We had an excellent canoe trip at Eden Gardens. John met us, showed us our canoe, paddles, buoyancy aids, then gave us a helpful briefing. We paddled up the Black River which was very peaceful and beautiful. We saw several white tipped eagles soaring in the sky overhead, which was fabulous. At the bridge we turned around and paddled back, then out into the lake, which was also beautiful. A lovely relaxing day. Highly recommended! We will definitely be going back again.

Lovely canoe trip

We are a family of seven adults traveling from the west coast of the US. We spent over two weeks driving three Scandinavian countries and this property was the highlight. The house was lovely and the owner John could not have been kinder or more accommodating. The setting is magical. Highly, highly recommended.

Amazing property!

This was the third time I’ve rented a canoe from Edens Garden and each time it’s been a lovely experience. We had a very warm welcome and good instructions for the canoe. We then paddled up river as far as the bridge and then back down to the far end of the lake and back - stopping for lunch at the jetty. 

We only saw two other people over the entire four hours but the wildlife was great - especially the birds of prey including white-tailed eagle, honey buzzard, osprey and hobby. 

This is such a mindful experience, paddling along the water with only the sounds and sights of nature to accompany you on the way.

A lovely quiet paddle on the river and lake with loads of wildlife

We‘ve just spent 6 fantastic days staying at Edens Garden Cottage, it’s in a beautiful setting overlooking a lake. Facilities are great, we made good use of the BBQ and the outside seating area. John is a great host. Wildlife is amazing, from the cottage veranda we saw; Camberwell Beauty butterfly, White Tailed Eagle, Osprey, Montagu’s Harrier, Marsh Harrier,Pied Flycatcher, Cranes and so much more! We had over a hundred species of birds within a 15 mile circumference of the cottage. highly recommend Eden Garden Cottages. Looking forward to returning next year

Bird watching

We had an amazing afternoon paddling down the beautiful water. John met us on our arrival, a very friendly guide, and we received thourough instruction about the place we were about to paddle on, a little history about the place and of course where to/ and how to paddle:)  we took food with us that we ate on our way, also managed to have a quick dipin the water. Very beautiful and peaceful environment. all in all a very good experience that we will definately will come back to again. Thank you ;)

Daytrip kanut

We had a wonderful week with 7 adults, Large and clean house with lots of rooms and space around the house. The hottub, canoeing, and beaver safary made our holiday a very pleasant stay. John is extremely friendly and knows a lot about nature. You learn and enjoy at the same time. Absolutely recommended for families and friends who are looking for rest in a beautiful environment. Also, a lot of things to see and visit are at driving distance.

Great, large house with excellent host!

We (2 parents + children aged 10, 13,15) stayed 1 week in The Farm (end July-beginning August 2019). The Farm is a spacious and well equiped holiday house. The interior is kept in original rural style. All very tidy. The location is excellent for nature lovers. We hired a canoe for a day. John shared a lot of practical info on locations to visit, and covers both nature and culture. There is plenty of relevant tourist info, books and maps available as well in the house. Interaction with the owner is fast and very correct. Highly recommendable!

Excellent stay in the Farm

We visited Edens Garden with a family of four (kids’ age 3 and 6). We had a wonderful time. We were welcomed warmly by our hosts John and Mandy. Although the cottage is close tot the hosts’ home, we never felt we were invading their privacy, or they ours. 

Brilliant place for a time out

What can I say...everything was perfect, the communication, the accomodation (The Farm), the price. John and his family really know how to creat a cozy atmosphere, they are friendly, very helpful and open-minded. We were two families with 3 kids and we enjoyed the activites at Edens Garden very much. We would definitely come back. Highly recommended!

Feeling like a family member

Went on beaver safari as family of 4, didn't see any beavers and after about 30 seconds my son was has his paddle taken off him so couldn't canoe. He is autistic which fair enough the guy didn't know but he was very clearly distressed - spent 2 hours with hands over ears and head down as he wanted to canoe. As a mother it was heartbreaking to watch and I found it very upsetting and the fact he didn't seem to care at all. He also showed the Swedish family a beaver but told my children they weren't allowed to see it so none of us saw a beaver. 

Its probably fine if you are all adults but was a horrible trip for us. Thankfully our stay at another B&B has been lovely and they've been really kind with the kids. Didn't stay at B&B so can't comment. Daughter seemed lovely.
