we just came back from a short stay at L'Atelier d'En Bas, and although its not easy to find it at the beginning, when you arrive, check in, and you are shown the room, you are just mesmerised by the attention to detail the lady of the house, puts in all her efforts....not to forget her friendly and busy husband.

Our room was so lovely.....it was full of teddy bears of different sizes and types.....the bed was very comfy and the whole place have remained very faithful of the mountain traditions.....you will also find interested paintings hung on the wall, which, she told us, were also for sale, if we wished to.

We did not have dinner there, because their restaurant was fully booked, but we did have a lovely breakfast.....

This place is extremely looked after, and very lovely to spend the weekend at.....

my girlfriend chose this place, but I can tell you we were both very happy with the end result.....

The owner told us she is preparing some events for Christmas time, and we were all ears...because we want to go again.

.....to put it in a few words, we thought we were staying in dream room for a couple of days.

Stay in a Dream Boutique Hotel

L'Atelier d'en Bas is a small (3 bedroom), remote family run, chalet bed and breakfast with a thriving restaurant trade.  It's sited approx 3km from Chateau d'Oex.  We were with friends visiting our other friends in the area,  so the location was not a problem for us.  Both rooms were very large, more like a suite, modern, yet inkeeping with the Swiss tradition and spotlessly clean.  The bed was like the room - large and comfortable.  For breakfast home made preserves, large supply of breads/pastries  and a never ending supply of tea and coffee, all served by a jolly, friendly host.  The 15 seater restaurant, we were informed as we did not eat there, has 3 fixed price menus and you select which price you want to pay. You then tell the chef what you do not like and he will cook what he wants to cook for you from all the fresh, local and seasonal produce. We would most certainly stay again would and recommend it.  Although it is not cheap, we feel that you do get quality and value for money.
