We booked two rooms for ourselves and our two teenaged daughters for three nights. The hotel was lovely and charming, the staff was delightful and remembered little details about our family throughout our stay. The breakfast bar was simply wonderful and we looked forward to it each morning. There was such a variety of options for breakfast (including gluten-free hardtack, which was good for me), and the food was all authentic to Sweden. Additionally, breakfast was available until 10 am so we were able to sleep in if we wanted. The rooms and bathrooms are small, true, but not any smaller than other rooms in other Swedish hotels - hotel rooms in Sweden are not like the ones in America and I actually appreciate it because who needs a huge room unless you are spending your time on vacation in your hotel room all day. And the rooms are not tiny; there’s plenty of room to move around. It’s just that they are not ridiculously huge (which would be unnecessary anyway). The rooms are clean and tidy and there is a TV. There is a combined body wash/shampoo in the shower, and a hairdryer and a fan in the room. There’s no AC, as most Swedish hotels don’t have AC, but you don’t need it - Sweden’s summers are mild and you can open the windows at night and it’s still relatively quiet at this hotel. Also there are blackout drapes. Directly next to the hotel is a second hand shop that is wonderful; we highly recommend stopping in there. You can walk to restaurants and a grocery store (Willy’s) and Udevalla is a good central town to stay in if you want to do day trips to other towns (we visited Gothenburg, Lysekil, Hillared, Alingsäs, and Fiskebackskil while staying at the hotel). Charming little hotel

Nice «old fashioned» hotel between the railway station and the city center, both a few minutes walk away. Hotel is «closed» until 15.00 hrs when check-in starts, but you can leave your luggage if arriving before. Nice room with comfy beds, no AC but a fan is avaliable in the closet. Small bath with shower. Nice breakfast included in the room rate. Friendly staff.

Nice old fashioned hotel

This little hotel is located near the city center.
I don’t recommend to visit Uddevalla, because there is nothing.
Over all, the hotel is nice and the staff is really cozy and friendly.
The hotel has also a sauna that you can use freely.
Breakfast is poor, there is a little choice but for just one day is ok.

Just for one night

We stayed at the Skona Rum for one night. It was a very nice and pleasant stay. The hotel is within walking distance to the town center and the train station. It is impeccably clean, nice big rooms, very friendly owner and a lovely delicious morning breakfast with a lot of choices i.e. Muesli, fish, cold cuts, cheese, bread, jams, juices etc. etc. There is also parking on the premises. If we ever will visit Uddevalla again we will for sure stay at the Skona Rum again.

Very nice quiet hotel

The Hotel Skona Rum is a quintessential old Swedish building, bags of character. Its surroundings, like much of Uddevalla has seen better times, the centre of town is approx. a five minute walk.
As soon as you step inside the Hotel, the theme is everything nautical, Yachts, Portholes, Charts, everything is beautifully done and so the theme works. The first impression you get is the incredible standard of cleanliness, it is possibly the cleanest Hotel we have stayed in. We had a standard room, a reasonable size with a small Balcony (the only room with one) decoration was immaculate, beds were very comfortable. The Bathroom was a little small, but well appointed.
Breakfast choice was excellent, again spotlessly clean.
Car Parking is available at a small charge.
Finally we must mention Paolo, our host, a young man who seems to do everything, friendly, informative and obviously passionate about the Hotel.

Nauticle theme.

Everything with Hotell Sköna Rum was absolutely perfect.
My girlfriend and I stayed for two nights, one night in a double room and the last night in Sweet 21. The double room was nicely decorated and large. And Sweet 21 was awesome with our own bobblebath in the room.

The breakfast was very good. The staff made us feel very welcome at the hotel. The location was also very nice, easy approach from the E6 and a short walk to the city centre.

Superb! 

We spent 2 nights in this hotel. Good location with only 5 mins walk to the town centre, very clean, friendly and helpful staff. The decor nautically themed which added character. Our Room wasn't too big but enough space to walk around the bed. Breakfast food was varied, all fresh and plenty for the size of the dining room. Parking spaces if you book with the hotel in advance. If not, huge carpark right opposite the hotel.
