Full marks for the service. The check-in experience was great. I was provided early checkin and the person at the reception was very warm and helpful. 
The room was good. Amenities provided are basic. The buffet breakfast (chargeable) was good too.
They were very prompt to address all my queries before arrival. 
Located 15 mins from OST, there is a bus every 30 mins.
The village is beautiful for walks

Enjoyed our 2-days stay

We were staying in the oldest part of the hotel, however equipped with an elevator. The room was rather spacious, without air conditioning, but equipped with a table fan, indispensable in summer. A small bathroom and a little to review. Good breakfast. Free parking at the back of the structure. The choice was made according to the price, competitive compared to the star quotations of Interlaken. Staff available.

Solution for Interlaken

Staff did not make up our room, we merely asked for a fresh towel, shower gel and bottled water. It wasn't even a complaint! The lady staff who couldn't speak English, passed 2 towels to me unwillingly, finished saying what she wanted to say in her own language without bothering to listen to what I as the customer wanted to say. Insisted they had done their room checking thoroughly and talked down to us as if we were liars wanted to make life difficult for them to make up our room again, even after I invited her to view our room. Please be extremely cautious when making payment in cash and ensure they return you the correct balance in change. I gave the restaurant man who has presbyopia a red color CHF20 note, he claimed that I gave a yellow color CHF10 note. I am not blind, able to differentiate colors and numbers. I shivered at the thought of what if I had given him a CHF100 note. The cocky guy was looking elsewhere and seemed uninterested when we were talking to him, I assumed he didn't think this was considered rudeness to us. It really does make us wonder whether it was because we questioned the room not being made up that's why they pulled such a stun on us. Eventually, the big boss returned my money which I was appreciative of that, but he made it a point that it was as a gesture of goodwill. This does not mean that they admit they made a mistake because there was no CCTV and no evidence. As we are Asian women foreigners, for our safety priority, we tried to be as amicable as possible. This is the worst hospitality hotel I've ever stayed in. Doesn't deserve even a 1-star rating. Not only were they unfriendly, they were in fact hostile to us. Perhaps we are not familiar with their culture, but that was not the way to treat paying guests. Hotel staff could have handled guests' problems in a more professional way. What a shame I encountered this incident and it had totally ruined the good impression I had of this beautiful country.

Worst Hotel

After a walk of about 25 km, we reached the bear. The reception was not easy to find. The reception was a bit cool. After we had finished the formalities and had a cool good beer, we booked the two bedrooms. My room was neatly cleaned, clean and size-appropriate. What irritated me was the smell of fries that was getting in my nose. The room was probably right over the kitchen. After a short rest we went to dinner. The waiter showed us the way to the small, hospitable dining room. We placed the order. 2nd Rinds 09cote and Pommy Fresh Fruits. The breakfast menu was very nice. I was very impressed. I was very impressed with the quality of the breakfast and the breakfast. I was still very happy to get a little room. The hotel was very nice. I was very happy to have a nice breakfast. The room was very nice. I was still in the room with a very nice room. The room was very nice. I was very happy to have a nice room. The room was very nice. I was very happy to have a nice room with a small bed and the quality of the wine

It's good to be back.

The bear burgers are just the hammer. The service is always friendly and in a good mood. Can only be further recommended. Ambience is modern and redesigned. If you want it to be quiet, you can go to a separate area and enjoy a decent dinner.

We were booked in here as part of an organised tour.

Beforehand we were told that although the building was old, that it would be a memorable hotel for us.  They said it would feel like we were visiting grandma's house... Not modern amenities, but the atmosphere warm & friendly. 
We were looking forward to a real "homely feel" and cooked food.

On arrival, we had to fit all the luggage into a very tiny elevator.  This already caused a backlog. And guests had to walk through the front door, through the bar area to Reception to collect the room keys. As we only arrived late afternoon, the patrons who were seated in the bar, already had been there a while.

During dinner, we were all seated (which felt like a school hall) with dusty dated decor, furniture and fittings. But even this we didn't mind too much. We were tired and hungry!

Then my 17-year old daughter went to get a rag cloth to clean a soft drink spillage, and was directed to the bar area.  She went and asked and was harassed by a local patron who invited her to join him and his friends.  And he made inappropriate remarks.  She immediately left the bar area and informed us of the incident. 
Later in the evening both she and a friend went to the ladies room.  And after a while both returned to the restaurant in a state of shock and tears.  The same "gentleman" of the bar, tried to push his way into the ladies room where they were.  The girls then both leaned against the door to keep him out.  He tried numerous times to gain access!
When reporting it - the owner apologized - and that was the end of it.  All the men in our tour group went looking for him, but there is an access door where he had fled from.
Needless to say, this was a huge anticlimax to our last day of 2019.  We as a family retired to our rooms.  But both our girls were so petrified, that they had also slept in our room.  This meant that 4 people shared a very small room. 

The room:  very tiny, short beds, uncomfortable pillows.  
The bathroom: sloped roof, tiny shower - and we barely had luke warm water.
Wifi: Not stable and reconnects onto different routers on different floors.

Next morning during breakfast ( bread rolls, yoghurt, cold meat and cheese) the owner took down our contact details as she wanted to report it to the police and they would want to speak to us.  (They knew who this person is as he is a regular patron to the bar).
She also said that they he was banned from their bar. (I really feel that the owner / management should've done more and called the police that night already, and they only said they were going to report to the police to make us feel better in staying there another night). Nobody has phoned us or contacted us again.

This is unacceptable to not feel safe at a hotel. And having your kids on a European tour asking to rather just cut the holiday short and return back home, is not what anyone of us had envisioned.  (The question remains what would've happened if this man followed a girl to the restroom? What will happen if he traps a single girl in a restroom? And Management were warned of this known client?)

Staying at a hotel with little to no warm water, not feeling safe, and without room service (our rooms weren't serviced or beds made) for an international group of people should not be.  I don't want to visit a place like my "grandmother's" house, I want to feel like a valued guest.

Although this hotel is close to bus stop which makes public transport easy and a convenience store across this road, it is not on par with other establishments.

I would most definitely NOT recommend this hotel & bar, and definitely stay away if you have kids
This was the worst experience and stay.

Outdated, dusty hotel & amenities

Stayed two nights as part of a tour group. Hotel is quite dated. Lifts are small but whatever, use the stairs it is good for you. Beds were uncomfortable pillows included. Food was not very good. Breakfast was unremarkable. Staff was efficient, pleasant and courteous. Location is very good close to the bus stop for Interlakken.

Average Sums It Up

I recently stayed here as part of an escorted Europe tour. The hotel was clean and in a classic Swiss style. Close to bus stop for Interlaken. Town was very pretty. The ladies who ran it were lovely and catered for my coeliac disease. With over 30 people to cater for I was very impressed. The view from my room was outstanding. Would like to go back.

Great views

Such a poor price-performance ratio can only be afforded by hotels in locations where daytime tourists are drawn in crowds. The room was underground, no nighttime lights, no soap and the TV sometime in 1985. At least it was clean. The breakfast buffet was characterized by unidentifiable jams, pappy bread and pineapple fruit from the can, with the high point being SFr 1.50 per egg that is really no longer to be surpassed. And the whole arrangement for sloppy 260...

Overpriced and decreased

We ended up here because our original booking at another hotel was cancelled on the day. Turned out to be one of the best hotel stays we had on our trip through Austria and Switzerland. Our hostess, Marinka, was so helpful and made us extremely welcome. In fact all of the staff were amazing. Great atmosphere, great food, great service. Free on site parking. Just a short drive into Interlaken.
