Four bikers looking for simple accommodation, with good food and beer... got just what we wanted.  What a wonderful Hotel. Run by a lovely couple, Lisbeth and Walter. It was perfect place for a 4 night stay of our Alpine road trip. The hotel is in Isenthal which is not far from Flulen and because of its location we found it easy to ride to the many passes that we bikers love.The hotel is quite remote, in a small village, which was fine for us as it had all we needed. It has the most amazing, winding single track road leading up to the village from the main road which includes a tight spiral tunnel. The hotel sits in the middle of this small village. It has free parking and an outside terrace (to enjoy a beer while looking at the stunning surrounding scenery.)
We all had separate bedrooms with a shared bathroom. The hotel was quiet so no problem for us. My room had the most amazing outlook from the window.
Lisbeth was a perfect host and Walter cooks some really good dishes. We went for the set meal option which was very reasonably priced.
All in all. it was just what we wanted at the end of a days riding.

Four Bikers made very welcome

Me and my girlfriend decided to split our trip (Genoa to Strasbourg) and spend one night in this hotel.
We arrived in late 11:30 PM but no problem; the very kind owner lives there and after a call received us.

The structure is awesome and typical. The room is clean and is bed very confortable.
There is a private parking.

Breakfast is very very good,typical and generous.

Nice & Typical

Me and my boyfriend ended up staying here on our motorcycle trip around Europe and it was a great experience. The Gasthaus is owned by a lovely couple who made the place feel very homely and cosy. 

What to do in Isenthal:
I went hiking along one of the many hiking trails in the area. The trail lead me up to the top of one of the smaller peaks with stunningly beautiful scenery. The trails are clearly marked and easy to follow. It took me around the mountain and up to the peak through the woods and local farmland. Sometimes I had to open and close gates to follow the trail, which didn't seem to matter to anyone. The trail was an easy hike and you will not need anything but regular sneakers to comfortably reach he peak. The views from the trail were stunning! 
  My boyfriend went on a motorbike ride since there are many high passes and scenic routes in the area which can easily be reached from Isenthal. The road leading up to the village offers spectacular views of the nearby lake and because there are very few hotels nearby there was not too much traffic, and even fewer caravans to get stuck behind. 

How to get here:
There is a bus service from the nearby town of Altdorf and there were several bus stops along the road through Isenthal. We never used it, but it seemed the service was frequent. 
If you drive, you will come up along the road from Altdorf up towards Isenthal. The village is mostly situated along the main road and the Gasthaus can easily be found along the road in the middle of the village. 
 
Where to eat:
The restaurant downstairs (which is also run by the same couple) serves amazing food. Meals range from 15-30 chf and drinks are not too expensive. They have both local meals, such as Rosti (a version of fried potatoes, which was delicious), and stuff everyone will recognise, such as sausages and schnitzel. 
  The breakfast was served in the restaurant every morning and it included everything you could possibly eat, from bread and croissants to muesli and eggs. 

Facilities:
Our room was great and we had plenty of space for all our camping gear, motorcycle stuff and everything else we are bringing with us for a 6 months trip around Europe. The beds were great and the view from our room was absolutely spectacular! 
  The bathroom was very good and always clean. Even though it is shared between the rooms, the Gasthause is small and we never had to wait for our turn. Our room was on the top floor and the bathroom was one floor down but we never had any trouble with the stairs. The house is of a traditional local style. 
  You can order a takeaway lunch from the restaurant to bring with you on your hike. There is also a small shop next door. 
 Parking was available outside the entrance, it was easy to unload our stuff and get it upstairs and we never had any trouble finding a parking spot. 

Overall our turned out great and we will definitely come back here next time!

Amazing views and wonderful service!

Location is difficult to reach. A long way up the mointain road. Bathroom is extremely small. You have to sit on the toilet to brush your teath.  Breakfast is served downstairs in the canine of the hotel.

Basic accomodation, nice view

My wife & I loved this gasthaus! The owners are extremely nice & welcoming. We talked about breakfast options & agreed on a time & everything we had mentioned was waiting on the table for us. The walls are covered in community/family memorabilia & also in the wife's paintings! The road into Isenthal is a great one too!
