We had been there a long time ago and were very excited. So we decided to go back there on a special occasion. Unfortunately, we didn't know until then that there was a change of ownership. It was a pure disaster. First time we booked and there was no one to find. We looked everywhere for staff and then finally found someone on the terrace. Then when we got the menu, if you can tell us this menu menu, we wondered that there were other meals on my menu than at the man's. The menus didn't have much at all and were too expensive for what it was, and so we asked if there was almost no other menu. Then she finally explained the concept to us, and then we could tell everyone that there was nothing else on it. We could not have done anything fresh at all and we could not have done anything else. We went to this restaurant, and we wanted to have a lot of it, and we wanted to have it, and we could not have done anything else.

Absolutely not recommended

We booked for Mother's Day. Usually you expect to be received, you get your coat taken off, and you are accompanied to your reserved table. We didn't expect to. After about 30 minutes, we were asked for an Apero. Then it came. After about 30 minutes, we got to check the menu. It was actually 1 A 4 page. 3 pre-orders, 4 main courses (2 of which are hamburgers), 2 desserts. The search for saisers was unsuccessful, we really went to see fine sparkles. We didn't expect to. We had 2 girls and wanted to order their main course with our pre-orders. It didn't knock a lot of food. After 3.5 hours! We wanted to know how much we needed to eat at the local restaurant. We had to wait for a few hours to get a full meal and then we had to wait for a full meal (we had to book a restaurant, and then we had to wait for a full meal, and then we had to wait for a full meal, and then we had to wait for a full meal, and then we had to wait for a full meal,

Disastrous.

Late arrival was announced and confirmed by phone four hours earlier, emergency number was offline, had to drive home in the middle of the night, no apology from the hotel.

On December 23, 2018, we enjoyed our Christmas dinner with our family. We pre-ordered the meal by mail and phone. After the friendly reception we found a beautiful evening table decoration with candlesticks. The glass-clear glasses on the matching tablecloth with the clean white cloth dresses came to fruition so much more beautifully. The beautifully decorated Christmas tree finished our feast with extra bravour. Even for each person a beautifully furnished menu card, which was prepared for us through the lunch break. The beginning of the appetizer service was very, very, very well served by the staff. After the meeting of the staff, the pre-orders were placed. After a few minutes of conversation with Salad Beila, we enjoyed a lovely meal in a lovely dining room. Since the change of ownership in 2017, Böttstein Castle seems not to be working much anymore. Unfortunately, we had to feel this at our family festival. The service suffers from numerous personnel changes and is absolutely no longer what it used to be. The staff is shabby dressed and heillos overwhelmed, you have to take care of order yourself (absolutely shabby care of the entire plant) and the food is far from the usual gourmet kitchen from earlier times of Böttstein Castle and this is still at more expensive prices! The location itself would be really nice, but at the moment the new owner does not seem to have very much to handle. Very very very bad and unfortunately as a fixed place is not recommended anymore.

Big Disappointment as a Festival Location

The hotel is very nice, the rooms ok, breakfast quite good - homemade marmolade superb. I really enjoyed dinner and THESE brownies ❤️. The rooms are not very spacious and mine had very small widows. Generally the hotel is very pleasant to stay. The staff is very friendly. The prices at the bar, for Switzerland, are not so high (large beer 6CHF).

I spent a week in the vicinity of the Paul Sherrer Institute, a small, well-maintained palace with a beautiful, well-maintained church with 17th-century frescoes and stuccoes, set high on the banks of the river where you can see the atomic power station just below, a strategic point to visit from Bruges to Shaffusa Falls.

Quiet, quiet and good cooking

A real castle turned into a hotel! Very beautiful, splendid decoration! Great service! Very good breakfast! Michelin starred restaurant. It's worth the experience of staying in a castle! I recommend to anyone staying in Switzerland.

There is a bus stop in front of this hotel located at 25 min walking distance from the PSI research centre.

The staff is very polite and always willing to help. Everything is clean, from the bedroom to the corridors or the kitchens. The breakfast is simple but good and served in a room with space. The free Wi-Fi was operational in my room.

To summarise, this is a charming place and you feel very welcome. I’ve just regretted to be waken up at night by the bells of the neighbouring church.


A very pleasant place to stay 

I stayed two nights in this facility for work. Breakfast enough, dinner discreet: for this last departure with very low expectations and I was surprised by the positive. The staff was quite available. The room was spacious and quiet, comfortable beds but only the heating of the bathroom was controllable. The latter was disappointing: it wasn't perfectly clean and next to the tub had an unshaded window that looked outwards (ok that outside there is the nuclear plant and little else, but a little more privacy while Mancia showered).
