Very disappointed with hotel and food,the room was basic, no door to bathroom and a radiator that didn’t work and new shower that only had one setting which was scalding hot and could not stand under it 
We had dinner which was average and found the prices were ridiculously overpriced

Disappointed

First sights are not very encouraging in this old chalet with antediluvian fabric wallpapers and rather dark reception, but it turned out that a stay there was not that bad. Admittedly the rooms would need a serious overhaul but, even so, they are clean, correctly equipped, quite functional and, importantly, the bedding is comfortable. The small spa, the only refurbished part of the hotel, has been very nicely made and offers a sauna, a steam bath, a jacuzzi and enough rest spots. We selected the hotel for it, in order too relax after hiking and were quite pleased with it. Breakfast is simple but correct (try not to have it when a big group is stopping by), front desk discrete but efficient and all this comes with a very decent pricing. Quite recommendable overall.

Better than it looks

It's a charming restaurant with some character, no question. But service was far from acceptable, giving us the feeling they were doing us a favour. Food was only ok, and very expensive. We left the place regretting our decision of stopping there to have lunch.

A rip-off average restaurant

We stopped at this restaurant during a road trip, mainly because of the kids. From outside, it looked nice, and we thought it would be better to eat in a proper restaurant instead of an average gas station / road stop. Big mistake...

After entering and sitting - by ourselves - it took 10min until someone asked whether we were going to eat. Well, if I'm sitting in a restaurant, I'm willing to eat...anyway, we were shown another table and given menus. We ordered a risotto, a portion of fries, and 2 pasta dishes: one with mushrooms and one with nothing, just olive oil and salt.

It took around 25min for the food to arrive. The risotto was fine, as well as the fries. The pasta with olive oil came also with black pepper - which for our 4-yr old son was difficult to eat, so he stuck with the bread only. The pasta with mushrooms was borderline ok: absolutely nothing special, and the mushrooms were extremely soft, too watery to be honest, and difficult to swallow. Maybe that's the way they do it there, but I'd rather have them a little more firm, so I could taste them.

No drinks, just water, and the bill came at 90 swiss francs! 

In summary: if you can, stay away from it - unless you are a regular and like it. Otherwise, stop on the road stations, and you'll get better food for a better price.

Food below average

We called in here with starving kids after a long drive from Turin.

It was 2:15pm and they'd stopped serving. The barman rude and dismissive. We should have taken the hint.
The manageress appeared and said that she'd see what she could do. What they could do was ham and chips x 5. My wife and I had a 'luxury' version of this perennial favourite, with more than one type of ham. I had a beer.

For some reason I had it in my head that the swiss franc was worth about 30 pence. Um, no. We discovered the actual cost of this meal (never shown a price list) as we continued down the valley.

£90. Ninety pounds. Many euros. Okay so I should have double-checked before we ate, but I'm really not in the habit of being so royally ripped-off. 

I really would suggest that you eat somewhere else, hungry travellers.

PS. Pour les francophones, il s'agit d'un restaurant a eviter absolument car ils nous ont fait payer £90GBP pour cinq repas (dont trois pour enfants) de jambon frites. Pas de menu, aucun prix communique; vraiment honteux comme comportement, en gros, de la part de cette eablissement.

Highway Robbery

Group of us stayed here in July 2015. It's a tired hotel in need of a refurb. But the price was reasonable, the food was certainly better than average, they didn't run out of beer, breakfast was good and the bed was comfortable. So, really, what more can you ask?

It's OK...

Stayed here over the new year break. You will enjoy this place if your expectations are not a 5 star hotel - but a bed and breakfast. 

The hotel and rooms are "old-fashioned" and could do with some upgrade work - its like going back to the late 80's in a time machine :-) - that said, the rooms were clean (including the bathroom with nice and hot water after a day's skiing) and they were very quiet at night. The staff were very friendly and helpful. If you’re looking for a simple, relatively inexpensive place to stay and explore the area – then this place is OK.
