within the reason of the four star classification). It's not luxury, but very classy nevertheless.
Ground floor hosts the reception and the flexible space used both for exhibitions and "infotainment" as well as the quality restaurant "Hvita hjorten" (see my separate review).
We had a beautiful stay and slept very well in comfortable beds with the lake Vänern just outside our windows.

Staff in the reception is kind an attentive.

Breakfast was served by the restaurant "Hvita hjorten" and was on the whole quite good. Focus are on products from nearby producers and without having a lavish buffet, the meal was very good.

It's not cheap to stay at Naturum, but because it is such a special environment, well worth to experience. It is highly recommended!

Unique environment with comfortable class

Splendid view on the lake. Birdwactching possible from your bed :-)
Limited choice in the restaurant, although the served food was excellent.
Parking at distance, only disabled parking is nearby the hotel.

Perfect getaway for couples, at least in off season. The rooms and interior is very nice with photos of the Swedish wilderness in a modern but tranquil architecture. The food was great, especially the fish, on of the best fish based dishes ever. Baked leek with pike-perch quinell and ramson. Only flaw was that the sirloin steak was over done.
The menus are based on what's available from the nearby castle garden and local farms etc. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, which I really like. 

For day visits it's great also for kids with lots of things to do related to nature. 

Tranquil, beautiful place with excellent, organic local food 

This is an amazingly beautiful piece of Sweden. We lucked into an unseasonably warm May Day and it was gorgeous. We got up early (thanks, jet lag) to watch the sun rise over Lake Vanern at 4:30 am. Stunning. 

Food at the in-house restaurant is top-notch and of big city quality.

If you’re looking for a place with a lot to do/lot going on, this is not it. If you’re looking to unwind and relax, this is the place.

Wow, just wow.

If you want to see a castle or look at birds this might be something for you.
This is actually one of the ugliest buildings I have ever seen.
Some princess or something contributed to it which make it even worse.
But once you are inside you only see the beautiful surroundings with water, birds and boats and a pice of the real Sweden: Kållandsö in Västergötland.
Rooms are small and plain but good. 
There are no workspace (table and chair).
 There is no heating on the floor in the bathroom.
There is also a restaurant here: Den hvita hjorten.
Food goes from good to amazing and is kept by enthusiasts.
Everything that can be local, is local and some of it is really good.

Local and a bit charming

This cool-designed, pretty new hotel hosts in the basement the info desk for the nature of this region. The reception is als the desk for the information office. Cool combination of nature, hotel and restaurant. It is also just a short walk away from Läckö castle, with is worth a visit!
