Hands down one of the most beautiful places we have stayed.  Very clean, historic, wonderful place to stay.  Staff go above and beyond!  My husband and I stayed there for 3 nights and couldn't have had a better experience.  Each room is unique, there is a fishing dock, hot tub, and plenty of places to relax and enjoy the scenery.

Amazing Place to Stay

Ann Marie and staff have created a wonderful place to feel like home. I cannot say enough about the hospitality that is so comfortable. It is so inviting to a place to relax or use as a base spot to see the area.  It is very clean and updated and yet retains an older era charm.  The breakfast is a great way to start the day.

Wonderful hospitality

A great overnight stop off. Easy checking in (they leave the keys available for you). Amazing retro rooms decked out in a high 1940-50 style. Lovely setting on the river with (if you are quiet) a resident beaver! Hot tub and tennis courts to hire out. Small kitchenette with hob and micro plus pots, pans, utensils, plates and cups, and a fridge  available if you are self-catering. Good Swedish breakfast, big choice of cereal and yoghurt, fresh fruit salad, teas, coffee, 2 fruit juices, 2 cold meats, 2 cheeses, warm hard-boiled eggs, good variety of bread and an excellent artisanal crispbread. Small discounts if you make your own breakfast (but you really shouldn't!) and bring your own bedlinen and towels (which is a standard Swedish custom). The beds were comfy, on the firm side which suits me. We had a bathroom tiled in marble!
We would definitely stay again. A great place if you want to see how the other half lived after the war.


Fabulous Retro B&B

We stayed at Villa Billerud with our lovely friends for two nights whilst we explored Saffle and enjoyed some Swedish culture.  Our wonderful host Annmarie was very accommodating, and made us feel very welcome.  It was a lovely setting, very well maintained with beautiful old buildings in lovely gardens overlooking the river with elegant furniture and rooms.  We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

A fun adventure for Australian visitors experiencing Swedish culture.

Nice place with beautiful  rooms in traditional style. Very clean and quite in the night. Good traditional breakfast. If you like "old" style this place takes you back to the glory of the past.

Our navigation system had a little trouble finding the place, but once we did it was really very easy (just beyond a paper mill just off of E45).  The grounds were beautiful with a nice view of the river.  We stayed in the guest house, which was nice and large with great WiFi access.  The main house is really unique with a lot to look at and wonderful spaces.

The innkeeper is very nice and knew English well.  We were visiting Saffle to explore the old stomping grounds of my partner's family.  She pointed us to a helpful book in the breakfast room from which we were able to actually identify some relatives.  On our last day there, we mentioned the photos and she was able to not only identify the family, but also make contact with them.  We then spent hours visiting with long-lost relatives- it was an amazing experience!

A very excellent experience

Located just outside Saffle this has probably been the resting place for many senior visitors to the nearby paper industry for many years.    The main building, on a commanding site alongside the river is spacious and beautifully decorated.   The grounds are great to walk around.  With plenty of parking, WiFi, generally very peaceful and a great breakfast served in a grand old world style this is a good place to stay.
