Haus Shangri-La is a modern chalet very close to the edge of the piste in Saas Fee, in good snow conditions it is definately ski in ski out.

On arrival in Saas fee we left our car at the underground parking (Saas Fee is car free) and caught an electric taxi to the aprtment. Pricy at CHF35! Interesting that it was only CHF25 on the way back....

We stayed in a 1st Floor Apartment - Fletschhorn. I was a little unclear about what happened once we arrived, but we found the key in the door and a post it note on the door with our name so we worked it out! The owner had left an envelope on the table with a sheet of information and our vouchers for the lift passes we had pre-booked.

The apartment is very clean and modern. Two bedrooms with double beds, one with en-suite and a family bathroom. Underfloor heating is a nice touch too. The lounge area has a TV and DVD player. WiFi password was given to us on arrival in the information sheet.

My only critisisms would be firstly that the sofas are VERY uncomfortable! Secondly the kitchen is lacking a few essentials for a week of self catering. Some weighing scales, a stick blender, cake tin and a few basic essentials would be a huge bonus. Having to go out and buy condiments, foil, olive oil etc etc was a nuisance. Other aprtments we have stayed in have always had the basics. Thirdly Fletschhorn is directly above the boot room so you do get a lot of clattering.

Groceries in Switzerland are hugely more exepnsive than France or UK. Given the ease of parking and transportation to the apartment I would highly recommend doing a shop in France on the way! There is a small frezzer compartment in the fridge. For example one chicken breast in Saas Fee is CHF8! I wish that I had taken a cool bag and bought meat in France. Orange Juice is CHF6 rather than 1 Euro in France. The restaurants are all very expensive so self catering is ideal.

I would recommend Haus Shangri-La, the location is superb and the apartment was very well suited to our needs. There is a boot rooms with heated boot rack and a small jacuzzi room. There is also a lift which was helpful when we were moving the massive amount of luggage!

Superb location and a pleasant self catering apartment

The Shangri-La apartments are modern, very well equipped, spacious and very conveniently located to the best restaurants and bars in the village and a 1 minute walk from the ski-slope.  Moreover, it offers a wellness equipped with a whirlpool, sauna, lounge chairs and a shower which each apartment can reserve for 1 hour at a time. For the geeks, free internet wifi works well and is fast.  Definitely a place to return to.

First class apartments conveniently located in town and next to the slopes

Nice located near the slopes. You can ski and end just across the street. Apartments are well equipped. Lifts are at walking/ skiing distance. Building has a wellness, skiroom and elevator. Apartment had two bathrooms and floor heating.  

Saas-Fee is a beautiful town. No cars allowed so white and scenic in winter. Not a very big ski resort, but therefore more relaxed and comfortable.

Great accommodation!

We spend our 2012 ski vacation in Saas Fee. The Shangri La is quite well located, second "row" from the beginners slopes. When there is enough snow you can get home with your skis on your feet..
The appartment was nicely furnished and  very tidy, the kitchen area well equipped. The bedrooms were rather small, you can just walk around the bed, two bath rooms, one with shower, the other one with bathtub.
The house has a pleasant wellness area in the basement, you have to book it in advance for your family.
Many good things, but serious disappointment about other things that did not work, i.e. the dishwasher, the heater-dryer for the towels, issues with the ethernet connection. Too bad that the owner did not really care other than complain about the costs for repair.(Of course we had to pay the full price).
All in all, a good place, but not worth 5 stars. We have had better experience in Saas Fee.

Nice place, did not meet expectation

We booked to stay here as a family trip in late April. We were greeted by the owner and take. To our apartment in the building. We were very impressed: good sized rooms, all light and airy, and spotlessly clean. The kitchen was well equipped with hob, oven, fridge, dishwasher. There is a family bathroom with bath and shower and one of the bedrooms has en-suite facilities. The whole place has under floor heating and was always perfectly warm. The location is superb, very close to the Boccalino pizza restaurant and the Felix ski hire shop, plus I expect you can ski back to the door in full winter.

There is a wellness centre in the building which we didn't try.

All in all we highly recommend it.

Superb accommodation, perfect location.

The apartment we stayed in was fantastic - plenty of space for two people, modern furnishings, good little kitchen and wood fired stove. Our apartment was on the bottom level, which was the cheapest - the ones higher up have slightly larger layouts I think. The apartment block has a sauna/spa that you can book by the hour, and seeing as there aren't many apartments this wasn't a problem. There is also a ski room with heated boot holders. The location is off the main road, and a 10 minute walk to the beginner's slopes and lifts (easier past the apartments across the way rather than by the main st).

Saas Fee itself was a wonderful destination - no cars allowed and traditional buildings in a scenic valley. Even in winter there are excellent walks on the mountains for those who don't ski. There was no problem with queues at ski lifts. There are 3 supermarkets if you want to cook at home, and plenty of bars and restaurants if not. Highly recommended.
