Excellent! 

Booked breakfast a 0730, overslept by 2h and they still let me have breakfast! The massage chairs are devine! The view is amazing! The staff, oh the staff are first class!

I will come back some day, maybe winters time or something. Try out the spa...

En natt i Säröhus!

Stayed here after returning from Spain so arrived in the evening to be greeted by the owner and a very warm welcome. Had arranged for some family to meet us there for dinner and must say the owner really went the extra mile to make us happy, great host , breakfast with a fantastic view out over the lake, highly reccomended

A place with a fantastic view

You arrive to beautiful surroundings and when entering the hotel, you are welcomed by palace style stairs and chandeliers. The front desk is polite and pretty helpful, but the hotel have some really weird rules. We get the info that kids don’t get a robe to the spa, even if the child is as tall as an adult. The extra bed, we have to make ourselves. They don’t do that. All of this is the hotel rules according to the front desk. 
The rooms are clean but in need of a big renovation especially the bathroom. 
Dinner was very good, so hat off for the chef. But the staff in the restaurant was young and all beginners. Breakfast is a buffet that is like any average hotel. Not bad, not good. It is industrial pancakes, powder scrambled eggs and Rinkeby juice on the bad side, but you can make your own waffles, good bread and it is some fresh fruit on the good side. 
The SPA feels small and tight but with good brand of creams and other supplies. Too crowded except between 12-15. 

Strange rules

The reason to visit Säröhus Hotel & Conference is the tranquil surroundings and the spa area. 

The latter a real treat with a nice and warm pool, steam bath, sauna, infrared sauna, shower scrubs, masks and creams, soft drinks and water at no extra cost.

The stay we had included breakfast and dinner. Of which both were ok 

It will not be the last time we will visit Särö

The spa area is the gem

I had a fabulous recent stay in Särö. 40 min away from Gothenburg is just the perfect place for summer , a gate away to nature, beauty and Service!! Combined with my visit to Hede Fashion Outlet for great premium shopping outlet price during sales!!. 
As a frequent traveller I was truly inspired by the old style of the hotel, true that it resonates the old style in every aspect, decoration and architecture are not vanguard , but there is a beauty on it. The level of service and attention to detail makes the whole difference. A true old style hotel that cares for its guests instead of making money from each service they provide. 

Victoria, what a gem you have there . All the people were adorable! I can’t wait to come back to Särö. Thank you and best regards from Spain.

Amazing service, extra care and beautiful nature !

We've been there twice (and already booked a third time), for long weekend breaks from work and the busy city of Gothenburg. It is the most perfect place to relax and re-charge your batteries, with a lovely spa, fantastic decoration and furniture to relax in many different areas of the building and great views over the sea and islands from the elevated front of the building. We didn't try the main menu food, as we found the bar food more than adequate in both quality and quantity and the staff everywhere couldn't be more helpful and pleasant. 
Much of the building is of an older construction, but it has been modernised to a very high level, however retains all of it's charm, with the many corridors almost like a maze. Wonderful stuff !
If you want to venture outside, there are various walks into the nature reserve that runs along the coast and a small sandy beach at the bottom of the small hill to the hotel.
Did we have a gripe ?  Well, it's so small it's hardly worth mentioning, but I will because we were looking forward to this as part of our weekend's relaxation.
There is a games area aimed at teenagers (and older people in our case !), situated in an area below the main dining area. It has a pool table, jukebox and electronic dart board. We were very much looking forward to playing a game of darts or two as we have failed to find anywhere in Gothenburg that has a board, but sadly the electronics on the board were completely messed up and had a mind of their own and there were only two damaged darts to even attempt to play with. We were told by the youngsters in there that the juke box didn't work and the pool table had obviously seen better days. Quite what the cost to the hotel would be to replace these items and keep them in good order, I do not know, but not too much I suspect and it was the only area of the hotel that was not up to top notch standards. A shame, as the rest of it is brilliant.
Well worth a visit !

A superbly quaint hotel in a beautiful position.

Wow, this place is in such a beautiful location. We visited the last weekend before Christmas and was so lovely. The spa facilities are amazing, the staff are super friendly and accommodating. The food was lovely! Had a true Swedish Christmas experience, we are both originally not from Sweden (UK&USA) however living in Gothenburg, so was such an nice experience to see and hear about the traditions over the Christmas season and get away from the city in such a short drive.

Just Amazing!

Very cosy, old style seaside hotel excellent located 100 m from the sea and close to nature reserve. A strange mix of styles but a lot of atmosphere. You feel like being in the 1920’s. Got a very cosy room, also old style. Rooms seem to be placed in a newer wing but with an impressive combination of old and new you don’t feel the difference when leaving the original part of the hotel. Cakes, coffee, water, fruit and snacks are currently provided for guests during the day. An excellent feature! 

Breakfast so-so. Wide choice but taste and quality not impressive. Also we were disappointed by cleaning of corridors and - in particular - the cleaning of shower areas and jacuzzis in the spa where black spots and stripes witnessed long-time insufficient cleaning. Disgusting! No reaction, however, from the otherwise service minded front desk at check-out. Also the whole place needs refurbishment. Nevertheless, we recommend Säröhus for the location and the unusual atmosphere.

Atmosphere but cleaning issues

We were very well welcomed and the conference room, the food and the view from all rooms were just perfect. Great service from the staff as well. The only bad thing was to have the owner (a bit drunk) walking around among the guests in the evening. 

Almost everything perfect 

First things first, the location is absolutely beautiful and the hotels biggest selling-point. Make sure though to specifically book a room with sea-view or otherwise you stare at bushes. The interior and the common facilities are very luxurious and give a nice cozy feeling. The breakfast was great with lots of variety.

However, before the visit I checked the homepage and was promised a modern,  high-standard room, which I was looking forward to. Especially the bathroom and shower. Those expectations were not met and I felt rather disappointed throughout the whole stay. My room was old fashioned with a somewhat outdated furniture and used feel to it. The TV was way too small and too few channels. The bedside lamp did not work. The bathroom was nothing special. After taking a bath the whole floor was 2cm under water. You had to be very careful when flushing the toilet or it would get stuck and water would run continuously. So for the price this is not an OK standard.

The food was good, unfortunately it was cold because of slow service.

I didn't test the spa facilities but I'll be looking for another hotel if I want to do that next time.
