We stayed here after a long trek on the haute route. The hotel has a great, quiet location with spectacular views from the terrace and good food. The hosts were very welcoming and shared a recipe with us for a local tart, highly recommend

Great views, good food and a friendly host

Hotel, spacious 1970s single room very well for a short stay frequented mainly by hikers, mountaineers the view of room 11 with its large balcony is magnificent on the mountain and its glacier, the village is a haven of peace for nature lovers, the site is exceptional with its pastoral activity. Breakfast is a little light could be improved.

A little "tired", other than accommodation not many other amenities. Dinner available a short 100m walk thru the village.

All the fundamentals were there....

We booked this place in a very last minute as we decided to spent New Years in around Zermatt, and this was the only place having free rooms at a reasonable price in the area. Since we were in different part of the country and travelling by car it was not a problem to drive to Taesch/Zermatt. We arrived quite late on New Years Eve, and we collected room keys from the nearby restaurant. The place was very quiet, even on a New Years Eve. The rooms (we were group of 4, 2 couples occupying 2 rooms) were quite spacious. One room had a bath and another room had a shower (without a shower curtain). Beds were comfy. 
We woke up at the dawn on New Years day, and looking by the windows the view was absolutely stunning - great mountains and peace and quiet. The breakfast was okay, typical breakfast with selection of cheese, ham, jam, nutella etc and freshly very tasty baked bread. We were able to get some hot water to make a tea into the flask. 
In overall we spent only few hours in this hotel, but it is a pleasant hotel and i hope we will be able to visit it again.

Nice place with great views

We decided to stay in Gasenried on the Haute Route, to be ready for the start of the Europaweg next morning. If you like somewhere bigger and more lively, stay in Grächen instead, but Gasenried was perfect for us and I would recommend the Alpenrösli to anyone. There is a spacious and comfortable terrace where you can sit in the sun and enjoy a beer and the mountain views. The host is clearly a keen cook and the food is great. Dinner was soup, a chicken savoury on a split toasted bun, and rosti with sausage. No dessert, which was a surprise, but we didn't have room anyway. The breakfast was magnificent, by far the best on the whole trek, with cereals, a large array of very fresh pastries,breads and rolls, including hot croissants with almond filling, cheese, meats, boiled eggs, fresh coffee etc etc. We didn't need any lunch! I would recommend getting a room if you can afford it. We had the dormitory to ourselves, which was the only plus point I can give it:  it has definitely seen better days, is a bit grubby and is strangely situated in the basement, through another room piled up with what appears to be the contents of another establishment. I have taken off a star for that, but otherwise we loved this place and would definitely choose it again.

Many reasons to stay here

I stayed in the Alpenrosli after it was recommended to us. We took the bus from St Niklaus which stopped very near - which we were grateful for. The excellent and friendly host showed us to a room with an excellent view of the Reid glacier and was fine for us with double bed and ensuite shower room. We very much enjoyed sitting on the terrace in the strong September sun having a cold beer before walking up the road to check on the route for the next morning. We booked demi pension and were given an excellent supper of soup (home made) then rosti mit ei und speck - followed by a dessert. This was all very good value. We slept well despite a thunderstorm and were given a very good breakfast the next morning which set us up well for the Europaweg. We would strongly recommend this good hotel.

A great place to stay for the Haute Route

Located in Gasenried, 2 km from Niedergrächen, on the road to the village of Grächen, this establishment offers several good points... The mountain view is magnificent, and the hotel is 30 m from the post bus stop (although it is easily accessible on foot from Niedergrächen). The room was clean, heated, equipped with a sink, with towels and many samples of frost and shampoo. The shower and toilets were common to other rooms, but the set was very clean. The receptionist is charming, useful and a little angular.

Good value for money...

We were well into our trek on the Haute Route and took a bus the last 15 minutes from St Niklaus to this small village, high on the side of the mountain.  It is a beautiful setting, with a glacier in the backgound, overlooking a beautiful, verdant valley.  The hotel is perfectly adequate but wasn't too clean. There were 5 of us and, unlike many places we have stayed along the trek (hostels, pensiones), this is an actual hotel with individual en suite rooms.  I had hair in the bathtub but it was still nice to have a private bath.  A little cleaning and extra thought would do wonders for this place.  We had a really cool bartender/cook so we ate there (pork steak and pumpkin soup...yummy) and drank a few beers.  It was fun but the place needs a little TLC

A good place to stay

Stage of the round of the Deer Welcome Sympathetic, the dormitory is spacious. There are a few showers missing but we were offered access with other donations no worries. The buffet lunch is fine and in the evening we ate on the card, the whole team was delighted.

In August we were doing the Monte Rosa tour and we stayed on August 18 in a kind of hostel that this hotel has.The room has 12 bedrooms, there is a shower for everyone.It's cutter and ugly.The worst thing has been the treatment we've received from the people who run it.I don't understand how they still have customers.Nothing to do with the idyllic idea of that country, which cares so much about its exterior appearance!!!
