Food, quality two stars.
Serving speed five stars.
Prices in relation to food quality, one star. It’s crazy to pay 6.50 for 1 lt of tapwater. Even more crazy was the price for 1.5 L of non-branded iced tea (14.-)!
The food wasn’t acceptable comparing to the high prices. They wanted 32.50 for a vegetarian burger including sloppy and soft fries.

Bad impression at berggasthaus oberdorf, wildhaus

After a hard day work and on the way home, we decided to check this place out! Nice ambiente, and most locals! the cards offers a small variety at very above average prices. Service is good, but location in a living area might be difficult.

Good but very pricy

We - a family of 10 traveling from Holland, Sweden and Australia to celebrate grandpa's 75th birtday - spent 3 nights at Berggasthaus Oberdorf. Traveling from Zurich Airport took 3 trains and a bus, but all went puntually according to a swiss clock. We had a 2-bedroom with private bathroom, a 4-bedroom and a 8-bedroom with shared bathrooms in the corridor. Rooms were spatious and very clean, albeit a bit spartan. Bathrooms were also very clean and modern, with very good showers. The whole hotel was newly renovated and very clean. We had the luxury of being there off-season, so happened to have the whole corridor, bathrooms and even dining/breakfast room to ourselves 2 out of 3 nights. The staff was very friendly and went out of their way to make us comfortable. The dining room panorama offers magnificient and constantly changing views on the Säntis, while the large outdoor terrace faces the south and skiing slopes. Our kids (between 9 and 13) spent most of the time on the playing ground just below the terrace. Food was simple but well-prepared, and the hotel had a very good selection of beers and wines. The surroundings are great for hiking and day trips to various surrounding peaks that can also be accessed by cable car. The 'Klangweg' is perfectly doable for young kids as well as elderly. Berggasthaus Oberdorf, struck us as a family-friendly accommodation probably offering great skiing wintertime, and can imagine that it will be quite crowded then. All in all we had a fantastic weekend, not least do to the great weather we happened to have, and we highly recommend Berggasthaus Oberdorf, which is to Swiss standards also quite reasonable priced.

Clean, friendly & great location

Everything looks quite new and clean and it's located right at the first stop of the lift coming up from Wildhaus. So you can start skiing as soon as you leave the house.
As we arrived late and the lifts weren't running anymore they provided a shuttle to bring us up.
The food was good and we spent a good time up here.

Sleep on the slopes

We went skiing in Wildhaus and stopped at this restaurant mountain top several times during the day. The service was friendly very friendly for Switzerland but not really very efficient. I believe it was not the staffs fault, there were many of them. It seems the strange organisation of the service staff that was the real issue. Some staff were allowed to take orders via remote order pad others could not, they only delivered food and drinks. Guess how many times these were asked to take an order? Countless on the busy day we were there. This created a certain amount of frustration with the staff and customers alike.
The food itself was very tasty and good and fast. But the size of the portion for what you pay for was very small, the price expensive, hey that's Switzerland I guess, in Austria you get more food on the plate same quality but half the price.
The details were horrible in this place.
First the terrace was furnished with wooden tables and benches all very in loving no blankets available etc. 
No music no fun just plain old boring.
The steps (metal) leading from the outside of the building from the ski shop up to the restaurant was full of iced up snow. All day long... Making the steps useless as it became a slide with intermittent hard metal edges in between. Nobody came with a shovel to clear the steps of Ice and snow. Lousy service.
The terrace exit in to the restaurant was very icy and slippery nobody did anything about it. Amazing.
If you have tzo eat ok but better bring your own sandwiches, we will next time.

Friendly yes good yes but expensive and lacking details

This is where the kids and I have lunch on a skiing day. Efficient staff and straight forward 'slope-food' which comes with the same quality day after day after day. Crispy fries, a to-die-for Toggenburger Gerstensuppe, fresh salads and one of the best Schlorziflade. Nothing more than easy and honest food - and nothing less.
