The reception was cordial, the accommodation was clean and the location top (right behind Piazza Grande). In my opinion, however, the price-performance ratio is still far from good and bad: - rooms on the top floor are incredibly hot and sticky in summer, as the sun shines on the roof and the rooms do not have air conditioning. (Sleep was also not very relaxing) - the building is old-fashioned and you can always see that only the most necessary things were done (the whole house seems to be something assembled) - the building has no elevator - so nothing for disabled people - toilet and bathroom are not very available in the room, but only on the floor.

Price-performance is disproportionate!

We have travelled in three and were very friendly and welcomed from the beginning. Rooms with balcony are not a problem;-) and also no problem if the balcony rooms are already gone, there is a nice roof terrace available for everyone. Price/performance for breakfast... very good! In general we found the price/performance ratio very good!!! Beds are comfortable, although showers are in the community bathroom but also very clean and in times of Corona there is special attention paid to it. Disinfectant is felt in every room and wearing masks except the room is compulsory. We come back anyway! Best Dude in Town!

Best pension in town;-)

We arrived without reservation, there was only one room with three beds without toilet or private bathroom. These are common on the ground floor (three bedrooms for two toilets and two showers) and very clean! But not very convenient especially for shower curtains The hotel is old, but well maintained and very well located. Paid parking spaces are available just in front. The reception was very warm, by a man who speaks very well French which helped us greatly. The breakfast is complete and worthy of a good hotel: wineries, fruit juices, etc... The price we exorbited for the services but ultimately cheaper than the competitors around us.

Ideally located and very welcoming

Quite a good location, around 600 meters from Train station.  The room was clean as well as the bathroom but the toilet are so very small.  The duvet is super comfortable with a thick down.  The owner is really generous.  After all it's worth the money.

Worth the money

Nice little boarding house with good price performance, a German-speaking receptionist with a lot of warmth & professionalism & a central & yet quiet location & of course will.. admittedly with communal baths I still find myself a little difficult, my backpacker times are too long ago, but there was no rush hour here like in hostels in Australia & New Zealand! Also everything was utterly clean & maintained! As a little secret tip I recommend the roof terrace in the evening/night hours!

Absolutely sufficient for the smaller budget

Located in the old town of Locarno, two steps from Piazza Grande, Pensione Città Vecchia is a rather old but charming establishment, offering rooms at an attractive price for the Italian Switzerland quite expensive in general. We had a three-bedroom with showers and toilets in the hallway (2 showers and 2 toilets for three upstairs rooms, no bumps...).

Nice, no way and ideally placed

A convenient location close to Grande Plaza.  Our twin bedded room on the first floor was a comfortable size for two, handbasin in the room, and shower and toilet across the hall.  Doubled glazed windows with shutters  overlooked a lane which was in the process of being cobbled, the lane led directly down to the Grande Plaza shopping and restaurants.  Walls were white, fresh painted, clean, colourful bedding made the room look bright and pleasant. Pillows were a little hard for our personal taste, feather doona was warm and fluffy. Breakfast was a small additional cost, fresh, adequate with cereals, cheeses, salami, croissants and breads, jams, coffee and tea if preferred.  Room was spotlessly clean as were the shared shower and toilet.  The shower recess was small, which we found to be normal in many Swiss and Italian accommodation. Owner was pleasant. The couple with which we travelled were also satisfied with their room on a floor located higher up.

A simple, clean pension, well priced for expensive Locarno

We stayed there for 1 night on new years. We were 7 people. The rooms were ok and clean. The price is a little bit high for what you get, but hey, it is switzerland after all. The owner was super friendly and took care of all our needs. I will definitely consider this hostel if i ever visit locarno again!

Very friendly owner and superb location!

The guesthouse is the cheapest one on booking.com so it's ideal for those who want to save money on visiting Locarno.The structure is however best furnished is the bed where I (unfortunately) slept had the mattress cover uncleaned (there was a woman's hair and it was generally dirty).The owner tends not to issue an invoice or issue one without serial number.

Economical but unwelcoming

Nice hostel, a few meters from Piazza Grande. I had a single hostel with laundry in the room and bathroom on the floor. To consider if you are interested in a base to see the city, or if you like me go to Locarno to experience the beautiful atmosphere of the Film Festival. Breakfast leaves a little to be desired, you pay only in cash (!) and considering the price/services ratio is certainly not an economical hostel... Unfortunately Switzerland, you know, is expensive! In compensation certainly relaxing.
