Åte their "midsummer buffet" which was the most overpriced meal I've ever had. The food wasn't uneatable or anything, just very low standard and uninteresting. Some of the dishes were obviously made from powder or came straight out of a can. For this, I might have been prepared to pay maybe a quarter of the check. The thing was that they hadn't posted the price on their homepage, so the check came like an unpleasant surprise. We tried to talk things over with the waitress (threre were only one person working the whole thing it seemed) but that didn't land very well - she even walked out on the conversation! Obviously, she felt very uncomfortable with having to defend the place (though she didn't have to).

The venue overall is like taken from a horror movie; it's like the 1950's came to die there and it has been decaying ever since. The place reeks of old. I looked over their economic profile (online) which made it clear that this place will forfeit any day, which wasn't much of a surprise. 

My advice for this place: avoid it, unless you have a thing for throwing away your money on shamelessly overpriced food in an unkept setting with a rude staff.

It is really bang for the buck. The wild boar and venison köttbullar are great. The manager is highly effecient and approachable.

I have reviewed this place as a hotel before and so may people seem to like the restaurant that I thought I would give it a second chance. It was my birthday and I was going out with my mom. We entered and saw aroun 3 wait staff rushing around but no one stopped by to see if we wanted a table. After 10-15 minutes I flagged someone down and we were told we could get some of the menu in the bar. Two things, we weren't well dressed so maybe that was part of it? The other thing was there were TONS of tables! It wasn't even half full!? We got a strong feeling that we were not welcome. We left and went to the pizzeria. Much better service and friendly owner!!
I have since this, managed to eat at this restaurant and the food and service were pretty good but I have had such bad experiences here, I wouldn't go back if it is up to me. 

The local pizzeria, Stationen Röstånga and the bakery are all better and worth a visit to this town.

Didn't even eat.

This is the worst place I have stayed at. 

I spent two days and one night here for a conference, as part of a group package that also included meals. This was in April, during off season. Upon arrival, there was no one at the reception. I rang the bell, and once staff showed up after a second attempt and five or so minutes, check in was quick but with little useful information to go. I later heard from one of my colleagues, who had checked in earlier, that he had gotten the advice to turn down the blinds and turn off the lights when not in the room, due to the risk of theft. My room was a Category 1 Double Room. The first thing I noticed was the stale smell and dirt on the floor. The floor and carpet were not vacuumed, and the bathroom sink was dirty. The room has no place to store baggage (I put my bag in an easy chair). The window in the room faces a glass covered atrium, which is accessible to all guests. Expect to have people walk, stand or sit a few feet outside your window. Letting fresh air in to the room is out of the question with this set up. This is not mentioned on the website or during booking. The bed was very soft (this is not necessarily a bad thing if you prefer it that way) and the pillows were thin and small. There was a third older pillow in the cupboard that could not be used due to uneven stuffing. I checked the rooms belonging to the other members of our party, and all were of similar standard/condition. Seeing as we were only there for a short business stay and needed to get to work, I figured it would not be worth the hassle to complain. Hence I cannot comment on the staff's willingness to correct the situation or offer compensation. 

The meal and drink service was awful. First, and most importantly, one member in our party had an allergy that had been explicitly communicated during the booking. This had been completely missed. What is worse, once the staff were informed of this, they did very little to fix this oversight. For every serving, they came up with lame, uninspired alternatives, and only after we explicitly reminded them. This kept happening during the whole stay, which is unbelievable and reason enough not to return. Also, whenever we were served something, there was no information provided, so we had to ask. This would invariably send the waiter back to the kitchen to check. At one point, when asked if the food was free of the allergen, our waiter replied that "it must be", then became unsure and took the plate back to the kitchen. He returned 7-8 minutes later with something else. Moreover, many items on the menu were not available. This included the bar menu and wine list. At no point were we informed of the availability of items; instead our waiter brought us alternatives that he had chosen himself without any prior consultation with us. The breakfast buffet consisted mostly of lunch leftovers. There were lots of unusual breakfast items, such as sardines in tomato sauce and sliced onion, but only one hard cheese and no ham. The scrambled eggs were wet, the orange juice was lukewarm, and the bread selection meager. The lunch and dinner were meat-based, with boring, hard to chew meat, over-boiled vegetables, and tasteless sauces (used generously). It seemed that not a single meal was freshly prepared but rather defrosted and reheated. The wine (red and white) were served at the wrong temperature. The less than stellar food experience continued the second day. For lunch we got a starter that was ice cold (a Smörrebröd style sandwich that had been stored on its plate in the fridge). The main course was rock-hard, reheated pork chops with overcooked potatoes and a sauce that, judging by the thickness of its skin, must have been living in its heated container since the day before. There were almost no other guests when we were there, and we had pre-booked several weeks in advance. My expectation was that meals should have been freshly cooked. I usually take pride in not leaving any food on the plate, but I could not finish a single meal during my stay. Furthermore, the table cloths were dirty at all times, the napkins were wrinkled and had a strange odor, and the glasses had an unpleasant smell of sea/fish. For breakfast, we were told to sit at a few select tables away from the windows (where we wanted to sit). These tables had sloppily hand-written signs saying "Frukost" (Swedish for breakfast) on them. This despite that there were NO other guests at the time, meaning we should have been allowed to sit wherever we wanted.

The conference room that we used was of a poor standard. Only one window could be opened (about an inch; not enough as all the windows were facing the sun), the writing on the whiteboard could not be erased, and there was a limited number of sockets. 

The men's restroom in the basement reaked of urine during both days we were there. 

The overall atmosphere of the building was part spooky, part depressing. This was in part due to the low occupancy in relation to the capacity, and the lack of attention to the interior design. The long corridors were kept dark, probably to save electricity (I recommend bringing a flashlight for emergency evacuations). The furniture and interior is old, some in a charming manner with nice patina, but other parts are just worn and ugly, with sloppily hung artwork and sad plants. It is obvious to me that the owners don't care. However, the building, especially the old part, is not without qualities. Had it been clean and staffed with service minded, friendly people, serving good food, my impression would have been more positive. I 

I do not expect luxury at this price point, and my views are not a reflection of that, but places like this need to understand that good food, attentive service, and clean, functional rooms is key to a good stay. That does not need to cost a lot.

I guess many people come here for the location next to the Söderåsen national park. I strongly advise seeking alternative accommodation.

Awful experience

This old fashioned hotel is in the countryside close to fantastic hiking areas. Since we live nearby we don't have to stay the night, even if that is possible. We just visited to have a traditional Mårten/Marten's goose dinner in November. Here it served daily, and sometimes in the evening with dancing (and then I guess you will have to stay the night). Huge dining rooms, old fashioned but quaint in a way. You can find these types of guest houses with grand dining rooms in many places in Germany, but not quite that often in Sweden. The goose dinner offered was a choice of a salmon sandwich, esparagus soup or "black soup" with all the trimmings. Three of us preferred the latter, and one went for esparagus soup. Both were good choices. The black soup was spicy from Christmas spices as it should. Chose the wine package also, and got a fino sherry along with the soup. Then came the main course, which was goose. This was plentyful and served with everything you could wish for. Here we would like to give a FIVE!! The wine package offered a pinot noir, even if shiraz was served to most. We went for the more traditional pinot noir and were pleased with our wine. A somewhat dull apple cake with custard followed. Service was mostly very friendly, though not always flexible ("no, we do not make ANY changes", but in the end we agreed on a good compromise for the person who couldn't order a full wine package of FOUR glasses of wine - someone has to drive and prefers no wine, or just a half glass to make a toast with). Price for wine package 290 and for dinner 495. High price but the black soup and goose were excellent, while the premises, service, dessert and wine gets somewhat lower scores from us.

Perfect place for a traditional goose lunch or dinner. A review of restaurant only.

My husband, our baby and I stayed here one night for a wedding nearby. There were three grades of rooms and since we had not been away since our baby was born we decided to splurge and get the most expensive room (over 200 USD). While the room had been renovated, it was all superficial (paint and renovated bathroom, some furniture too).

We checked in which was quick and since we were late for the first wedding activity, we wanted to quickly change and leave. Upon entering the room I saw a dust bunny. I reported it to the front desk and they did send someone immediately to clean the floor. We then left for the festivities. 

We returned shortly after midnight which is when I turned down the bed and saw more than one hair under the pillows. In addition to this, the shower doors were watermarked and since it was raining at the time, we discovered that our room leaked. We went to sleep anyway and hoped the next day would be better. We went to breakfast. There were no clean tables and after waiting a few minutes for someone to come and clean one but when that didn't happen we sat at a dirty one and pushed the dishes to the side. I went to the front desk again and said the tables were dirty and there was no silverware. The woman there immediately went to the kitchen and had one of the girls working there bring out more silverware but still no one cleaned a table. Other guests came to eat and all ended up pushing dishes to the side to sit and eat. Meanwhile, the staff refilled the buffet, but I did check the time and it took 20 minutes before someone started to clean tables.

I don't usually complain in person. I may write a bad review but upon checking out I did complain since we spent so much money. I was told I should have said something earlier about the room and they could have changed it. For more than 200 bucks shouldn't the room be clean? At the time she did not offer any compensation or offer to refund our money. About an hour later we received a call asking us to contact them. When we did, they offered to mail us some compensation. I was not eager to take it but at least it was something. That was more than 2 weeks ago and still we have not gotten anything in the mail. Regardless, I would not stay here again.

I did not check about the amenities.
