We went to this hotel as an intermediate stop for one night while traveling to Italy. Even though it was very late we were warmly welcomed. 

The hotel is definitely very dated but extremely well maintained. Our room was very clean and consisted out of two small beds pushed together against a wall which was not super comfortable. The private shower was clean and spatial. Toilet was shared amongst multiple people on our floor but looked clean. 

The owner was in the process of clearing breakfast when we went downstairs, I guess we were later than usual guests, but immediately remade the breakfast buffet for us and made us coffee. Extremely kind. 

We did find the room a bit expensive for what we got, which is kind of on us for traveling in July and finding something last minute. 

Would definitely stay again here as an intermediate stop or to check out the beautiful surroundings.

Decent rooms and incredibly kind owner

The Hotel Gotthard is a small, traditional Swiss hotel. It appears rather dated (and brings back memories of hotels from the 1970s and 80s), but my room (Room 3) was clean, comfortable and appeared to have been repainted quite recently. The manager was very welcoming. Anyone looking for a de luxe international chain hotel will be disappointed, but I greatly enjoyed staying here and would gladly do do again. Good breakfast buffet. A Co-op supermarket is located just 5 minutes away. The hotel is also within a short walk of Göschenen railway station.

Very welcoming

The hotel is very old, the place is very run down with DIY repairs which had taken place quite badly. None of the furniture matched, very limited, floor boards creaked, curtains just fitted and the doors did not fit.
Great greeting at early hours of the morning, land lord could not do enough, nothing seemed to be a problem. Breakfast basic, but very fresh.
Do not look for luxury, but if you just want a stop over, just right.

Very old hotel in a beautful village, but run down

It is a hotel for those, who come to Uri to enjoy nature. The owner is a very nice guy, who does his job and tries to keep you satisfied. We had a twin bed room with a huge bathroom. Parking is available, supermarket is 5 minutes walking distance, 7 minutes to the railway station, good breakfast. Nothing to complain about. We truly enjoyed our stay.

Very good, simple and well located

Avoid this hotel at all costs, dirty sheets, dirty bed, dirty room and bad smell coming from the bathroom, very unhelpful staff, bad wi-fi, very poor breakfast, very disgusting Hotel, one of the worst Hotels I had the unfortunate pleasure to stay in .

Terrible Hotel, avoid at all cost

We spent 4 nights in hotel gotthard skiing in andermatt each day.
There are trains to goschenen from Basel and Zurich (a few hours) and the train to andermatt goes from goschenen frequently (twice at 0804 and 0811 am to catch the first lifts). It takes 15 minutes and it is a short walk to both lift stations (2 minutes and 10 minutes).
It’s lucky the trains are frequent as when we went we discovered there are no bars or restaurants in goschenen. Plenty in andermatt.
Goschenen is very (completely) quiet and we were there at the height of the season with good snow.
The hotel is adequate but very tired and in need of redecoration. It does the basics- warmth, hot shower, bed and comfy duvet and an ok breakfast but nothing more. The owner was eccentric but harmless. Price is reasonable compared to andermatt but still expensive when paying in pounds.
As a ski resort andermatt is phenomenal with plenty of powder and couloirs to ski and loads of free riding potential.

A very friendly welcome after a stressful day in busy trafic. Superclean little oldfashioned hotel, cheap with great beds . Charming host! Breakfast nice croissants eggs yoghurt and good coffee!
