It was nice to stay in a quiet two-room hotel rather than a larger hotel filled with tour bus groups. Our room was large, clean and very comfortable. The hotel is centrally located in Twann, within a few minutes’ walk of the train station, Lake Biel, and the vineyards at the edge of the village.  Our beef stroganoff and fish dinners at the Restaurant zum Alten Schweizer were excellent. The wine soup was particularly notable.  Breakfast was the typical Swiss breakfast of croissants, cheese, etc.
Twann is a very interesting town. It has a rich history starting well before the Romans brought grape vines to the area. Most of the vineyards are only 5 to 10 acres. We were there one week before harvest. Based on the many residents preparing equipment, it appears the street level garages double as grape processing areas during the harvest. We enjoyed walks to the vineyards, through town and along the lake promenade. The town seems to be off the usual route for English-speaking tourists, which was fine for us. I don’t recall seeing any signs in English. The signage was in French and German. Oh yeah, the wine was great.

Why stay at a larger hotel when you have the Hotel Alten Schweizer?

Our private bathroom was in the hallway, only 2 metres from the room. The room was spacious and brighter than the photos suggested, as well as the bathroom was extremely clean. Breakfast included (gilltop, walk-in, bread, hard and soft cheese, ham, salami, jam, yogurt, o- juice, hot drink). We were able to get the room as early as 10:00 a.m. We stopped by car directly at the hotel and received the room and parking keys uncomplicated. The place is about 150 metres from the hotel. The staff is always free, not overwhelming and very easy to come back.

Quiet and central

Located in the old village of Twann, the Old Swiss is a sure value for enjoying fresh market-quality seafood in high quality and various types of preparation (even in smaller portions). The lightning-clean and cozy restaurant invites you to stay longer. Prices are moderate, the quality of the kitchen is above average. Heavy fish and seafood. The Curovic family and their team are extremely friendly but also efficient hosts.

A safe 'fish value' at Lake Bieler

So, as I was saying, there was no radio or TV, and because it was raining the day I went there, I couldn't get out, so there wasn't much outdoor activity to see.

This hotel is located in the wine-growing landscape of Twann-Tuscherz (located in Italian) on the northern edge of Lake Bienne, in the canton of Bern, the furnishings are very spacious, with a large spacious bathroom and shower. Almost free of charge. The hotel in question (+41323151161) is operated by the Curovic-Rosselet Family, a few very comfortable bedrooms only on the 2nd floor, with no elevator, of an old house with large wooden structures in sight, the furnishings are very spacious, with a large spacious bathroom and shower. The most pleasant thing is the quietness of the environment because the Dorfgasse street is always served by a pair of sidewalks of the French motorway A5 (La Bienne/La Bienne) which is a black and white tableware dish prepared by the Swiss guinea pigs. It's never too late. There's good wine in the little cabin.

We stayed one night in this hotel. The rooms are on the top floor of the building above the restaurant. The reception was very warm but the rooms are far from the great comfort you can get in a large chain hotel. The hotel is, however, very well located in the heart of the village. If the price was lower it could be a good alternative but the rates are worthy of Switzerland. On the other hand, the restaurant was fabulous!

Nice hotel in Twann

We felt welcome and appreciated as guests from the moment we walked into the restaurant. The hotel is clean and the owners and staff very friendly and helpful. It's not high season and the weather was awful so there won't many people to be seen during our stay but we still enjoyed it very much. Twann is pedestrian, but you can park in front of the hotel to unload your baggage and they ave a special parking space in the car park a couple of metres down the road. The breakfast was aboslutely adequate.
