There are a number of nice places to stay in and around Orsa but I would sum up Strandvillan as a true gem. The hotel is centrally located in Orsa and yet with its beautiful setting on "Lillån" something completely different.

Our hosts Carola and Håkan Carlsson are very easy to get on with and were more than willing to share ideas and give usable tips as to things to do in and around Orsa. Truly hospitable and helpful. Taking time out from running their hotel to engage with their guests without being intruding.

From Strandvillan it is only a short walk to the local shops and restaurants in this small "village". Beautiful walking paths run close-by which give a wonderful view of "Lillån".

A very relaxing 3-night stay.

A true gem

A small hotel with excellent service, honest smiles and a fantastic view over a small river (or something like it) from my window. The hotel also offers a bicycle, by which it is easy to move around. The camping nearby is getting crowded, though still in May. Nature is appealing. I am just sorry I could not stay a bit longer.

River view

Stayed one night on the road from west-coast Norway to Stockholm following the "Kopparleden" road from Drevsjø through Falun. The hotel is a 10 minutes detour from the route and is a charming lodging.

This quiet little hotel is in a great location, just a couple-minute walk to downtown Orsa, where there are restaurants and a grocery store. Our room was small and basic, but comfortable and well kept. Breakfast spread was good. Owner and staff were friendly and helpful. 

Pleasant little hotel

My family and I rented two rooms in June 2015 for three nights at Hotel Strandvillan.. What a lovely experience!  We enjoyed the free wifi as well as the river view and the owners were so nice and accommodating !  Coming from the USA and visiting family it was nice to stay in such a friendly hotel..  The beds were extra comfortable and we loved everything including the bikes they had at the time in which we rode down to the lake and the cute rowboat.. 

We looked at other hotels in the area when we were there for the four days.. Nothing as charming as Hotel Strandvillan.. Peter and his family took great care of us- We hope to return in the future !

Lovely B&B !!!

This small family-style hotel is very easy to get to, it sits at the bottom of a dead end and its rear face overlooks a garden by the river. The reception was very warm. The room I was assigned was luxurious, decorated with taste and exemplary cleanliness. After spending a good night thanks to an excellent bedding, a generous breakfast awaited me the next morning. I recommend this hotel, don't hesitate to take a few detours, many higher-priced hotel chains should take the example, it's an excellent quality/price ratio. It's really one of the heartbeats I had on the trip that led me to Cap North.

Very pleasant.

I'm sure we were in this b&b with a trip organized on the occasion of the Vasaloppet. Cmq we found ourselves very well together! The owner was very kind and generous and the room, although not huge, was clean and cozy. The breakfast was really plentiful and there were both sweet and salty things. Overall judgement more than positive!

Vasaloppet 2014

This litle hotell I guess is a former one family house. Located by the river of Orsa, it's a little bit out of the mainstream. The hotell offers free Wi-Fi and every room have a coffeemaker and TV. The hotell also have a nice sauna and you can take a bath in the river if you like.
The hotell staff is very serviceminded and realy nice people.
The breakfast room is located with a view over the nice river and I sugest you take a walk down by the river if you have some spare time, it's realy nice there.
I've been there 4 times, and stayd in room 5, 10 and 11, all singel rooms. Room 11 is largest and room 5 smallest. Room 10 and 11 is on ground floor while 5 is in the basement.

A nice litle hotell by the river

This hotel is a pearl. It is beautifully situated on a small river, the rooms are large and well furnished, it is quiet, comfortable and simply cozy. The hotel is family run, you will be very friendly and receive all the support you need. It is also important to note that the hotel has a laundry room where guests can wash their clothes for a small fee; this is very helpful in European countries and especially on longer tours. To mention that it is recommended to have a private car to reach the tourist attractions, as Orsa is remote. But the hotel itself has absolutely nothing to offer. When we come back to Siljan Lake, we will return to the beach with a little safety.

A pearl from a hotel

We stayed here for just one night, so we didn't spend much time at the hotel. However, I can say that the room was large, the breakfast was outstanding (so much choice) and being able to have breakfast on the balcony outside the breakfast room was great. The hotel is in a really nice, quiet location and it's easy to walk around Orsa from the hotel. We didn't hear any noise from outside or from the other rooms, so needless to say, we slept very well. The staff were so friendly and we would return without hesitation. The breakfast really stands out as being a memorable moment - beautiful view, black tea (rarely offered in Swedish B&Bs and so on) and newspapers to read. The only thing I missed out on was swimming - we simply didn't have time to go for a dip.
