idk about the hotel but the person at the cashier in the self service area counted the money wrong and knew it. the staff around us saw it as well and it seemed like a reoccurring thing. 
we weren’t mean and she gave it back but count precisely.

careful with the money

We were on a ski holiday and had our lunch at Jochpass in Engelberg. 
As soon as I entered the son of the owners stood ready to check us and instead of greeting us friendly he yelled” Maske auf!!”
I was just taking off my ski helmet and blown in by the wind trying to hastily put on my mask.
The next thing he grabbed one of my daughters (12 years old) and pushed her back, to prevent her from going too far in the entrance hall.
The next thing he yelled was “ Zertifikaat und ID !!”
I was really flabbergasted.

I understand that restaurants and retailers have to confide in the Covid rules but there are different ways of handling the situation. 

With or without certificate, the manner you present the rules or go about them makes all the difference.

This restaurant clearly does not understand what hospitality is about. 

The coming week we went to another restaurant which clearly had a better way of handling things, and at least a welcoming friendly smile in the eyes..

Terrible people at Jochpass Engelberg

Not friendly during Covid period

This is the review of the Restaurant and not the hotel.  

We were staying in the nearby Trübsee hotel and went hiking to Jochpass.  We stopped by for lunch and was greatly rewarded!  Food at the Stübli was excellent:  we had delicious and sturdy Gerstensuppe (Barley soup) and wonderful Luzener Pastetli.  It is not easy to find Pastetli with tender pastry and generous filling but this one delivered.

Wonderful mountain food!

Great lunch and very cute place to enjoy lunch! Food was really well cooked and tasty, good value for money! Very typical Swiss chalet, and friendly staff! They have a great bar and snacks area under, and big rooms to sit in the proper restaurant upstairs. Service was good and quick! Great view and full sun on the terrass for lunch time!

Lunch on the ski slopes

We hiked from Engelberg to the Jochpass mountain hotel. After the very steep and strenuous mountain walk it was lovely to arrive in this hotel with its sunny terrace and wonderful evening meal. Breakfast was delicious with lovely fresh bread and great cheese!

Wonderful place to stay

We stayed there to break the "four lakes hike". Everything was excellent, the room with a beautiful sunrise on Engelberg. The breakfast sets you for a full day hike. The diner was a four course meal delicious and nicely presented. The staff is fantastic and found some paracetamol for my headache.

Highly recommended.

Fantastic overnight stay

I have eaten here at least 3-4 times, mostly in the summer.
The terrace is absolutely perfect, overlooking the Engelberg side of the pass (Trubsee). The Service is friendly and extremely quick. Servers use an electronic pad to enter your order and the Food is delivered to your table in no time.
It may not be super-fancy gourmet stuff, but more than adequate.
I highly recommend it.

Beautiful view and good service

Unlike other ski regions, it seems that in Engelberg they still serve the once typical canteen food in the mountain restaurants. So don’t expect much: tasteless food, prepared for the masses and without special effort (if you observe how they prepare it).

Restaurant: you didn’t miss much if you didn’t eat there

This review is going to be short because if you’re interested enough to find a place where there are no vehicles and you can sleep in peace at 2200 m... add to that incredible staff, incredible food, incredible views, incredible everything. And you get this hotel. Tried in summertime want to try in winter time. Kudos to Erwin / Stefan and team!


Heaven. 

Here you can select 3 different locations, the bar, the self service and the excellent restaurant with full service. If the weather is expected to be fine it is advisable to make a reservation at the restaurant outdoors. You will always find a spot in the bar and self service. You have to take the lift or hike here...As good in the winther as in the summer.
If you are in Engelberg a visit here is a must.
