Clean, spacious, outdoor seating, great dinner and wines. Staff were friendly and extremely efficient. Breakfast had so many cheese selections.  Front reception very helpful. Helped with directing us to bus stop to catch the cable car.  Super experience.

Do not hesitate to book.

The photos are misleading. The hotel may be one of the oldest buildings in Altdorf, but it now surrounded by an industrial site! We didn’t even get to stay in the main building  but an awful concrete block of a building next to it, which has storage units with roller shutters below, so the noise was awful. The room was okay, smallish bathroom & a hairdryer that looked like it was from the 70’s (looked like a Hoover & the handle got hot & just huffed air on to you!) Very expensive for what it was & very disappointing. Thank goodness we were only stay one night!

Very disappointing & expensive!

Car breakdown meant we had to find last minute hotel ... via booking.com got a family room. Comfortable and spacious but no air-con so bit stuffy. 
Had dinner in restaurant ... 4 course tasting menu and all courses were delicious. 
Breakfast following day pretty standard. Able to accommodate for gluten-free. 
A pricey unscheduled stop at £450. But room & dining options met our needs. 

Emergency stop when car broke down 

I stayed in the Hotel Hofli on business for two nights, and it met my needs very well. 

My room, in the annex, was spacious and comfortable. The welcome, in the joint reception for the hotel and the restaurant, was friendly and informative. The restaurant was excellent . I has a very good pizza on the first evening and a schnitzel on the second. Service did slow a little when the restaurant was very busy, but that is hardly surprising.

On the second evening, I walked into the town centre. It was only a short distance and a pleasant stroll, though in a small town there was not too much to see - apart for the William Tell monument, of course.

And the wifi was good!

Swiss efficiency

I have now stayed in the Hotel Holfli three times, once as a passing customer where we walked in and booked and yes it was six years ago and it cost £100 and on that occasion we were give a beautiful room in keeping with the hotel .
The last two times have been with Booking .com and we have been given the Booking.com room twice and that is room No 1 . It is small , tacky and basic and quite honestly not worth the 160 Swiss Francs . Yes indeed the breakfast is good but honestly go one hour up the road to the Nova Hotel Freiburg and you will see what your money can get in comparison.
We ate at the Hotel Holfli this stay and had One large beer , one small beer, one mixed salad between two and two normal pizzas and this came to £80 . 
This would cost half as much in Germany or indeed Italy or even Greece, however I will concede that we were served by a lovely girl from the Ukraine and the pizzas were delicious but at the back of your mind you just know you have been ripped off ! Now again I have to be honest and say that I think the home of William Tell might be expensive all over and the Hotel is not in isolation so do your research before deciding that Altdorf is the place you want to stay.

Expensive Stay !

We stop here on the way to the Italian Lakes. Although Altdorf is not flash and urbane like Lucerne, it does have all you need plus amazing views of the imposing Alps rising up all around you.

The centre is pretty and the hotel is 2 mins walk from it and all the restaurants and bars. However, you don't need to go out because the hotel restaurant/pizza place is great ( good children's deal which is important in ultra expensive Switzerland).

Rooms are tidy, comfortable and well decorated. Go for the new wing of possible.

Friendly staff, good breakfast and excellent setting. Good value and great option if you want to get to the Göttard Tunnel before the queues (and you do especially on Saturdays).
