We just spent 4 nights at Chalet Dorfblick and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We had an apartment on the 3rd floor which slept 4. Great unobstructed views of the town and Matterhorn. We found the apartment  had everything we needed.  As the hill is quite steep we hired ski equipment at Dorsaz next to the main ski lifts and could store it there overnight. This made the walk easier.  It is a quick walk into town. 

Lovely stay

Great accommodation, lovely manager, clean, good value (for zermatt) and reasonably good location (15 min walk into town center).

However you may have read about the dreaded HILL...... 😨

I read all about it beforehand, but I didn't expect it to be that bad.  It is a KILLER.  You definitely have to keep some energy in your legs at the end of the day for that tremendous climb.  TOP TIP - get drunk during apres ski and miraculously the hill club is a breeze!!   

The plus side of the hill of course means you are up high, so the views of the village and the Matterhorn are spectacular (see photo from our balcony).

Overall recommended providing you don't mind the walk up the hill. 

Good, but the hill....!!

My husband and I joined 14 others in Zermatt and rented most of the apartments in Chalet Dorfblick. We were located on the top floor along with another couple. The chalet itself is very charming. We each had our own rooms and bathrooms. A small kitchen did just the trick as everything is extremely expensive there, we cooked a lot of breakfasts/lunches at the chalet. It is clean, and traditional. The beds were comfortable, sheets soft and there was plenty of room for luggage/storage. The hot water pressure was great and the Wifi was perfect. I have zero complaints about the apartment. However, in an effort of full disclosure, if you aren't fairly fit, the hike up to the chalet will be a challenge. Some of our friends really struggled. We hiked up and down quite a bit. The chalet is not 200m from the train station, more like 800m, much of which is up a steep hill. In the snow and ice it can be tricky, but they do a good job of salting the path. It is a WORKOUT though! Be prepared and pack light, you won't want to carry much up the hill. If that doesn't bother you, like it didn't us, this place has an amazing view of the Matterhorn and city below along with a great price! We were extremely satisfied.

Perfection in Zermatt!

Good things: superb unobstructed views of the village and Matterhorn, balcony, clean rooms, nice kitchen with microwave and dishwasher, good hot water pressure and heating, quiet, fast wifi

Not so good: steep and narrow walkway up to the chalet, difficult  to carry luggage, reception not staffed, some kitchen utensils broken (knives), staircase area not as clean

Superb Matterhorn view

We stayed for a long weekend in Dorfblick. Since we were a group with 9, we got 2 rooms for 4 and 1 for 1 person. The higher the room is, the better the view. Drofblick is quite high, a bit further from Zermatt bahnhofstrasse than a lot of others, but the reward is the view. Do keep in mind it's a 10 - 15 min walk from Zermatt train station. The taxi cannot get really close to Dorfblick, so you need to be able to climb the stairs for the last part.

Dorfblick's rooms are very clean and look fairly recent furnished. It's fairly big for 4 people and has all facilities you need. I think good value for money! And the ski facilities in Zermatt are very very good!
