Great apartment with stunning Matterhorn view. Well laid-out, feels homely and comfortable, quiet, and in a good location (5 minute walk to Matterhorn Express and frequent bus to town centre, which is only an enjoyable 15-minute walk away). Super nice and helpful hosts. Large private ski room. Highly recommended!

Great and comfy apartment

Third time staying at Haus Anita since 2018, hosted by Diana P. We keep coming back w friends and family because the apartments are great and location perfect with closeness to Talstation. 
Spacious rooms, great mountain views, near electric bus stations.
We will come back again in the coming years!

Great accomodation for Ski and hiking  vacation

We have just returned from a week's stay in the three bedroomed ground floor apartment of Haus Anita. My husband and I went with another couple, so we had plenty room. 
Diana, one of the owners, was so helpful from the moment we enquiried about booking. She met us when we arrived, which was on the red line bus that we caught from the train station.  This dropped us at the Kappelle bus stop which is just a short walk from Haus Anita. The buses run every ten minutes or so during the day. This is free with a lift pass or 3.20 chf. 
The apartment has the most amazing view of the Matterhorn. You can sit and enjoy this from the lounge, patio or hot tub. The hot tub is for the sole use of the ground floor apartment only and is certainly a welcome asset after a hard day skiing. 
The apartment was very warm throughout our stay, even with most of the radiators turned down. It was simply decorated but very homely. The beds were very comfy. One of the showers was broken but as there were two bathrooms, this was not a problem. 
The kitchen was extremely well equipped with plenty cooking equipment and utensils. There is a hob, oven, microwave, kettle, toaster and coffee machine. There is also a dishwasher which is a luxury in a rental place. There are a couple of restaurants close to the house, but we ate in all the time so can't comment on what they're like. 
There are three supermarkets in town and have the usual swiss prices ;)
Although there is a ski room in the basement, we chose to rent lockers at Dorsaz Sport / Intersport which were 35 chf booked online. This is a five minute walk down a very steep hill and right next to the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise gondola station. This worked really well, as it saved us having to carry skis up the hill in an evening. 
It is obviously very convenient to get to the Klein Matterhorn, Cervinia and Schwarsee areas via the nearest lift station, but it is also very easy to reach the Gornergrat railway and Sunnegga lift by catching the red or green line buses. 
The ski area is just outstanding with fabulous lifts and well groomed pistes. 
We would go back to Zermatt at the drop of a hat and would absolutely look to stay at Haus Anita again, for it's great location and home from home feel.

Simply a wonderful place to stay

Lovely apartments with lovely view or Matterhorn. We stayed in the 3-bedroom and enjoyed the jacuzzi and enjoyed the access to the lifts. Diana also kindly helped us when we forgot something and shipped it to us. Can't beat that!

Anita Haus

We spent a week at Chalet Anita in Winkelmatten with our family and celebrated Christmas 2014 - a party of 12 people. It was just spot on! And the perfect place to be.  Our chalet host Diana was so lovely from the first meeting to the last goodbye. She also had been so helpful month ahead of time with the planning of our trip, and making recommendations. She organized our transfers to Zermatt from the Zurich airport. She is very meticulous, detail oriented and has a wonderful sense of hospitality (provided fresh home baked cakes and pastries as a welcome gift).    

The two apartments were great and the views from the balconies facing the Matterhorn were stunning! Well equipped, clean and tidy with enough storage space and 2 wood burning fireplaces. Beds are comfortable and linens are good quality. There was a ski room as well an outdoor Jacuzzi in the summer. The Matterhorn glacier ski lift is conveniently located about 200-300 meters away from House Anita, with ski equipment rental places nearby. Be aware it is up a steep hill on the way home and from the Village, but a great exercise and very accessible.  

Fantastic week in one of the most beautiful places on earth. Can’t wait to go back!!

Chalet Anita - your home away from home in Zermatt, Switzerland

We loved our stay in Chalet Anita. We were a group of 5 families with varying ages of children from 3-15years old. We were spread over 2 floors in different apartments and the chalet fitted perfectly for our needs. Kitchens were well equipped, everywhere was lovely and clean and living space perfect for families to enjoy drinks and meals together, along with the hot tub which was a great hit too (for use on ground floor 6 person apartment). Diana was so helpful with her local knowledge and on the phone if we needed her anytime. We also ordered in Shopping to be delivered to the chalet at Diana's recommendation the day before and she put it all away for us too! Location was great, we never tired of the stunning view of the Matterhorn everyday and a 5 minute walk to the Doraz Intersport ski hire - this the best place to hire, it's slightly more expensive but has free storage which is essential we would say as the short walk back to the chalet up the steep hill is better in snow boots than ski boots! The Spar shop is about 10 minutes walk away, good for just a couple of items but for bigger shop go to Coop, as its much cheaper and lots more choice. The town has lovely quaint bars, recommend Bar 55, in The Firefly Hotel, so beautifully designed and go to The Brown Cow in the main highstreet, the restaurant looks stunning, but we only stopped for a drink, you would need to book for food as its very popular, we couldn't get in... Also a visit to the Igloo Bar is worth it just off one of the blue runs .

Overall, Zermatt is expensive but for that the ski runs were very quiet (we went 29th Jan-5th Feb). We ate on the slopes at lunchtime everyday, and had easy cook meals at night, it didn't work out that much more than we would normally spend on a self catering holiday. Definitely worth a visit to experience everything Zermatt has to offer.

Our family of 6 from Australia comprised 3 generations (my mother in law, my husband and me and our three teenage sons).  We booked Chalet Anita based on its proximity to the gondola, its number of bedrooms and of course price. Based on the photos I wasn't expecting the accommodation to be overwhelming, but we were so pleased with this chalet!!

Where to start?  Diana our host was brilliant!! Very informative, super helpful and friendly.  Her family built the chalet a while ago and it has been lovingly cared for ever since.

The chalet itself is HUGE.  We stayed in the second floor apartment facing the Matterhorn, with 4 bedrooms.  The master bedroom is massive, with two other large bedrooms and a fourth bunkroom.  The beds were very comfortable, with linen freshened mid week and changed weekly.

The kitchens and bathrooms were all renovated 4 years ago.

We were able to hire our skis at Dormaz? ski shop opposite the gondola and leave them in their lockers overnight.  So the walk in the morning to the gondola is all downhill and takes about 5 minutes at most.  And its soooo scenic!!   The walk back up to the chalet at the end of the day is steep, but my mother in law at 75 managed it easily.  

You cannot fault the location of this chalet.  Not having been to Zermatt before we were a little concerned upon our arrival as to how we would get into the village but it proved to be simple.  We could either walk into the main village within about 10-15 minutes (an easy walk), or walk down to near the gondola station and catch a bus into the village (about a 3 minute drive).   Shopping at the local grocery store was also easy as there is a bus to Winklematten (the stop closest to Chalet Anita and importantly uphill from Anita) right outside Coop, the largest grocer in town.

Importantly the kitchen and bathrooms were quite new and very clean and not old and worn, which you can tend to find with accommodation reasonably priced like this.   

Also, every sunny morning we woke up to see clear and largely unobstructed views of the Matterhorn!  Simply spectacular.

In this chalet, my tall gangly teenage sons all had enough space to do their own thing without them or my mother in law feeling like we were living in each other's pockets.  Seriously the chalet was like a small house - and that saying something by Australian standards.  

It was super quiet as well, as you are slightly on the fringe of the village.  But seriously don't let this concern you.  My husband and I have skied Europe, Canada and Japan and have always booked ski in ski out just for convenience.  This was the first time we booked accommodation without ski in ski out and it really worked well.  

Diana our host was also able to save us nearly AUD$1000 just by arranging a different transfer for us from the Chalet to Zurich airport.  And while you're there, make sure you unwind at Hemizeus spa only 5 minutes walk from the Chalet which the family also own and which is one of the most beautifully clean spas we have ever been to.  The walk to the spa is almost fairytale like with fresh snow!

If you want quiet, tasteful accommodation for a large family or group which has easy access to the village and spectacular views of the Matterhorn, don't look elsewhere but hope Anita is not booked for your travel dates.   Seriously this one is an absolute find!  And if you've never been to Zermatt before, well its quite simply the most spectacular place to ski in the world.  When we can afford it, we will be returning - and to Chalet Anita!
