We were traveling with a sleeping van. Because we catched a cold we decided around 9.30 PM to sleep a night in a hotel. 

My partner called in the Locanda Turisti and was told that the hotel was fully booked. At the same time I read on booking.com that two double rooms were free. We were really tired and so we just tried to book online - and this (surprisingly or not) worked.

When we arrived in the hotel we waited 25 minutes until the room was cleaned. For the waiting time we ordered a drink and it would have been nice if the hotel had offered one to us for the waiting time but it was charged.

The room was nice and quiet. The breakfast was okay. The receptionist was quite friendly. We liked the hotel on one side but are not really sure what to think about.

Mixed feelings: hotel 4 points / experience 2 points

This is a modern, smart accommodation that also seemed to be the centre of village life. Having said that the village (of Bignasco) has very few ameneties! This hotel has been run for less than a year by three women, a mother and her two daughters, which possibly explains the popularity.
The chef (male) produces high quality food in the local Swiss/Italian fashion but his relatively small menu changes just once a week. There are three perfectly adequate other eateries within walking distance but which lack the style of here. The bedrooms are not large but reasonably well-equipped but the cheaper ones have no bathroom. 
We were travellinig without a car and the local transport was almost totally satisfactory for our 8-day walking programme. Twice we were taken the short distance by car down the valley to Cevio to catch the postbus up a side valley. This was typical of the helpfulness of the three ladies in charge.

My single room was small and compact. The bed was a bit creaky but quite comfortable, there were no drawers or wardrobe to store clothing, just coat hangers on one of the walls.  There was a small stool, but no table or desk. The room was clean with quite nice decor and a small Television.  The ensuite was very nice and had a great view to the mountains.  The owner spoke good English and was very obliging and helpful.  The situation was central to this small village and very close to the bus stop. The restaurant on the ground floor was reasonably good.
