This hotel was recommended by my Taiwanese friend as he used to work there. For location wise it a bit far from Kenting street thus you will need a transport to get there. We drove there ourselves and take roughly 20 mins drive during the night to the main Street. The hotel is cool and decorated in white, the key is given in a long wooden stick and the hotel room oversee the ocean. The bed is soft and hot shower is provided. The wifi inside the room is average though, there is even breakfast served. As for activities, there are DVD for rental to watch in the lobby as well as books and bicycle too. We doesn't get to select the breakfast but it include sausage, salad, bread and yoghurt. Nice and fulfilling breakfast and we enjoyed ourselves very much. There is also a picnic van outside the hotel that served food and beverages too, very unique and special. Highly recommended and we definitely will go back Kenting again.

Nice hotel, clean and good breakfast

This was definitely one of the most memorable stays I had in Taiwan! 

I loved this hotel, how it looked, its location (it wasn't very close to everything else but I loved it because it was secluded and it faces the pacific ocean!). Loved the breakfast, loved that they had bicycles, loved the tiny windows and the seats outside. Loved the morning strolls we had along the windy coast! Will definitely return again! 

The only thing I felt could make this hotel a 5-star one was the service, I felt the young staff were grumpy and not very friendly, unlike most of our stays in the other Taiwanese 民宿。

Most awesome place to stay in Kenting

I stayed in the double room for 2 nights with my bf. We were impressed by the tasteful decoration and hipster atmosphere. It's clear that the owners have put in much thought in furnishing the hotel. Our room featured interesting items such as a music player in the toilet and cute soap labels. Breakfast was tasty and wholesome. The hotel is located off the main attractions and the main street. So this granted us a relatively clear night sky with lots of stars, we even saw several shooting stars! Sunrise was beautiful and there was also a intertidal zone in front of the hotel, which we found crabs, starfish and other marine life. 

While the hotel had several strengths, it could have done better in providing an enjoyable stay to its guests. Firstly, the hotel is staffed with mostly young folks. Many seem more preoccupied in conversations with each other, than providing service to its guests. They were not particularly warm, and did not take initiative to share local sightseeing info/maps etc. Most of the local information, including the tip to watch sunset and stars at our hotel was provided by our cab driver. Without he, we would not have known! 

In particular, dinner service was cold and unprofessional. When I asked my server for water during my meal, she asked me to walk out of the restaurant to get water myself from the water cooler outdoors. While this was not a big deal, I certainly did not expect such service from a hotel. (this is not a self-service fast food chain.) Nevertheless, the food and dessert was good, and made up for the poor service. 

It's also important to note that the hotel is isolated and away from other restaurants, shops and attractions. The hotel did not provide any form of shuttle/pick-up service. Public transport was almost non-existent. We ended up spending about USD120 on cabs and a driver for our 3D2N stay. It was hefty sum to pay, considering the hotel stay was not expensive. I would recommend only guests who drive to stay here. Otherwise, be expected to pay for transport. 

In sum, the hotel is definitely a unique place to stay, but it lacks in warmth and thoughtfulness. This contrast was especially stark when we later moved to another hotel in Kenting which provided sincere and thoughtful service (and free shuttle) which exceeded Hotel de Plus in many ways.

Hipster hotel, but can be more customer-oriented

Hotel De Plus occupies one of the most scenic locations in Kenting - facing the Pacific Ocean.  The white building is clean-looking and elegant and the grass area in front of the hotel is pleasing.

There are three dogs there, giving the hotel a very home-y feel.  The dogs are interesting looking - like a cross between a dog and a hyena - and friendly.  I like them a lot.

Breakfast is healthy and tasty - the bread is very fresh and homemade.

My family and I stayed in a quad-room - 1950.  It's small, but functional.  I would have preferred a bigger room, but for the rate we were charged, I had no complaints.  WiFi was, however, hit or miss; I had to walk down to the lobby several times during our 2-night stay in order to get it to work.

There was no water-kettle in the room but there was a water bottle for us to get hot or cold water downstairs in a public area, so that was fine.

The staff is young and cheerful.  Helpful, too.

I was slightly confused about their housekeeping service - due to language problems, I still am not sure if they provide daily housekeeping service for stays spanning multiple days... but they promptly gave me new towels and cleared my trash when I made the request.

My family and I also stayed at Gloria Manor on this trip.  Hotel De Plus is definitely a nice, quaint, little place that offers a very 'unique' experience, but we (over 50) might be a bit too old for it...  We'll stick with Gloria Manor next time.

Different; 'good' different, though

This hotel not just have great ocean view and beautiful nature, rooms and restaurant, I love the culture and atmosphere inside this hotel. They always give us surprises, put out a cool graphic design posters every time, or a interesting event like free room from costal cleanup or barter market. Great food and determine service and design everywhere.
