The owners are always there for you. Super friendly and always friendly. Very nice room - clean and extremely comfortable beds! Beautiful pool and the highlight is there tomorrow morning. I've been all over the world, but I've never had such fantastic bread!

Simply friendly and professional - highly recommended!

Good city hotel near the train station, friendly well-organized reception even if reception is not occupied. Clean newly renovated rooms with A/C good windows, noise stays outside, ideal for short city holidays. Good breakfast, small pool to turn off, disadvantage no parking blue zone, but has parking nearby

City hotel

The hotel is located in a very comfortable position for Lugano station and the city center. The room is spacious and has just the essentials, clean. The bathroom is very small and uncomfortable. There is no accessory in the bathroom.

Too expensive.

Due to the location of the train station and the price offer, I booked this hotel. When I arrived, everything was very friendly and the reception was very pleasant. The room is smaller than expected and also older. However, mostly clean and upgrading the big bed. The bathroom is also older, but with a low water pressure and without further problems. But what really bothered me then was the siege repairs, which lasted until 3:30 a.m. and took place 50m from my room. First the old siege was frosted (from 9 p.m.) and then installed with machines at midnight. The hotel can't do anything for this, but a hint or a price reduction would certainly be desirable.

Okay, but still disappointed.

The hotel is very centrally located about 5 minutes from the train station in a 30's zone. We had the rooms more positive we could get directly to our rooms without having to cross the whole hotel. Traffic noise is audible but not very disturbing. Rooms are sufficient for a short trip, beds are comfortable,1 of our 2 Zim. Had a small refrigerator. Bathroom unusual (feel like an airplane toilet) but was cleaned. Breakfast was directed to a table (then kept in a closet) 2 Croissant 4 loaves of bread, butter, cheese, salad, etc.

Small but fine.

Some of the rooms have been renovated, but the ones that have not yet been renovated are clean and well maintained (we were in a room that has not yet been renovated). In particular, the beds had very good mattresses from our point of view, but this is of course always a matter of consideration. The owners are very friendly, helpful and uncomplicated. A badly functioning shower course (it happens again and again) was immediately flushed through. Breakfast was prepared in accordance with corona love at the lot. The crowd was just right! The hotel is located 5 feet from the train station and is very centrally located in a rather quiet side street zone. (30 sure we will be back! P.S. Predictably from September or October 2021 the hotel will be closed for further renovations then.

Have a good time.

Just behind Lugano Station is the small Hotel Stella. We had the misfortune of being assigned a room on the ground floor, windows to the street, unattractive facilities. The ventilation of the plastic modular baths, probably from the 1980s, was so loud that the use of the bathroom by our roommates in the evening and until 2 a.m. was as loud as a vacuum cleaner. Service otherwise nice, breakfast ok, coffee good, beautiful garden.

Disappointing Room

Due to bad weather, we had to cancel our MTB tour and did not continue in Lugano that day. Almost everything was booked out - in addition, extremely high prices make this city not very inviting. The quiet and perfect location of the Stella near the railway station made us strand here. We were extremely friendlyly welcomed and hosted. The room itself was simple but relatively large, very clean and lovingly decorated. We felt comfortable. Breakfast is only available as a lunchpack in Corona times, but we left early and saved it. A point of discount due to the price (although for Lugano conditions is cheap).

The first friendly face in Lugano

Average. PROs: Comfy mattresses (doubles are 2 twins which unfortunately had the tendency to slide apart in middle), good location for those arriving on train, easy to get downtown, free cold water fountain in lobby, okay price for Lugano. CONs: Due to COVID, instead of offering breakfast in the charming garden, they gave vouchers for the coffee bar/nightclub next door. This was disappointing and not the pleasant start to each day we imagined (plus we’ve been avoiding indoor dining because of COVID). The garden seat cushions were dirty and soaking wet during our stay. The maid didn’t replace the soap or shampoo our whole stay, so we had just one little soap bar for several days. We would have asked, but the front reception desk isn’t staffed fulltime. There’s no parking, so you either pay 40+ at the station lot or park on the street overnight and move your car by 9am (a bummer and stress on vacation). Lastly, the vent for the standalone AC unit in our room was disconnected from the wall, so it spewed hot air into our room all night. It was 30 degrees when we woke at 5am because we couldn’t sleep any more in the heat. All in all, it just felt like they could be trying a bit harder to make the experience better. 

Positive reviews overhyped it for us

We stayed in this hotel for one night. When we arrived, in the afternoon, there was no one waiting for us in the hall. Room without refrigerator and equipped with a camper style bathroom. Air conditioning given a very noisy mobile device to prevent sleep at night. The only favourite point for this structure is the location, because it is very close to the center of Lugano.
