3 MONTHS waiting for my reversal. the hotel's light ended, the generator broke, we couldn't use the hotel or bathe in it. the guy at the reception was kind and said that the hotel told us that he would return our rate for this day. I've been waiting for 3 months, I already made several contacts in the email he gave and they don't return me

Charming hotel with lots of character. We loved having a balcony with a view. Hotel is dated but we loved the cottage like feel of it. Beds and pillows were comfortable, morning breakfast was simple yet satisfying. Parking on site was great. The location was a little far from town which meant we had to drive however you could catch the city bus near the hotel. We would absolutely stay here again.  

Quaint, cottage like feel

This was the saddest hotel in our trip. We were so displeased that we checked out a day early and lost money on it and paid double for a last minute booking in another hotel. People were nice but they seriously need to do something about the rooms. I dont know how rooms are in the higher floors but we were given a room on the first floor which was massive but with bare thread centuries old carpet and basic linens and really horrible duvet covers. The sink had a bad smell every time you started the hot water and it would make us gag. Since we were on first floor we did not have any special view also. Overall the whole hotel has this old smell. The breakfast was also very bare minimum but was on the 4th floor so the views were amazing from there. Grindelwald hotels are expensive and I had booked this hotel at the price of $300/night even though I knew it was 2 star because of other traveller reviews and I expected it to be atleast like motels in US where the linens are nice and there is no smell but was very disappointed. They have free parking and there is a bus that comes close to the hotel so location wise it is fine. People were nice but did not bother to offer us another room or make up some way when we checked out earlier than expected.

Very sad state of hotel

The Hotel du Sauvage is quite a reasonable hotel that offers good-sized rooms and a great view of the Eiger, in a quieter part of town. The location aspect is a double-edged sword however. It’s great if you have a car (and there seems to be plenty of parking) but a bit far for the average person to wheel their suitcase - about 400m and mostly uphill. The helpful owners offer a pickup and drop off service however, and could not be kinder.
Probably the only real failing of the hotel is their very basic breakfast. I expect a basic breakfast in these sorts of hotels, but this one really is towards the basic end. A bread knife might be a good idea for the rolls too! A few more options would be a great idea!
The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was roomy. I enjoyed good nights sleeping here.
As I said earlier, the staff were very friendly and helpful and this goes a long way for a good customer experience.

Great view, good service, nice rooms - slightly basic and away from the station

Rooms are spacious with balcony with excellent views of Eiger Mountain. Very impressive when you wake up in the morning and see this good view. Hotel staff are polite and helpful. Breakfast is included but needs improvement on food varieties. Very convenient if you drive as free parking is provided. Easy to find parking in the city centre too which is only a few minutes away by car.

Hotel with Good Mountain Views

It might a bit far from town if you don't have a car. We finally book here after we rent a car during our stay at Dec. Room nothing special, cleaning, not complaint. Receptionist is a India staff very helpful, our car break down due on too cool, and we didn't have any driving experience during winter but the Indian staff give us a helping hand without doubt. Breakfast simple but nice. We will definitely come back next time.

Magnificent view from the hotel

Stayed here with a larger group. The hotel is completely outdated (e.g. hairdryers, decoration, furniture...) and absolutely over priced for what it is. Room only cleaned when explicitly asked for. And otherwise not well kept,e.g. table cloths were already dirty on Saturday morning and not changed for Sunday. Disgusting. We had a full hit chocolate spot on the table. 
They are friendly and help with the slightly complicated parking but sorry, needs more than that... just not enough. Would not go back!

Overpriced, outdated and not well kept 

We had a spectacular view from our balcony. The family room was very comfortable and clean with a nice dividing area for two of the beds. Krishna (apologies if I spelt name incorrectly) was very helpful. Little examples lending me an adaptor for my phone our tipping us off on the local pool to visit. Indeed all the staff were very helpful. Free covered parking was a plus and we enjoyed our walk into town. Definetely visit First Mountain. Overall the hotel was quiet and relaxing and perfect for our family needs.

Very kind and helpful staff

This hotel sits above village of Grindelwald, about a 15-minute walk to town.  The rooms are outdated, but do offer wonderful views of the Eiger.  It does not have a proper check-in area.  Where you check-in they are not too friendly or helpful on information about the area.  The parking is very tight.  The breakfast is average and there was a young man that worked in the breakfast area who was very nice.  The views in the dining area are spectacular too.
