LOCATION: Hotel JAKOB is conveniently located at Hauptplatz 11, right at the foot of Schloss Rapperswil on the main square.  The famed rose gardens, Lindenhof deer park and boat pier are all easily accessible on foot from here.

Rapperswil train station is a quick 3-min walk away.  When you exit the station, just cross the road and go down the street towards the Old Town until you see the fountain and dual flights of steps leading up to the imposing castle.  Hotel JAKOB is on the right, a pale grey building with maroon shutters.

ROOM: clean and spacious Single Room simply furnished with a bed; luggage rack; wall-mounted TV; work desk and chair.  In lieu of a proper wardrobe, there’s an open-shelving unit with hangers and a small safe deposit box.

Some rooms like mine face the side wall of adjacent building and the windows directly opposite look straight into my room - had to keep curtains drawn throughout stay.  If privacy is an issue, you may wish to request for front-facing rooms but those might be noisier.

Being situated in the bustling town square means a fair bit of noise, especially on mornings when they have a farmers’ market right outside and on weekends when crowds gather till late.  Moreover, there’s a church nearby whose bells toll every 15 minutes (regardless of day or night) so bring ear plugs if you are a light sleeper.

BATHROOM: ensuite bathroom was clean and well-lit; furnished with the usual mirror above wash basin, shower stall and toilet.  There was consistent flow of hot water and adequate water pressure.  Soap dispensers are installed at the sink and in the shower.  Hairdryer and disposable slippers are provided too.

F&B: room rate was inclusive of daily breakfast. There was a good spread comprising of bread & croissants with jams & butter; milk & cereals; assorted cheese & yoghurts; cold cuts; fruits & juices; coffee & tea.  

On-site Restaurant serves regional cuisine and prides itself on offering both home-style cooking and sophisticated fare prepared with seasonal fresh ingredients.  If you choose to dine out, there are many F&B options within the Old Town and by the lake.

SERVICE: Room Reservation, Check-In & Out all proceeded smoothly. The Front Desk staff is multilingual and fluent in English. She was patient and helpful with providing sightseeing and travel info.

FACILITIES: there’s a Lift which saves you the hassle of lugging your bags up & down several flights of stairs.  Rooms are equipped with Air-Conditioning which comes in handy during the summer heatwave.  Free WiFi is available too.

In SHORT:  Rapperswil does not have that many accommodation options and Hotel JAKOB is a decent choice offering clean & functional rooms right in the heart of its picturesque Old Town.

While the rooms are simple, they are well kept and very clean. The WiFi and air conditioning work well.  Breakfast is included and it is delicious. Fresh bread -- still warm -- and croissants, overnight oatmeal, granola, yogurt, fruit. And if course coffee or your favorite tea. The woman managing the breakfast remembers what you like and remembers your room number. Staff are very accommodating.

The area is full of restaurants, including the Jakob, and the setting is appealing. You'll need dinner reservations on weekends. This is an easy walk to the castle, the train station, the lake and ferris wheel, and to a few good places to get house made ice cream cones to eat while you stroll through the village.

The hotel has no parking, but the public car park (14 FrS at night) is only a hundred metres away. The reception is smiling, the staff is available. Our nice room, facing the main square of the pedestrian zone. Very quiet. The hotel is very well placed to visit the heart of the city, but also the lakefront area. The hotel also has a restaurant (which we have not tested).

Nice restaurant in a lovely old town. We took seafood pasta and Poke bowls and enjoyed the sun on the terrace. All our lunches were very tasty. My poke bowl with tofu was my favorite! The staff was very busy and working hard. Please visit also the surroundings.

The JAKOB is a small, charming and unforgettable hotel in a beautiful location. It is located in the main square, just below the historic Rapperswil Castle, in the car-free old town. The location is surrounded by beautiful craft houses and away from the hustle and bustle of the seafront, idyllic and picturesque. Simple NOTE! A PERLE! The ambience is modern, the interior is unforgettable and therefore very appealing. The rooms are very clean, functional and tastefully furnished. The hotel's own restaurant with its own dedicated bar is a perfectly private, very professional staff! The kitchen is perfectly furnished with a family-friendly, refined, delicious and delicious staff.

The Hotel Jacob, a Pearl on the Lake of Zurich

We were on a Saturday on the terrace of Jacob and wanted breakfast. For 35-- you get at the buffet: 2 kinds of bread, top, 2 kinds of cheese, 2 kinds of ham, muesli, confectionery, honey and fruit. No eggs, no bacon and no choice.

It's a quiet hotel, centrally located. It's a rich breakfast. It's an autumn market all over the village. It's a modern room. It's very friendly and helpful.

Velocity

The Jakob is located just below the Rapperswil Castle on the main square. Despite the central location and our room windows with the splendid view of the square and the side of the castle, we were able to sleep with the windows open without any noise. The rooms are spacious and nicely renovated, the bathrooms would certainly have had potential for improvement. The breakfast is rich, regional and very fine. All in all, a highly recommended hotel!

A pleasant, quiet hotel

We stayed here for one night and found the place very nice. Check in was easy, the room was clean and the view of the old town very nice. Location is great and the breakfast was good, all in all a very nice experience and I would definjtely recommend this place to other travellers.

great location, very nice

We're on our way to Jacob's Road for the Corona season, and we're staying at Hotel Jakob, which fortunately opened during that time as well. We're welcomed and welcomed. Our room to the main square is extremely tasty and totally quiet in this time of crisis, as there are hardly any people on the road. At breakfast we're the only guests and our food is beautifully prepared when we arrive. It's versatile and tastes great; the eggs are prepared. Happy and perfectly satisfied, we're on our way and hopefully we can be guests at the Hotel Jakob again in more normal times.
